Summary: Smart Moving breaks the functionality of the Tails mod by KitsuneKihira. No crashes or other effects are caused; tails, wings and ears do not appear. The Tails Editor button is still present and functional, although you cannot see your tails/wings/ears there either.
Huh, that's weird... I use smart moving with the tails mod, and it works fine for me, tails show up and everything. Maybe its because I use the alex skin model?
Client-side only mods are essentially a thing of the past (like 1.3.2 past, or maybe it was 1.2.5); while there are still some that exist, their functionality is extremely limited. So no, this mod (and 99% of others) cannot be used on a vanilla server - it must be installed on the server as well as on any client connecting to that server.
Ah, good to know! I usually play on the World of Minecraft server, and I usually look for whatever client-side mods I can find... I think I have about 20 installed
This mod seems so epic though, that I'm gonna load up a singleplayer world for the first time in over two years so that I can try this out!
I apologize if this has already been asked, but can this be used on a Multiplayer server without the mod being installed on the server itself, as in, a vanilla server?
Is there a way to configure this so that I can disable everything but the flying/diving controls (the whole look up or down to go that way) and the animations? Cause I don't wanna get kicked for flying/speedhacking in servers that don't have this installed :/
Works fine for the server, but maibe if you made the dragon's movement in SMP client side (like the player) it would be a lot smoother that way (if that is possible ofcourse)
you got it to work on the server? please tell me how!
Okay, I didn't know the installation of mods on a server was so different from the client. My bad.
I had to google "minecraft server mods installation" and I found that you can install mods on a "bukkit server" into the folder "plugins". I've never really dealt with this topic before, so I don't know much about it at all.
Do you use a bukkit server? And if not, what server do you use?
Edit: I found out that bukkit plugins are similar to mods, but they are not compatible.
Edit2: Sorry, you were right. You can install mods just by placing them into the "mods" folder. I didn't know that. Nevertheless, you first have to install Forge on your server to make Dragon Mount work.
Did you already install Forge on your server?
yes, and to make sure i installed forge right, i tried launching it using the traincraft mod instead, and that worked just fine... so i have no idea whats wrong... other than that it wont start with dragon mounts -.-
I guess it IS wrong to put it in the mods folder. You have to install it like every other mod. You can either modify your minecraft.jar (I never really tried this), or you can use the Magic Launcher. See my previous post.
i actually tried putting it directly in first, and does the magic launcher work with a server? thats what im having the problem with, not the client.
public void onInit(FMLInitializationEvent evt) { //...
public FMLInitializationEvent(Object... data)
{
super(data);
}
I'm not quite sure how this argument works. It could also be a problem registering/overriding the dragon egg block, but unfortunately I can't help you with my current knowledge of Java.
Sorry
could i maybe just be installing it wrong? i put it in the mods folder, is it supposed to go somewhere else or something?
Multiplayer is already working. See "Future plans" in Barracuda's first post: Future plans Create a server plugin for multiplayer support.Should work via Forge now
But I recommend you wait till the next update, which will come after the release of Minecraft 1.5
There will be some good new features
if it works with multiplayer, why cant i get my server to work with it? (it works fine for me with the client though...)

Why doesn't anyone just downgrade back to 1.73, use the mod, then update so you have the world set up for that? It may not spawn any villages, but atleast you'll have floating islands and such, ya?
Would it be ridiculous to downgrade back to 1.73, use the mod, then upgrade so you still have the world?
um, when i try to download the 1.4.2 version, it comes up with a page from mediafire saying something about a split archive, and it only being avaible to people who pay for mediafire..
