None of these suggestions are logical. How do you get advanced time pieces and navigation instruments from an Ender Egg? It makes no sense. Having an item that would only feasibly work in single player is also ridiculous; time dilation cannot work the way you suggest without slowing down time in real life The only thing you can do is increase the reaction time and speed of the one player, or slow everyone else down, which is bad and can give griefers a new tool. The compass is also broken; no way you should be able to teleport to your home or spawn at will, without consuming a resource. We currently craft potions of speed using glowstone/redstone, nether wart, and sugar, but your compass can do infinitely more without durability or energy.

If you have more ideas for the ender egg upgrader, you should have drafted them out before posting. I don't think you have to worry about anyone beating you to the punch because so far, none of your ideas here will ever be added to the game.

Logic? Is that really your argument? This is a game, not a physics simulator. Anyways, how the stop watch would work in multiplayer is still up for discussion, whether it would just not be added or if it would only affect things within a certain area. Also, I cannot see how the compass is broken. For defeating one of the toughest, practically invincible mobs in the game, you get a seemingly overpowered item THAT HAS DURABILITY (maybe you should re-read my post, because I clearly state that both items have durability, disregard any of my further post regarding my original one). The only reason I even suggested it having no durability later on is because there is only one dragon, one egg, one opportunity to make these items.

If you have any more outrageous complaints, please think about it before you actually post it.

two things...the clock paradox. what if when you let go of the right click button the time goes back...for you. the players will be where they were when you let go(not where they started)

and maybe ender dragon breeding? say an egg makes an ender dragon. the dragon will not destroy anything and wont go underground but you can however fly with them. one dragon lays two endereggs(and then die, so you can make the special item and make another dragon or make to dragons.).

As neat as that would be (the multiplayer part) it would completely break the game.
As for the breeding, it's a possibility, but the idea might need to be a bit more refined.

Instead of being made of ice blocks they should be made of "permafrost"

    Prettymuch ice that's not transparent.

Well, until they add something like that, let's just leave it as normal ice for now, just so things don't get too complicated.

For the watch the bubble idea would be a better bet unless you have the power to munipulate time in which case you have better things to do.

Maybe the enderdragon could spawn multible eggs and one could be hatched to spawn another dragon.

The eggs could also updrade other things like make flint & steels shoot sprays of fire and other things.

Well of course it'll be able to upgrade more than just these two items, these were just the only ones that I could think of at the time.

how about leather armour gives you immunity to the freeze effects? that way leather has a use besides to be useless.

That could work, but I don't think it should completely nullify the effect, considering a leather jacket doesn't exactly keep one warm in extreme cold. Maybe it could lengthen the amount of time needed for you obtain the "Freezing" status effect.

The problem with that is even if you sped your character up server side and client side slowed things down, you'd still be going the same speed server side. Lets say you walk for 10 seconds client side, if you're sped up server side but not client side you'd still only move as fast as you did client side on the server. Either that or the game would get out of sync and client side you'd be somewhere else whereas on the server you'd be in a completely different area.

It's hard to explain, but I can tell you that it wouldn't work.

Anyways; as for the compass, I don't think it should ever break as you only get one Ender Dragon Egg.

Well to be honest, I think they should just let us fight him again by right clicking him or something, but yea, until they add the option to fight him again, it might be good to make it last forever.

To all of your discussing how it would work in multiplayer (or look) and things, this is how I see it:

When the player uses the watch, EVERYTHING slows down, including other players, but you yourself continue to move at normal speed. That's how it would look through your eyes.

    Through someone Else's eyes:
That player started to move extremely fast.

When saying this, I think of the Flash and how it works with him. However, the "Are of Effect" idea could work fine as well (the it slows things down it a specific area bubble thing). Since I can see how what I'm saying can be a bit confusing.

    I like this idea.

    But

1.No snow on icebergs, that ruins the difficulty of it.
2.No icebergs within (insert number here~500) blocks of land.
3.No freezing effect. Cold tundra biomes don't freeze you, so I don't see why the icebergs should
4.The iceberg you made is way too small. (the one you made is like a lame block of ice...) A minimum size requirement for icebergs is in order here, they should be quite large actually.
5.Treasure on an iceberg without a dungeon should be rare.

6.Perhaps we can have a new type of biome. They only appear deep within ocean biomes. They are ice continents (giant island; not like the main land)

They are difficult to get up because of how all the sides are cliffs (that being said, you have to either mine your way up [breaking ice and spilling water]or build underneath you starting on the ocean floor)

They are 100% ice, but with a single layer of snow (block) on top. On them might be what Jeb seems to like making now.

    An ice temple.

    Made of ice.

    No snow.

    Traps.

Thoughts on all these changes? Which ones, if any, do you disagree/agree with?

About the freezing effect, tundra's don't freeze because well, you're not surrounded by ice on every side. But whatever, jeb has yet to add any environmental status effects yet, so I don't see why he should start here.
As for the picture, the size of it there is irrelevant because I'm just trying to give you an idea of what it'll look like with the chest inside of it and stuff. The size of it can be changed to whatever it needs to be for it to feel more realistic (and that includes the underwater part).

I was also thinking that if the treasure was found without a dungeon, then the treasure wouldn't be as good then it would be if it was found with a dungeon (for example, there would just be some raw meat or flesh as opposed to there being diamonds in the chest in the dungeon).

For your continent idea, I think you're thinking of giant glaciers. They basically already are giant Ice islands, except without the island part. But I do like the idea of there being an ice temple with traps and things on the tops of it, but that should be left to a different suggestion, since this one is mainly focusing on icebergs. :P

Some interesting ideas but the stopwatch would do strangely in SMP.

Yea, i'm sure it would. The way I look at it, it could just look like the player started to move really fast.

Okay, so currently the egg that is dropped by the Ender Dragon after it's defeated has no use, so I came up with a couple. Mainly, it would be used to upgrade two items; the Compass and the Watch. When combined with the Compass, it becomes the (can't think of a clever name). When combined with the watch, it becomes a stop watch. Here are the details.
The Upgraded Compass: Enables the compass to do more than just point to your spawn. When you hold down the right mouse button (or whatever button it's bound to) you'll be teleported to your current spawn point, meaning if you slept in a bed it will teleport you to it. The compass will have durability, and each time you use its effect its durability bar will go down.
The Stop Watch: Allows the watch to do more than just tell time. When you hold down the right mouse button (or whatever button it's bound to) you'll slow down time for a short amount of time (I was thinking somewhere around 5 seconds). During this time, all entities except for the player(s) will be slowed, and that includes how fast the sun/moon moves. This could allow the player to escape a narrow death. Same thing as the compass, it has a durability bar. When the ability it used, its durability will be drained.

    The redstone part seems nice.

However, the pickaxe and the axe's 'power' are terrible (in my opinion). There is also no need for a hoe that does that, just crouch, it's not that hard.

    Quote from gr8hokage

Swamps ruin the sexy sexy look of minecraft. worlds are full with swamps so you can't even build there as they're so uglyehhh That's why I'm ANTI swamp all the way. they just need to be pretty to go with the rest of minecraftia. or just blown up by greifers.

    1: So ugly
    2: everywhere
3: Unable to build on a swamp
4: ugly oh i said that
5:they just pop up in middle of sexy landscape

Whether you have a lot of swamp biomes or a little is all dependent on how the world generates. You can build on a swamp as much as you could anywhere else. And swamps are nice, life isn't all puffy happy smiles, there are the gloomy sides of the world as well, thus the swamps.

If it's a small suggestion then it probably belongs in the thread that is technically the 'small suggestion megathread'. But anyways, while it may be annoying, it can also be true. In truth, instead of spending time on small things that will barely add anything to the game, they should focus on fixing bugs with our current items (which they seem to be doing right now, maybe). Small additions shouldn't be a priority, but they should still be added every now and then. Also, you shouldn't care if people say they shouldn't waste their time on, because ultimately it's Jeb who makes the final decision on whether it's added or not.

If you work the math out you can make perfectly linked portals. It actually makes a lot of sense when you take into account that the Nether is exactly eight times smaller than the Overworld. :Skeleton:

Okay, but even if it is currently possible to do, it's still a lot more complicated then just placing a color-coded item on it. Besides, I don't think that many people even know that that website exists. :/

This is a good idea. Different dyes would give you 16 colors, so you could have 16 different portals... It would be easier from a coding standpoint to set up the colored portals to attempt to link to the nearest portal of that color, then failing that link to any portal or create one (as opposed to only being able to link 2 to a particular color).

Yea, that could also work. Either way, this would be a lot more organized than what the current system is. And yea, if a portal isn't officially linked to another one, then it would still act like a normal portal, until it becomes linked.

posted a message on Nether Portal Connecters
Okay, so if you've played Minecraft enough, then you should know that Nether Portals need to be a certain distance away from each other in order to lead elsewhere, and it can be a pain to have to travel a long distance just to build another portal. That's why I'm suggesting this.

There needs to be a way for you to link specific portals together, making the distance between them irrelevant. Maybe you would make it by combining nether wart, colored dye, and a redstone torch? together. The idea is that each item would be color coded, and a portal would lead to the portal with the same colored item attached to it. Either way, how you make it isn't really important right now. What's important is how it works.

Basically, you would take, say, the blue version of the item, and place it on a portal in the overworld, and then you would place another blue one on a portal in the Nether. At that point those two portals will be linked, and will always lead to each other, either until one is destroyed or the item is removed from one of the portals. You could have two portals next to each other, and still have them lead somewhere other than the same portal. You would only be able to link two portals together though, you wouldn't be able to place the blue version on three portals.
