I have migrated to MCPC + from Forge recently. I was using this mod under Forge since I first found Hexxit modpacks about a year ago.
However I have an MCPC+ oddity:
Server crashes as soon as I drop the /resources folder into the /mods folder.
When I remove that folder it runs perfectly. I never encounter any ruins, and according to the system log Ruins and Updatechecker are running perfectly.(Not encountering ruins would make total sense here)
I saw earlier in this thread that a few folks were having issues with MCPC, but it was hard for me to see if that was user error or what. I know for me it is not as I have used this mod before in Forge, and haven't had a problem until now in the middle of my migration
I'm not really looking for a solution here, as this is most likely something with the new version of MCPC.
I just wanted to post a note about the issue. If interested I can post up the server log as well as the crash report.
My players and I are just skipping this mod for now
I am trying to read through the whole thread now, but I wanted to make a post regardless of that.
When I use any of the new stone types to craft something
Cobble slab
Stone Pickaxe
Furnace
etc...
The output box flashes and then the end item disappears, and I cannot grab it.
The server is not tossing any errors.
Also the server is running Biomes o'Plenty, NEI, and of course this.
EDIT:
Configs are synced
Modify Recipes is set to True.
I sorted it out, Anyone having the same issue as above, please dont' be me, read more carefully, and realize that you have to change the Underground Biome rocks to Vanilla Rocks. Its the only way to get this to work.
How do you turn off Taint spread in the config? My son and his buddies are obsessed with fighting it and its starting to break my brain.
here are the relevant portions of the Config
# The chance per chunk (1 in n) of a Taint biome spawning during world gen. Setting it to 0 prevents the spawning of Taint biomes.
I:biome_taint_chance=0
# Can Taint be caused by flux effects.
B:biome_taint_from_flux=false
# The chance per block update (1 in n) of the Taint biome spreading. Setting it to 0 prevents the spread of Taint biomes.
I:biome_taint_spread=0
Still it spreads everywhere, and is slowly taking over their town.

Role-playing: Changing my behaviour, mannerisms, and mood to portray a role or character as if in a play or story.

heal all other forms of damage at a rapid rate.
That being said Meta-Gaming is not 100% bad or detrimental to a game, and many

Full Name: Cirathorn D’Avere (I am willing to change this name
if it does not fit with the nomenclature of the dwarves on the server. I am not

possible, I would use it)

Sub-race (if any): Forest Dwarf
Clan (if any): (None at this time. I would like to hold off and

it much like joining a Guild in WoW, or any other MMO. There needs to be a bit
of chemistry and comfort established before making a decision that will impact
how I play and enjoy the server, as well as contribute to the enjoyment of
others)
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
My childhood was not special or different in any way from your typical Forest Dwarf. Wheat
and potatoes were my father’s pride and joy, while my mother took great pride
in our mushroom cellar. As I grew to an age where my “help” was more than a
hindrance, my mother was able to expand our cellar and we started growing more
mushrooms to share with the others near us. Still, it was not enough; I soon
grew bored with tending mycelium, ensuring the hyphae was tended for proper
mushroom growth, and soon the very sight of potatoes or wheat seeds would drive
me mad.
Mother and I were in town selling our latest harvest when I stumbled across several dwarves
discussing a new road they were planning on expanding to help carts and horses
travel between villages. They were needing to replace a bridge and were arguing
over the best style of buttress along one of the foundations. I happened to
wander over amidst the strong words and emotions to ask if I could see the
plans. Shocked at my curiosity, they stopped arguing long enough to explain how
Angled, Clamped, and Diagonal buttresses worked. Having explored the area
several times in my few free hours as a child, I suggested they used a Diagonal
buttress along the retaining wall to follow the flow of the land.
I soon found myself apprenticed to a master road smith, and with my parents blessing, I left
the farm to start work and expand my education. For the next few decades I travelled
the land exploring the styles and concepts of the other races.
(OOC: I am leaving this vague at this point as I am still trying
to digest the history and relations on the server. I have always considered
Backgrounds to be somewhat vague and to be solidified as characters and
concepts meet and interact in the actual game world. When I was a Domain
storyteller for White Wolf’s official World of Darkness LARP, I was always
fascinated by the number of times people would hard lock their backgrounds
before ever stepping foot into a game where Role play could change or tweak it
at a whim. That being said, if its allowed I would certainly rather develop
this over time with the other players on the server. )
Ambitions for the Future: Bring roads and pathways to better
serve the needs of his people. Establish farm lands and housing to better
shelter and feed friends and allies.
Personality: Quiet, unassuming. Cirathorn is dwarf of few words,
choosing to instead let his works and crafting speak for him. While most
dwarves are loud, boisterous and tough as granite, like the mountains and
bedrock they build in; Cirathorn is quieter, still, and patient, like the
ancient rivers found through the land. Choosing to shape the land and not break
it.
Skills: Road and Bridge Work, Farming, Landscaping, and
Architecture (Although, I would say that while I feel I am a pretty decent
builder, I am amazed, daily, at just how good others are out there.)
Appearance:
Any other details you wish to share about your character:
This is more of an "OOC thing": I do not enjoy PVP in Minecraft. I have never felt the game or code base was meant for it, and as such I avoid it at all costs. I am trying to work out just how exactly that fits into my characters background. So, that being said, my character is a pacifist in regards to other PC's.
Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum
of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as
descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____
1. Whilst mining deep in the undergrounds of Kalos you see a
large deposit of diamond ore at the other side of the ravine you are on. There is
a very thin rock bridge that looks precariously unstable, but it is the only
way to access the deposit. What do you do?
Answer: Inspect the foundation of the bridge, reinforce where
necessary to allow others to us it without fear. Once on the other side, I
would harvest all but one of the Diamonds, and then I would build a small
monument using the last diamond as a focal point, this way the discovery could
be commemorated by others. I would then return the diamonds to community so
that tools, armor, or goods could be acquired or crafted for all to enjoy and
use.
2. You are sitting in the local tavern with a large pint of
ale in your hand - sitting nearby you is a rather young dwarf whom is clearly
going through a bad time. He is crying to himself, and clutching a small wooden
hammer toy. In the other corner of the room two shady dwarves are sitting
whispering to each other and pointing occasionally at the dwarf. They stand up,
one with a small dagger in his hand and begin to approach the young dwarf. What
do you do?[
Answer: The trick with forging steel from iron is knowing the
right temperatures to heat the metal without making it brittle. Clearly this
lad has been through an ordeal and his metal might be at the breaking point.
The shady dwarves could be life’s way of heating up the inner metal of the lad
past the point of being useful. With this in mind, I would wander over, and try
to act as any decent craftsman would. I would sit and talk with the lad, hoping
my presence would dissuade the others to leave this lad alone. I would take
careful note of their faces and clan markings though, as any dwarf that would
feed upon another dwarves misery is no real craftsman or caretaker of his
people, and as such would not gain access to my wares or abilities.
3. Whilst wandering through the Dwarven Caverns you hear a
voice call out to you; “Oi, ye’! C’mere n’ get ye’rself an ale!”. You spin on
your heel and see a heavily bearded bar-owner looking at you - a huge grin on
his face, and a mug of ale in his hand. How do you react?
Answer: All work and no play make Cirathorn a dull boy. However,
I would ensure my work load for the day was finished and my tools were properly
stored and put away before accepting the Ale. Once accepted though, I would
quaff that ale in typical dwarven fashion
- Have you ever been or are currently a staff member to another server? Yes, several actually. 2 were Feed the Beast servers, 1 was Tekkit, and then I currently also running a private server for my son and wife. (Zero chance of my advertising it, I like to control who all can interact with my son online)
- Do you have any questions about the rules? Several:
How is PVP handled?
You say only a minimap mod, but what would be the rules concerning the "Inventory Tweaks" mod (It helps me with my OCD need to organize all of my chests and backpack)?
- Do you have any questions in general? How are inappropriate chats handled? When I say inappropriate I mean things such as Racism, Homophobia, and personal attacks.
Is there any way to take the old wood plank textures and put them back?
I seriously hate how Jungle and birch look now and want to relive the days where they were all different colors but the same as the Oak plank blocks.
You'll probably need to regenerate the world or explore new chunks, I know Thaumcraft has a few settings for it to generate Thaumcraft ores, nodes, etc in alreay generated worlds but I'm not sure about Ars Magica.
I'm happy that my mod works so well for you! Making electric machines, etc easier is exactly why I started this mod, there are a few mods out there that are really good, but make things way too complicated, I can see how some people enjoy that but it's not for everyone.
I will be adding a layer of complexity with the Modular Machines later but still, i's just a matter of making upgrade chips and adding them to the machine to improve it.
If you're looking for more mods to make Minecraft more interesting I recommend Project Zulu which adds a few mods and some cool things like campfires and graveyards and also Ars Magica, it's a little complex when getting started but it's fun to cast spells, although there is an issue with Thaumcraft atm where placing a Thaumcraft block like a table in an Ars Magica tower causes a crash.
Awesome will look at Project Zulu now.
I have played with Ars Magica before, and it could be a great substitute for Twilight forest.
(I know this isn't your area, but....)
If I were to add in Ars Magica, would I need to re-generate the world?

There appears to be an issue with Grass slabs when playing on a server. (In Single player, this issue is not present)
When you break a half slab, it becomes an unrecognized block. Purple/ black checkerboard
It doesn't matter how you break it, punching, shovel, etc.
Same config file, and resource pack in single player and this problem isn't present.
Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it?
0
Whenever I break a non-vanilla slab, it turns into the Purple/ Black grid box. Also grass slabs turn into Lime Wool Slabs whenever I dig them up.This is with the 1.8.9 versionEDIT: just noticed on the server it tosses an [15:19:46] [Client thread/ERROR]: Item entity 2915454 has no item?!Config issue with the server. Fixed now.

The cases won't close for me, am I missing something? They just sit there with their lids open after I put items in them

SSP it works great, but as soon as you hit an SMP server, it breaks

A few pictures of what happens are in the album above.
At first I thought this was beause I had edited the Biomes to generate config, but that is not the case.
Any suggestions? This is a server for my son and his friends; so its not really needed, but they would like it.
