I updated to 4.17, erased all my user groups and recreated them. Still had issues, i opened up the users.txt and there was a bunch of white space at the beginning of the txt file so i erased that, and now it looks like everything works fine.
I look forward to see what else you do with this, thanks for the great tool.
Im running 4.16 now, i have 2 groups: members and admins. The admin group still doesnt seem to work right, it seems like i'm getting members group level commands only. Members seem to be getting their commands to work more consistently.
Well i think it may have something to do with the text file it generates, and when you have more than one group things dont work as well if you just have 1.
What is the proper syntax in the groups/users text files?
I tried editing what the gui was generating, seemed to work ok for a single group.
But my 'admin' group didnt seem to work correctly, and some people would periodically lose the ability to use the commands.
Oh and the spawn point did seem to change after reboot. Thanks!
Awesome, so much better than the prepackaged windows console.
Had some issues though, i had to delete the contents of my groups.txt several times because it seemed to bugout and not dish out permissions properly.
Also had the server crash then reboot itself when i tried to change the spawn point.
After it reloaded, didnt seem to have change the point. I'll check again later.
Anyway to change the visualadmin text color from something other than that unreadable dark blue?
I dont see why people defend this guy, while all he does is tweet people that their ideas are great, and sit back and collect a million dollars a week.
I wonder how often he actually sits down in front of a computer to code something. Once a week? 10 hours a week maybe? so thats what, 100 grand an hour? Man that must be nice...
I have to say, after reading this guys rant, I have to agree: what have we paid for? The latest login issues are unacceptable, yet there is no one to hold accountable. We've all paid for a product that doesn't exist yet, its a little ridiculous when you think about it.
MrSparks (or anyone really) , could you please elaborate on the LWJGL fix for this issue? For java/linux noobs, thanks.
I have the same problem as mrsparks, i have unbuntu netbook edition, it has openjdk, so i got the latest sun java from their website and installed it to usr/java
then i tried running the game using that version of java, still nothing
so i got lwjgl, moved the jars to the ext folder, and put together this command line for it all

UPDATE:
I replaced all the .jars in the bin and natives folders in the hidden folder ~/.minecraft
It loads now, but im not entirely sure its authenticating my user creds properly...
Once, long ago, Ultima Online had a server called Siege Perilous where the game rules were tougher than every other shard. I'd like to see more modifiers in the minecraft server preferences to make survival in the game world a real challenge, where players will actually have to work together to survive.
Here are few of the simpler global modifiers i'd like to see in the server prefs:
An overall block mine time modifer.
example: minetime = 1.5
So it would take 50 percent longer to mine blocks in this example.
Here are similar modifiers i'd also like to see
enemy damage, speed, health
item durability modifiers by material type (ex: stone_durability=0.5)
night time duration
red moon (instead of a different game mode, it should just be a toggle in the prefs)
Material requirements for item creation (sorry that axe needs 20 sticks)
Here are a few concepts that would probably take more work to implement:
Add in a few rouge-like elements... Hunger
Over time the player should get hungry, and if the player starts to starve it will cause him/her to lose hearts and possibly die.
Food Spoils: Over time food goes bad, if you eat spoiled food... you'll regret it.
Mine Mobs: After you dig a certain distance away from your shelter, or to a certain depth, Mobs should start spawning in your mines.
Boss Mobs: There needs to be more of a reason to go out at night, boss mobs with rare loot would be hawt.
Weak Structures: Structures built from poor build materials decay over time, no more mud huts.
Severe Weather: Structures that arent reinforced with strong materials will get damaged during storms.
There are a lot of great ideas on this forum, i'm going to work on adding to my post those that would help further the harshness of the game world.
