One question is whether the game would allow importing .txt files. I think it would fit more with the game if one had to type things out. The interface is already there with signs, and it would be more impressive to read 'Leaves of Grass' or whatever, and know that that person typed it all out. Of course an editor could make quick work of it, but like every other "look what i did in alpha - no editor" post, we would go on the honor system.
in short: usable books - yes! import .txt files - no, but i wouldn't cry about it if the option were available
Here's my interpretation of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater (minus the falling water, for now). It was hard to include many of the details and keep the building a realistic size, so I took a few liberties, but I like how it turned out.
Nice work. I just searched the forum to see if anyone had done this yet. I hope you'll repost when you get the water flowing.
I dug a pit today. Just 7x7, but it goes all the way down, and I did it the hard way. I wanted to see the strata as they naturally occur - they're harder to see in the winding tunnels of my other mine. I made a point not to dig outside the 7x7 square. I started in a bay near my house, using glass to hold back the water, and I used glass to seal off the caves I found.
just above the seabed
an enticing cave (photo taken at night)
from the bottom
Stats:
The hole is 64 meters from sea level to the sky beneath the bedrock.
I found 3 cave openings.
I heard a zombie behind the wall twice.
I saw lava twice, but there was none in my digging area.
I found a bunch of coal, 11 iron ore, 8 redstone, and 4 obsidian. I left more of each in the walls.

Hey, thanks. I'm thinking notch might eventually change the holes to unquenchable lava, but for now, I like it.

I glassed over one of my bedrock rooms so I can safely see what time of day it is while deep underground.
