posted a message on Are there any good DOWNLOADABLE maze generators?
Why does it have to be downloadable? Not complaining, just asking a legitimate question.
If a browser-based one would work:

    http://www.billsgames.com/mazegenerator/

My favorite things about this generator are:
-It generates a savable image, so you can keep it on your computer to resume work later.
-You can make it any size you want, which is perfect for scaling it to whatever creation you're fitting it into in your world.
-The wall and floor squares are the same size, so re-creating it out of minecraft blocks is easy.

Why do Endermen have to move blocks? What could it possibly add to the gameplay other than simple annoyance? What was Notch thinking? :dry.gif:

Why do people have to make so many of these topics? What could they all add to the forum other than simple annoyance? What was this user thinking? :dry.gif:

In all seriousness, though... I'm glad this game has unique enemies that do unique things... that's a lot more than most games can say.

Also, Jeb said on twitter that he'd look into a way to make this less annoying when he goes back to work, which will be monday the 20th (today if it's after midnight where you live)

posted a message on Question about new world generation
Ok, here's an image, as requested. My spawn point is in the bottom-right. I flew straight to the left, and encountered what seemed to be an infinite ocean, so I turned around, flew back, and started flying up. It's not mapped very well, there appears to be more land just above me, but I assure you that just beyond that is infinite water. I did this with Cartograph G

That must've took a long time?

5,000 meters from spawn is not hard. It took 1 minecraft day, flying in creative.

    Quote from JWFJWF

Are you sure? Can you post a picture of your map made by pixelmap or another mapping program? And how does the border between normal land and ocean look like?

Yeah, I'll work on posting a map. The border looks fine, sometimes it's grassy, sometimes it's sandy, sometimes it's forest. The land just slowly drops off into ocean in most cases, and looks pretty natural for the most part. After that point, you only see ocean with little patches of land here and there.

The world was generated with a random seed in 1.8.1 yesterday.

posted a message on Question about new world generation
EDIT: I'm not sure about what I wrote in this post anymore. I generated a different world and made the journey again. So far I'm 8,000 meters from spawn, and no sign of a seemingly "infinite" ocean. Maybe that world was just really unlucky?

Let me start by saying that I'm not here to whine about 1.8, or start some kind of rant. I really like it, and I have no actual problem with it. I just found this one aspect a little sad, and wanted to discuss it.

So I had been hearing rumors that if you walked for a couple of in-game days in 1.8, you would reach the new 'edge of the world' which is an infinite ocean with occasional little islands in it. So I generated a new world and went to test this. I put it into creative mode so I could fly to make things easier.

Before the end of the first day, I was somewhere between 4500 and 5000 meters west of spawn when I suddenly got to the biggest ocean I've ever seen. I thought to myself "no way this is the end, it must just be a really large ocean." So I kept flying through the night about 3000 more meters, seeing only occasional little islands, then spent the rest of the night flying back to land. When I reached land, I turned north and flew along the coast for about 4000-5000 meters and reached a similar phenomenon up there. I bet if I went 10,000 meters east, I'd find the same thing.

So I've concluded (and yes, I'm sure I'm not the first one) that the world is a 10,000x10,000 meter square. Don't get me wrong, that's still a lot of space to work with, and like I said, I'm not trying to hate on the game or something. I still like it, this isn't some rant thread or anything. just a discussion! Trust me, I'm as sick of the 'whine' topics as anyone else.

But considering that the game didn't start to 'bug out' in it's previous state until about 8,000,000 meters in one direction, giving you 16,000,000x16,000,000, why is the usable space now only 10,000x10,000? It could easily be 100x bigger, and the game should still work fine. I know there's islands and stuff out there, but they're all pretty boring. Most are never more than 4 blocks high, and lack any interesting features.

Is someone more educated on this topic able to provide any insight?

Now, you don't have to trust me and you can think what you want of me, but if you don't trust me on that I don't see why I should discuss any more.

Ok, one last post for the op, THEN I'm going to the store.

I have no personal problem with you, I just think there's another solution to the problem other than complaining about the endermen, and having them nerfed or removed... such as the suggestion of keeping the spawning areas only 2 blocks tall... But it seems as though you just keep up the same argument no matter what anyone says, so I'm giving up as well. See ya.

Well they do take damage from water, so I guess they want us all to build moats around our houses?

They spawn in the darkness, and don't really walk around very much. Your house is safe.

Anyway, It's been fun, but I got stuff to do elsewhere. Grocery store, bank, put gas in my car... I'm outta here for now.

My factory is in the middle of the sea. Secondly, endermen don't mind water, as evidenced by the fact that they removed tons of blocks at the bottom of water channels.

They die in water, just not right away. If they touch water for even a second, they burst into flames even if they're no longer touching it.

Insult people all you like, it only reflects back on you.

I never insulted anyone... You, however, have been quite condescending, calling the community on these forums Ten-year-olds.

Sheesh, most of them are at least 15.

    A stupid comparison

Creepers explode because you interact with them, Endermen grief without any need of interaction

How would people like it if Creepers could blow up on a whim?

I, personally, would find that quite funny. Especially if they did it because they were attacking Skeletons or Zombies... You know, Notch mentioned more Mob interaction...

Even if I have to rebuild stuff as a result, who cares? What the hell else am I going to do? It's minecraft, and I'm playing Survival mode. If I have to rebuild something, that gives me something to do.

    Just a thought:

Maybe everyone should stop b*tching about someone "whining" when they're expressing their concern over a particular feature that a lot of the community seems to have issues with. It's perfectly within peoples rights to make suggestions for a game and so stop telling people to just "get used to it" and get used to hearing people disagree with you. Good lord, you'd swear the only people on these forums were 10 years old...

    Just a thought:
Maybe a certain someone should stop b*tching about someone "whining" when they're tired of a million people "expressing" (usually quite rudely) their concern over a particular feature, that the creator of the game was perfectly within his rights to implement, and some of us actually find quite cool. So stop telling people to stop telling people to "get used to it" and get used to people who can turn your argument right back on you, because your part of this argument is just as petty and silly as the rest of it. You're not automatically superior just because you decided to be condescending toward other people. Good lord, you'd swear this guy was 10 years old...

Enderman are NPC griefers, nothing more.

They add absolutely nothing to the survival aspect of the game, so spare us that argument.

There are also ways to prevent them, and you've been doing nothing but spouting "I WAS RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT! YOU ALL ARE WRONG, YOUR OPINIONS ARE INVALID!!"

    So spare us your presence.

Since the feature can be prevented/controlled by the player, I fail to see why it's such an issue. All I see is a bunch of people who just refuse to adapt.

OP, you built a monster trap, I applaud your effort. Just modify it to be only two blocks tall in the spawning areas, light the area around it good with a Enderman killing ring of some sort around it and your creation can keep giving you goodies. Your issue is solved.

    See? This guy gets it.

Perhaps you should look at this from someone else's point of view, who has actually experienced the problem, rather than harping on about it when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about

Why exactly would I have no idea what I'm talking about? Do you think I'm magically immune to Endermen? No, they spawn in my world, too.
