There are many biomes in Minecraft. Some of them you may like more than others, but which is your favorite biome? In the poll above, if you like a variant of the biome, it counts as that biome (to make it simpler, there are so many variants) I tried to get most of the main biomes.
My favorite biome is the Mega Taiga/Redwood Forest. I like all of the colors, and the trees. If I find one in my survival world I will build there.
Interesting idea, may I ask though. What about using the same powered rail, and having it speed up the cart the more powered rails there are in every radius? Would it just wouldn't work or does it have different properties than what you're suggesting?
Support.
That could work, but it might break existing tracks, and make it harder to choose a "speed".
I'm not a huge fan of the High Speed Rail but I like the Powered High Speed Rail. The regular HSP seems unneeded, they could just use normal rails and make so you simply can't go above 8 meters per second unless you went over an active PHSP that sets your speed to 20. Basically a soft cap of 8 that is impossible to go above unless using a PHSP, and a hard cap of 20.
Other than that I like it.
I didn't think about it that way, I might change it.
I do agree that the next thing Mojang should focus on is the cruddy minecart system, but I'm not sure that we need any more speed, just some new mechanics and stuff for minecarts. Besides, with the addition of the elytra, i think people would prefer to fly though the air than travel by underground railroad.
Yes, I agree that there are some mechanics that need to be fixed (connecting minecarts). However, this was more for rebalancing compared to horses, and being able to travel very long distances where you can start to get bored.
Speed rails are a new idea I have for Minecraft. This is my first suggestion by the way.
Have you ever had a base/area very far away from your spawn which you wanted to go to, but it would take way too long. Well with this suggestion, you can get there faster.
Feature
The high Speed rail suggestion is composed of two blocks, the High Speed Rail and the High Speed powered rail.
- The Speed rail would act like the normal rail with a few exceptions. It could handle minecarts going up to 20 m/s (normal rails can have 8 m/s)
- The Speed Powered rail would act similar to the powered rail, but it could speed up minecarts to 20 m/s.
However, not everything is good about this new speed. To turn, you couldn't be barreling at 20 m/s, otherwise you would derail. The solution is that if you put a non-activated Speed Powered Rail, you would slow down from 20 m/s to 8 m/s, and you could take the turn. You also can't stop immediately. To slow down to 8 m/s, one deactivated Speed Powered Rail is required, and then another deactivated powered rail to stop completely. You need a Speed Powered Rail every 16 blocks to maintain your speed, and every 4 blocks going at a 45 degree angle.
Pros:
- Would rebalance horses and minecarts so you can move faster even if more work is required, gives people a reason to use Powered Rails
- Could help people move long distances
Cons:
- Makes long distances not feel as long, especially if you are buildings in creative mode with infinite resources
- May cause frustration with derailing
Crafting
To craft you would need reinforced iron and gold. Their crafting recipes are as follows:
Reinforced Iron:

O = Obsidian, I = Iron ingot, makes 2 Reinforced Iron
Reinforced Gold:

O = Obsidian, G = Gold, makes 2 Reinforced Gold
High Speed Rail:

I = Reinforced Iron, S = Stick, makes 8 High Speed Rails
High Speed Powered Rail:

G S G

G = Reinforced Gold, S = Stick, R = Redstone, makes 4 High Speed Powered Rails
Questions you may Have:
I can already see people asking these questions:
This is too similar too ___ mod:
I got some inspiration from Railcraft and Mojangs previous ideas but I tried not to make it too similar.
Why can't we just speed up normal rails?:
That would break many redstone creations, and cause trouble. Mojang tried this, and it didn't work. However, a faster, new type of rail might.
Nobody would use this!:
It's possible, but I think this new rail would be more useful than the normal rail and might have more users, although I do not know.
You will be able to type questions and Cortana will also display pictures and text where necessary (Shown in attachment 3); please explain how Cortana can be used in "bad" way though because I find this intriguing and would like to know what you're thinking; How would you use her in bad ways?
Oh, I see. If that is true then I support. By bad ways I thought it was listening to you all the time it could be exploited to hear what you are saying all the time, but I'm sure people could prevent that, so support.
I like the basics of the idea but I like to see the information in text/pictures and I would like it if you could have a way to type questions, and they could show up on your screen, almost like the Minecraft Wiki in-game. Also, if it would be listening for you it could be used in bad ways.
I like 1.9. My favorite addition is Elytras (they are so fun to use) but I also like end cities. I don't care too much about the combat but I think there should be a cooldown bar so you know when you can do full damage again.

So far 15 people have voted, and it seems a lot of people like Extreme Hills and Plains! (One of the hilliest biomes, one of the flattest biomes)

I like all the ideas, but in the last one I would suggest also if the block the rail is on is pushed up, the rail goes up too. That would be helpful.

I like this idea. The teleporting seems useful, although it could be annoying at times.

There's usually sheep and caves near most spawns that I have found (except for small islands)

I think you should just try building what feels best to you and eventually your buildings get better. At least thats what I do.

Hello I am cardinalland. I have looked at this forum for a while and have been playing Minecraft for 4 years but I haven't joined until now.
