Perhaps I should change the title to "I hate modded clients"?

Personally, about 50 idiots in the past have decided to fly around, place tnt forests in place of forests they burn down on my server.

How exactly does griefing make them idiotic in nature? I don't think it has anything to do with intelligence.

Did you even read the post? In SMP, he stated that dying would probably just ban your character, not delete the world.

Also, do you really think removing every block a user placed is a good idea? You're basically eliminating teamwork from occurring, ever (on a hardcore mode).

It would be amazing to see a server like this, however, posting a topic such as that on the Official forums is pointless. I have come across some very polite and well respected people (Kamudo) but I have come across a much higher majority of immature teenagers.
I would use a quick Google search of these specifications and see if anything comes up. Who knows, you might end up on a Hardcore in game Roleplaying server.

You're right; the vast majority of people on this forum seem either incompetent or immature.

There's a server like that right now, but unfortunately I'm the only person who even goes on. Ever.

    Here's the forum post.

Upon logging in, I was told this was a free-build server.

    My dream remains unfulfilled :/

posted a message on Actual Roleplay
My biggest dream (at least regarding Minecraft) is finding a server that has actual roleplay.

    What is not actual roleplay:

[*:tycr5yp9] RPG system with levels, stats, etc.
[*:tycr5yp9] Towns and buildings serving no purpose.
      [*:tycr5yp9] Just an economy mod.
[*:tycr5yp9] "Positions" where you must be a certain position to play.

The type of roleplay I'm talking about is a server where talking in OOC is discouraged and only permitted when absolutely necessary. When typing, players type as if they were the character their avatars represented, and used proper grammar. Worlds could be set up in a semi-realistic fashion with governments, etc. The general rule, though, would be an emphasis on playing out the role of your avatar. The path you choose should be up to you, but as a part of the world you should feel as if your actions will make a real difference.

posted a message on Best Way To Promote SMP servers?
That's a good question, to which there are a multitude of answers. Typically, server owners will post in their signature an advertisement from the server, and become more active on the forums. This opens up more potential viewers. Some other ideas:

      [*:2ncp2ors]
Another common way to increase traffic is to make your server more "unique" - come up with something that sets your server apart from the rest.
[*:2ncp2ors]You could also set up a website. I don't mean some freewebs thing, I mean an honest-to-goodness .com address with scripts that interact with the server.
[*:2ncp2ors]Set up an IRC channel and a vent channel; people are suckers for ways to communicate outside of the game.
[*:2ncp2ors]Reward players for posting in your server thread; perhaps, if they post once a day, do something for them.
[*:2ncp2ors]Scout on the Discussion forum for "newbies" wanting to join a server and advertise yours.
[*:2ncp2ors]Ensure that current players invite their friends, referrals can make up 50% of all new joins.
[*:2ncp2ors]Properly format your server thread so it looks more appealing, complete with pictures and videos.

I can make your server extremely popular. Pop me a message for any assistance.

This idea is as old as Minecraft itself. Every few pages, some new guy posts the exact same post and gets the exact same replies, and eventually dies, only to be replaced.

Minecraft is FAR too dependent on the minecraft servers, imo. Why do we need to go through minecraft.net just to join an external server that has nothing to do with minecraft.net?

posted a message on Infinite lava no longer in SMP?
    Yes, in different ways.

For example, you can have one where lava pours onto lava that is pouring onto the ground. This occurs naturally quite often, and provides infinite lava.

posted a message on [Software][Plugin][Bukkit] Runecraft [use bukkit page for download]
I have an idea similar to the "magic mole".

Side View: (iron bar = iron block, black = tier rune)

    :stone: [] []
    :stone: [] :cobblestone:
    :stone: :Iron: :Black:
    :stone: [] :cobblestone:
    :stone: [] []

    Front view:

    :cobblestone: :Black: :cobblestone:
    :Black: :cobblestone: :Black:
    :cobblestone: :Black: :cobblestone:

You place this 3D rune against a solid wall, fill the tier spaces, and right click the middle. The result is a 3x3 tunnel that goes x spaces, where x is (Tier*3). I believe this is balanced due the the requirement of an iron block, which can be pretty valuable.

I don't understand why there are still people who ask this. Are you really satisfied with "SMP" being Creative 2.0? In my view, the primary purpose of building a structure in Survival rather than Creative is the "you've earned it" aspect. In Creative, everything you need is at your fingertips. In Survival, you not only have to hunt for blocks, you have to avoid danger as well. At the moment, Survival is just Creative that takes longer.

What pissed me off is when Notch labeled health a "fancy feature".

posted a message on Peaceful mode looked down upon?
    Quote from jeremyvl »
The people who mock Peaceful Mode only do so because they suck at Minecraft. That's why they spend so much time trolling the Internet or griefing on SMP, because they suck. Peaceful Builders don't make fun of anyone else, because they don't have to tell anyone that they are masters of this game...they already know it.

I never play on Peaceful, but that's my personal choice. I'm not impressed by anyone who can last 15 minutes in the Nether on Hard Mode, because anyone with reasonable skill can do that. OTOH, building full-scale models of the World Trade Center, or the pyramid temple at Chichen Itza, or the Golden Gate Bridge...those are the players who make me jealous.

That's some pretty faulty logic there, cap'n. Stating that everyone who mocks peaceful mode sucks at Minecraft is logically faulty.

Personally, I am under the impression that peaceful alpha is no different than creative, which I have no respect for.
