I don't know if I'm looking at the right page, but I can tell you what i'm looking for. Tell me if this is the right page for me. I'm looking for how to use a mod, i'm in version 1.7.10, but the mod is for 1.7.2. Is that what this guide is about? And if it is, then I don't understand the last part:

If an update breaks any of your mods then just copy the minecraft.jar into the bin folder, and overwrite the new minecraft.jar, it wont update, but it will be on the prior update, so you can use all of your last update's mods.
