Looking for a mature person to play modded survival with. I like mods like Blood Magic, Witchery, Industrial Craft, Build craft, etc. but am open to pretty much about anything. If you don't know how to use Hamachi, then I'll show you how over Skype or something. Just leave a comment and I'll PM you. Looking forward to this!
And btw, I'm open to having more than 1 person join in on the fun! I don't know how much a Hamachi allows for, but a couple or few more people would be fun too.
You need to import them, you are using Eclipse right? If so, press Ctrl-Shift-O to import them.
Thanks for the idea, but sadly I already did. That screenshot is right after I imported them. If you click on the imgur link you can see the errors more up close.
Hello, I'm new to Minecraft modding. I've been googling and working at creating a sucsessful basic modfile for about an hour now. So far, I have been following Bedrockminer's tutorial on how to do it with pristine attention to details and haven't ran into any issues besides this.
When I started modding, I had experience in C (not C++) but not Java. I googled tutorials and started by blindly following exactly what they said. Once I had learned enough about both Java and Forge, I ventured past the "basic block" realm and into the world of entities, models, entity AIs, biomes and dimensions.
It worked out fine for me. My first mod was just for practice and my first released mod is still a huge hit. I released it after 3 and a half months of Java and modding, self-taught over the summer.
For you, I would recommend you just dive in. Start with the basics so you really know what you're doing, and ask for help if you need it. Some excellent tutorial pages include bedrockminer, Jabelar, and the other tutorials linked to by Jabelar on his page. bedrockminer's page is the easiest to navigate, but all the tutorials can be helpful.
Also, keep in mind that modding for 1.8.x through 1.10.x is very similar and tutorials for any should be adaptable with each other. Tutorials for 1.7.10 are not as applicable to new versions of Minecraft, but some things like event handling don't really change. See here for a discussion of which version to use for your first mod.
Thanks for the advice. I am looking forward to learning not only Java but how to mod!
Taking AP Computer Science will definitely allow you to become literate in Java, so when it comes to doing more complex things in a mod (like those you suggested), it should be much easier to grasp, especially if you understand the Minecraft code.
While it certainly isn't needed, it will help you with more complex mods. I'm taking that course next year as well, and I'm looking at it thinking it'll give me a bit more insight into the language, even though I'm fairly familiar with it already, so I would say it would definitely be helpful.
Wow, I like this idea. I'm a C coder but am going to be learning Java next school year. I'm trying to start learning Java so I may be of assistance in the near future to help you bring this thing to life. No promises though.
Recently I have gotten into computer science and I would probably consider myself an intermediate with the language C (although a bit rusty). I'm taking AP computer science next year and I know it's primarily Java based. I've played Minecraft for a long time (5+ years) and have always been fascinated by mods. To get to my point, do any of you know if taking this AP class will give me a general idea on how to create a decent mod? Not one of those beginner ones that just adds a few items. I'm talking a mod like Industrial Craft or Equivalent Exchange. If not, where do I get the knowledge to do so and how should I go about that?

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or come up with a new basic modfile text that I can use? Just need to be guided into the right direction...
P.S. MCV1.8.9
