Apr 19, 2011Posted in: Survival ModeQuote from Gesh »Quote from MPC45000 »I have no problem with 1.5, except now I'm stuck in my mineshaft which goes all the way to bedrock. You know why/ Because I don't have a complete ladder. Now what? Mindless dirt digging so I can get up? A little forewarning would've been nice.
He did warn, read his twitter....
I read his tumblr (you know the official development blog linked on the top of this very page). I even did a google search of "official minecraft 1.5 patch notes" and the first full page was posts of what people *thought* would be in 1.5 or exact quotes of Notch's tmblr post
Minecraft Beta 1.5, and some thoughts on this blog

* Weather (rain, snow, thunder)
* Detector rail
* Booster rail
* Performance improvements
More statistics and achievements will be added over time as we develop the game. They’re only stored locally at the moment, but we’ll slowly be rolling out online storing of achievements over time.
I'm not exactly sure why I'd have to read mutliple 3rd party sites to find out what the OFFICIAL patch notes should be and no where do I see any changes about ladders.

As for the missing chunk error, have you tried relogging?
Yeah, I tried relogging.. the whole chunk is just...GONE, not even bedrock. I already posted in another thread that got my other world fixed so it shows in the world list.
I've been searching and I'm suprised that there isn't any kind of 3rd party utility to randomly fill in a missing chunk since they seem relatively common from my reading..
Apr 12, 2011I guess I should have said the "option to password protect your games" instead of implying that each and every game should have a pw.Posted in: Suggestions
Reader Rabbit, Arthur's Reading and the like of pre-K, kindergarten and even first grade games have did wonders for my kids' education (on top of us reading to them regularly and playing different edu-games in the car when we travel) , I see no reason why they can't learn from playing games as entertainment on the computer as well.

caliwyrm: I think I've got yours fixed as well. I didn't explore your entire world, but if you dont have structures all over the place, its possible to shrink the file size by removing the excess chunks via MCEdit.
Thanks more than you know!! :smile.gif: I see my kids were busy building over my stuff, lol.
As far as Excess chunks: I'm afraid the world really is that big with all the exploring, minecart tracks and Nether portals we have set up to see new areas :smile.gif:
Apr 12, 2011Perceived problem: People (kids, siblings) getting into your worlds and messing aboutPosted in: Suggestions
Perceived solution: Ability to add a password to your saved game
Currently, I enjoy playing Minecraft with my 3 year old son and 6 year old daughter. We have fun exploring, building, hunting creepers, etc. We have numerous worlds that they enjoy playing in and building the craziest, strangest things in all sorts of haphazardly.
However, I have a 'main' world that I'd like to think of as "mine" where I go to unleash my inner OCD and perhaps make a megaproject or 4. They often get in there and cause all sorts of havoc digging up farms, placing water traps in the middle of my projects, etc. While I don't necessarily mind it, it does get tedious time after time after time. My 6 year old is good about not going into Daddy's world but my 3 year old doesn't know which is which and my wife isn't much of a gamer.
The only other option I could think of would be to make some kind of batch file that simply moves the saved game folder around before and after I play.
Apr 12, 2011Hello all..Posted in: Legacy Support
I've been playing Minecraft for a while now with little/no problems but I've had 2 decent bugs hit this week :sad.gif:
My primary game save folder is there but isn't listed on the loader list (which is another post) and now my secondary world has a missing chunk (not even bedrock).
I tried to simply build over it but even though a unit is consumed, nothing shows up. I even used INVedit to give myself Bedrock, dug down to the bottom of the map and tried placing bedrock.. Sixty--four units of bedrock were placed in the same exact spot with nothing actually being added to the world :sad.gif:
Is there any kind of automatic repair utility or, failing that, some sort of chunk "reformer"/randomizer I could use to put SOMETHING in that chunk?
I don't care if it puts in a snow biome in the middle of my island, I'm not even asking for my house/chests/railway back. I just want this gaping hole gone :/

Hopefully it can be fixed :smile.gif:

Forest and Tiaga, not Tundra.
Yes, and they WILL attack if provoked.
This happened to me today.. I was exploring a decently sized cave and had 2 wolves spawn deep underground in areas I had lit up with torches..
First wolf got blown up by a creeper, 2nd walked into lava trying to pathfind :sad.gif:

OH MY GOD GIANT GAPING HOLE WITH TONS OF COAL AND ZOMBIES.
No way, you're lying. Lemme see here-
LOLWUT HOLE FULL OF CREEPERS
roughly.. so far it seems like an incredibly large system with TONS of coal and iron visible. There is another entrance (in sand) not to far away either.
Edit: and when I say TONS of coal and iron I mean I have a full stack+ of coal and 48 iron blocks after just a few minutes inside..
There are also a metric load of mobs inside :smile.gif:

People that enjoy the addition of beds will use them. People that don't, won't. Why is this so hard to understand? This isn't a necessary item in the game, unlike things such as torches or a workbench. At best, it's a time saver. At worst, it's a home decoration.
This, this, this. A million times this.
Just because I may not play the way YOU play, doesn't mean its wrong.
Feb 23, 2011I've been playing around with seeds for the last few hours and I've found some interesting tendances in the new worlds created with 1.3..Posted in: Survival Mode
-LOTS of above ground lava pools now. In the 50+ worlds I created tonight, I found surface lava in 40 of them within a minute walk from my spawn. And they're usually a few blocks away from water. Instant Obsidian close to your spawn
-LOTS of above ground iron and coal (even more coal than usual)
-It seems that within a short distance (a 1 min walk) in any direction is access to EVERYTHING on the surface: caves, forest biomes, snow biomes, gravel, lava, sand, dirt, rock, clay
-OMG the clay.. In the '4chan' seed I loaded up my entire hotbar with clay digging by hand before noon in game (yes, that's 640 clay!)
Anyone else notice the 'supercharged' resource spawns?

This ones legit. Started by it four times.
All I found was some surface lava in an ice biome where the ocean already turned 1 pool into obsidian--on the surface.
(Correction: i've found ALOT of surface lava and coal/iron on the surface in the snow biome right near my spawn)
