posted a message on Unusually Bad Performance On Laptop

    Specs:

    Ryzen 5 3500u
12GB of RAM, 2GB dedicated to VRAM
    And an SSD.

I'm getting about 15-25 fps with constant stuttering on default settings. Using the lowest settings and 4 chunks for my view distance, I'm getting 20-35fps. Looking at my resource usage, I'm seeing about 30% GPU usage and 20-60% CPU usage. I wasn't expecting an amazing gaming experience on this laptop, but it seems more than okay on much harder to run games. I'm getting much better performance on my old laptop with a 3rd gen i5 with integrated graphics and 8GB's of RAM, so I'm a little surprised my laptop struggles so much.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to try to get Minecraft to playable?

The new launcher comes with a version of Java bundled and I can't quite figure out how to point it to using the version I have installed. Any idea how to do that?

On an older version of MacOS and on Linux, it ran just fine. Not buying a new laptop just to play Minecraft.

It's MacOS, so I can't update video drivers. I had Minecraft running fine on MacOS 13. How do I disable OpenGL?

I'd really love some help getting Minecraft working on my laptop. OS is up-to-date. Yes, I know it's a weird amalgamation of a machine that probably shouldn't function, but this has been my only issue with this setup. I've tried multiple versions of Minecraft and multiple launchers and I get the same error. Haven't touched the settings at all. Thank you so much for your help.

    Specs:

    OS: MacOS 10.14.5

    Processor: i7-2720QM
    Graphics: HD 3000

    Memory: 16 GB 1333mhz DDR3

When I hit play, this is the error message the official launcher spits out:
