I've gotten these three mods to work together client-side. For server-side installation, as far as I know, I need ModloaderMP, Minecraft forge API, and Player API.
These are the versions I have been trying with those three:
ModloaderMP 1.1 v2 Server
minecraftforge-server-1.3.1 (railcraft didn't work with 1.3.2 on the clientside, so I figured it would need a matching server version)
MC 1.1 -Player API server 1.2
I've narrowed the problem down to the installation of forge and modloadermp. On a fresh minecraft_server.jar with only those two installed, the server won't start. What on earth am I doing wrong? I'm very new to how server mods like these work, and from the sparse information on the topic that I've read, this should be working.
end note: I'm installing as per the directions for forge and modloadermp: drag and drop the files into minecraft_server.jar
Edit: I was hoping for some quick responses, but I've solved this problem. Those versions of forge and modloaderMP are just incompatible. Railcraft isn't going to happen.
Hate to interrupt the bickering, but I can't get this mod to install correctly. I've wiped my .minecraft folder already to attempt to install anew, but that didn't seem to work either. What exactly am I doing wrong? Here's what my config looks like in magiclauncher:
This is my configuration with magic launcher for just Buildcraft. It works just fine. However, as soon as I add Redpower to the external mods list I get crashes. Even just added the core file.
I'm only posting this because some other posts on the forums seem to imply they've gotten such a configuration to not crash. What am I doing wrong?
I want to start by saying this is the first shaders mod I've used, and it makes the game look absolutely fantastic. Just the idea that everything has a shadow makes the world much more realistic.
That being said, I only have a couple gripes. The way torches light things I think is awkward. They seem really dim, and there's no way to judge the light levels that the game uses when spawning monsters. There doesn't seem to be any concentration of light near them at all. I realize this is probably extremely complex, as making this perfect would require calculating every placed torch as an individual light source like the sun. However there are a few things I think could be done to emulate the effect, instead of actually having it.
The only other thing is that the moon is pretty bright. That's not really bad at all.
I'm looking forward to when this mod is compatible with water shaders!
Argh I just was about to finish pre3's release when pre4 hit.
Pre4 doesn't add a whole lot of new **** to texture compared to others. Just take your time. I'm really looking forward to this release. You're my new favorite pack.
I went to find and install the better grass mod, and the thread directed me to your patcher, which I use often and never saw the better grass mod with it. How to I get this mod?
Thanks! That worked great for me. However, I ran into a different problem. Ports 8080 and 25565 are closed, and I don't know how to open them. When I was running regular mineOS, the ports were open already and everything was fine. That was very recently too, so I don't know how/why it would have changed.
In any case it's not connected to a router: it's plugged via ethernet straight into the wall. I don't even know if I have access to a router or anything like that since this I live in an apartment.
Is this a mineOS+ quirk? How do I fix it?
By the way, I used this to see that those ports are closed.
Port forwarding has nothing to do with mineOS. I do know in order for 25565 port to be open a world has to be up and running.
That's what I thought. I hadn't rebooted actually, so I did that. Web interface is up, but it's still saying that 25565 is closed, and the world won't start from the web interface after I created it. It spits back "world one: down" where "world one: up" usually is.
Edit: Alright, I got it working! I hit update server files and that seemed to do it. Thanks for all the help! Sorry for being a bother, but I guess I was just seeking help while trying whatever I could as well.
Thanks! That worked great for me. However, I ran into a different problem.
Edit: Alright I spaced. I hadn't done that reboot after installation. Now that I have, 8080 is open, but 25565 is still closed. I connected to the web interface and created a world, but it won't start up the world. I hit start, and it gives the message it should, except instead of "world one: up," it spits back "world one: down." I'm assuming this is because the port is closed. How do I get this to work?
How do I do a clean install of this from my old setup of mineOS? I want to erase absolutely everything and start afresh. Running this on a physical box, by the way. I tried, and it didn't seem to work so hot, because all my files were still there and it wouldn't reboot correctly. So I guess I just need to know how to format the drive entirely and do a clean install.

My plans are to install Buildcraft, Railcraft, and Smart Moving

That was easy. Thank you!
Haha, I just thought it was funny since I was expecting the end posts to be discussions about recent updates or support information is all.

Edit: so as to not double post:
Seems to me it does. It only seemed to work when I installed the standard version.

I'd rather he just worry about the original game before people start talking mod support.

Hey I just installed it, and now when I connect to my server it tells me the client is outdated.
Seems to be a problem with MCpatcher.

Me and people on my server like to use it to help find ores, as a happy medium between creative and survival servers.
I've seen links to 1.4 compatible versions, but I don't think they're legit.
