I'd try this out right away if I had Maple. It's pretty cool regardless. You win a link in MCEdit's thread!

The consequences being nothing? I always keep Minecraft open while I edit in MCedit, and nothing have ever happened :Notch:

You have my condolences for your future loss.

xklit: It's not MCEdit. Remove your client mods and try again.

Tythus: What map generator did you use?

chris0744: The last tool on the toolbar lets you create new areas.

Version stable9 is posted. Minor tweaks again, plus a fix for duplicate entities when undoing different things. There's also a new version on the testing branch where I've just reorganized a bunch of code without really adding anything, so I'd like to hear about any serious errors there.

AquaNinjaX: You can right-click a spawner block after you brush it in.

mewtwoy: No, but you can use NBTEdit to make it rain or storm.

panpan: Look at the green "nudge" button on the Clone tool's panel, and the numeric inputs next to it. You should be able to do repeated clones like that precisely once you get used to it.

    Holypear: Got a screenshot?

StarDruid: You can work with custom blocks by typing in the block ID into the block picker's search box. Type in an ID:Data to choose the data value, too.

Azraile: If your computer crashes like that, it's likely a problem with your video drivers. Try reinstalling them.

chris0744: Does that happen every single time?

yacobg42: What does the Console utility show when you try?

InsanityBringer: It sounds like something specific to the item you're importing. If it's consistently the same chunks going bad, you can actually extract them to chunk files using the Chunk Control and look at them in NBTEdit if you want to examine the NBT data.

Dvinn: Yeah, it takes a while to do the lighting calculation for 2 billion blocks. If you want to work on the level-loading library and speed up the lighting calculator, feel free. The other option is not to put down the 10 layers of water so the lighting is simpler.

Tyken132: There's no easy way to predict the weather.

sciberdude: You forgot to restart your computer after installing Python.

TriggerHappy57: Are you looking for the Topsoil filter? It needs to exist in brush form too, you're right.

RG11: Place a spawner block and then right click on it.

JackTDawson: ANYTHING you import has a slime in it? Does it help to use the Remove Entities command on the affected area?

What you're seeing is that the entity at (-112.7, [Y], -348.3) is being placed in the wrong chunk (-8, -22). This shouldn't happen. Whenever I import an entity with that position, it's always put into the right chunk (-7, -22).

Version stable8 is posted. Minor update: Graphics and rotations for the new rails, and protection against putting your spawn point below H=64.

So in other words there's nothing i can do? Could I try copy and pasting it in a new world, or something?

You can paste it into a new world once you've found an acceptable climate. The only real way to change an existing world's biomes is to change the random seed... not very predictable for climate change and has all the usual consequences.

papermen: If you can't open the schematic directly, can't you import, then fill/replace, then export again?

ElSockMonkey: Oh right, I need tooltips for those. Thanks for the reminder.

lolcoptr123: Does anything show up in the Console app when you try?

drag the bounding box one square towards the screen in a horizontal direction while in front of the block.

Turn your view angle 45 degrees and try again.

konomio: Because it works with single-player and not multi-player maps, it sounds like an issue with transferring your map to and from the server.

Icey29: Same as above, plus you need to be wary of Active vs Still fluids - the Still water won't drain away.

Janaus: I don't have any mirrors, but the links work for me.

Tyken132: Climate data isn't stored in the save file, it's computed at play time. We need a mod that makes it stored in the save file before we can edit climates.

For those interested, the latest testing branch has graphic and rotation info for the new rail types, plus a spawn safety option to help with the runaway spawn points.

When i make my map in MCedit, and load it into minecraft, a random world spawns around it. I want to fix this problem.

There is no such thing as a "finite map" any more. You have to create more artificial world with the Chunk tool if you want to block the natural world from being generated.

It's water that;s just floating in the air, I made blocks in the air and let water fall from that so it's just floating water, it deleted it I just wanted to know if it's normal that it takes a few mins to get out?

Yeah, if you only delete it, the game still thinks it's "still" water and won't update it. You have to replace with "active" water if you want to make it flow.

flying sheep: Probably after Minecraft's sources are released. I'm inferring that you are on linux. After you double click on a folder past the first 10, can you scroll up?

TheRealMazza797: The new "Show Entities" option, which you'd know about if you read the Recent Changes.

Icey29: Water (Still) or Water (Active)?

Taaine: Delete your spawners folder. Then, place a spawner with the fill or brush and right click on it. EDIT: Read your comment again. Put the spawner on grass.

343N: You are not allowed to place a the spawn point below elevation 64.

swordster75: You could try to create more bedrock, but be aware of the elevation 64 restriction on your spawn point.

teboklaka: Select your building and go to "Delete Entities". The red boxes will stay, that's a bug. Save and reload, then they will disappear.

First I did CTRL-A And selected everything, Then I tried using the fill & replace tool to replace all reeds on the map with Air.
I get this error whenever I try doing this:

"Error during <function confirm at 0x043FAF70>:
    IndexError('index (238) out of range (0<=index<16) in
    dimension 0',)"

Fixed in stable7. For real this time!

....That's it, I'm donating. You sir, deserve it. How would I go about doing that?

Here's my paypal link. Thanks for your support!

Gamagedden: I have no idea what's going wrong. Sorry.

nagosaki: Sectors can be empty. The offset table in the first sector tells you which chunks are in what sectors.

Drazorz: Chunk Control tool, Delete Chunks.

konomio: I need a lot more information than just "does not work"...

JanTTuX: I just had my server create a new world that had never been touched by MCEdit and I wasn't able to build or destroy blocks, even 1000 blocks away from the spawnpoint. I don't think it's MCEdit.

EDIT: I Removed my single player commands and went back to vanilla Minecraft, and then I could place and break blocks on the server again.

I wanted to ask you a little bit about the .mcr files themselves to see if I could write a small tool dedicated to the job at hand (Simple block replacements with no GUI.)

The first chunk always starts at 0x2000?, and has a 5 byte header? Correct
The first four bytes are a big-endian length that describes the size of the rest of the chunk, right? Correct

My confusions are such: The length described at 0x2000 through 0x2003 (In my case, 0x08e1, 2273) seems to stop 88 bytes before there is some very obvious 0x00 padding to 0x3000, when the next chunk clearly starts. Is this integer not the length of the zlib data, or if it is, what's this 'extra' data? Data from another, longer chunk that previously occupied that sector. Ignore it

Next, is it always guaranteed that the chunks will start on those 4kiB boundaries at 0x2000, 3000, 4000, etc and so on? Correct

However, you could take a look at pymclevel and the command line mce.py, or NBToolkit instead of writing one from scratch. You may need to consider lighting and tile entities when doing a replace - if you replace the chests with dirt but leave the chest entities intact, the server will barf "Tile entity where there is no entity tile" errors.

(Curiously, the new treatment of tile entities during replace ops is what caused the problems with "Select All", go figure. Should be fixed in stable 6 so give it a try and let me know how long it takes.)

Hey when I open mcedit it bounces for a while (i'm on a mac) then just closes. Earlier today it worked fine(about 3 hours ago) I'm using stable 5 mcedit and using 1.4_01 Minecraft. Does this mean that I have to get the x11 or whatever that is if so could somebody tell me how to get it. Thanks :Notch:

Sorry about that. Should be fixed in stable6.

Actually...Another problem. I'm trying to export a schematic..and it "works" but it can't read the schematic.

Also, what happen to the spawner schematic folder?

What happens if you place a spawner block with whatever, and then right click on it?
