Why did he only choose to do a LAN network style server, why not a World Wide server network?

I like the idea of LAN network style server. I have 3 people in my house that play the game and it'd be a lot easier to host something like this instead of having to create a whole new, outward facing server just for my family to play on.

posted a message on Etho's Mob Trap System Efficiency In 1.2.5?
Quite the contrary. I have this built in my SSP world an it is quite efficient. I stand next to the output (I have his "Sizzler" attached to the Mob-ovator) and I have collected at least enough gunpowder from just my one site to do my excavation work on another using only TNT. Not to mention the amount of bones, arrows and rotten flesh that comes out. String is a hit-and-miss proposition as it sometimes gets burned up in the Sizzler.

My setup is exactly like his demo so you should have good success with it. Mine is in a wetlands are near forest and the sea. YMMV.

    Good luck :)

I've got some major problems trying to make the "dug out" house inside a mountain, everytime I try to do this, I fall into an underground cave full of creepers/zombies/spiders -.-

First rule of Minecraft: Never dig straight down!

I've been there. Dig on an angle so you can stop before the fall. Then as best you can, light up the area and kill the baddies for the loot and XP :)

    Good luck!

When you build the drop for the mobs, how far should the drop be for a 1-hit kill?
I've found a zombie, skeleton and cave spider spwaner (alll within 50 blocks of each other) and want to set something up that will make it easy to create an XP grinder.

    Thanks!

I found this on my world. This is the first portal I made, and this is totally random!

    Cool, huh?

Very cool! I had to dig through half a map to get to my first stronghold and then it wasn't that much.

    Quote from hrhomer

I just found this vein - gold, diamond, and coal all touching each other. I've only been playing for a few weeks, but I've never found anything quite like this. I once had an area where I could see obsidian, gold, redstone, coal, iron, and lapis at the same time, but it was a cavern, and the different veins were more spread out...

Good job! When I am strip-mining, I look for veins of redstone and coal near each other and I'll usually find diamond within a few blocks. Gold and Diamond are more available in the lower areas so that may have been a reason that the three were so close.

Between your bases (If you make them) build a mine cart system. That way, you can get to different ones quicker

I've done that on one of my maps and it's worked out well. Since I have a Nether Portal at two of the houses, I made two tracks. If there are two cars at the same place, the trigger track send the other to the opposite end so I always have a car waiting. So far I have 2 destinations and 3rd on the way with a 4th in development.

    Gotta love Minecraft :biggrin.gif:

You can make it functional too, as a means to discard unwanted items out of buildings to fragile for lava or fire powered trash systems.

Basically your building can have a water source block with a piston under it, connected to the sewer system. Throw your unwanted things in it, push the button and the items are flushed into the sewer!

    Simple minecraft toilet!!

I like it. Simple but elegant design. How woud you keep the items flowing to a cesspool?

    Quote from MasterRedXIII

I think that the possibilities of mods for Minecraft on the Xbox will be limited. Now, first off you need to keep in mind that you don't have a full keyboard when playing on the Xbox. You only have your controller. <snip>
Anyways that was what I think will happen if Notch adds full mod compatibility to Minecraft on the XBLA.

There is the attachment for testing which connects to the bottom of the 360 controller and is quite nimble to use. If they wanted to allow for the use of this attachment, it wouldn't be hard to allow the controls to be mapped there.

But since the subject of this topic is mods, I agree that there will be little, if any, support for mods to the XBLA game.
