Wou want to be guard? I would like to help the server and be able to help others in the case that they are being slow to start on the server.
How long have you been on the server? Well, to tell the truth, I just joined about.. 15 or so minutes ago. My friend is named Chaserdog2 and he has told me a lot about the rules and I understand them fully.
Do you understand that abusing your powers as guard will lead to you being stripped of your status and maybe even banned? Yes, as I have said above I understand and have read fully the rules that have been given to me.
Why are you a good choice for guard? I have experience in many Minecraft servers, I will follow rules to the letter, and I will not abuse any of my guard capabilities. (Plus I have grammar =P)

If you are trying to get Alpha, this isn't really a good way to go about it. It's not all about activity. Rather, it's about a number of things; activity is just one of them. As long as you fulfill most of those things, you will be promoted.

To gain unfair advantages against other players playing legitly on the server by cheating/hacking. You'd be surprised at the amount of cheaters we find each day on the server. Not saying that you were fairly banned, as I wasn't online at the time.
Hang on, I was banned like AGES ago for x-raying, which I fully understand was a really stupid thing to do, does this mean that I will never be unbanned? I spent so much time on the server and It feels so bad now not being able to go on. People on the forums always talk about and event and stuff, and it just makes me annoyed at myself...
Rarely will a fairly-banned player be unbanned, bu you have a chance as long as you are honest and mature about it. Just don't go around cussing people out in different languages and you'll be good.

I wonder for how long that we will keep getting Alphas; obviously sometime all of us are going to quit the server/go inactive to allow more spots, but until then, I wonder how many more Guards will be promoted to Alpha.

I scrolled up all the way. He wasn't talking to anymore, nobody was talking to him, nobody else was saying anything of the sort, and he logged after as such to avoid questioning.
Definitely sounds suspicious. Is there a way for Viper/Noakii to check the commands used through console?
I'm new to this forum and forums in general so I dont know where I should post this or how to create my own thread but I have a major problem. Ive been playing on the server and I decided I wanted to go to D-block to check it out. So I decided to commit 5 offenses fast and get in the d-block. I commited 5 offenses and then was put in the regular jail where I was muted and put in there permanently. There is no count down, and I cant speak or do anything else. I was assuming it was bad guards doing this but I enjoy the server and I was hoping if someone could at some point go on and unmute me please
Are you sure that you were breaking PRISON rules as opposed to SERVER rules? I don't see how you were muted in jail, as an Alpha would've banned you for breaking server rules.
Yes, it does seem like a good idea overall, but there are some problems. It is an excuse for a Guard to jail for long periods of time even without significant proof - abusing. Someone may crash and it comes to the decision of a Guard who may choose to jail them in disbelief.
So mainly clear logging is very hard to moderate and I do not believe Guards should have the right to do such moderating, and jails of that length should be restricted to Alphas only.
The best solution to this problem would be a good combat logging plugin. We have tried many combat logging plugins in the past, however most of them have had something wrong that has deemed them worse than no plugin. This is why we have no plugin.
I think instead of relying on other's plugins, we should ask our Dev team to make a custom plugin.
Features I believe the plugin should have:
Messages telling the player they are in combat and not in combat
A command to tell if they are still in combat
Configurable combat time
No warping in combat
Configurable grace period (time to relog on after a disconnection, only one allowed per 10 minutes)
Detection of the type of disconnection message in console to allow crashes/ internet failure disconnects more time to relog.
Public messages saying when a user leaves the game while in combat
No using chest-keeper when in combat
A command to 'log out safely' which requires not moving or hitting players or taking damage for a configurable amount of time and then kicking the player with a message saying "Logged out safely"
(Maybe) An NPC spawning where the player logged after the grace period has ended (about one minute) that can be one-shot killed. Also send a message to the player in combat with the logger.
(Maybe) After the grace period has ended drop all the logger's items at the player in combat with them's feet.
This sounds like a bit of a complicated plugin...once I suggested to Viper that we should get a plugin that allows you to jail a player within a minute of them logging off, but he stated that it would be too complicated.
And also, any guards want perms to a plot? I'm charging 100k per person. The plot is CY3B first on left so it's pretty accesable. It's 2 10*10 plots linked by a retractable bridge. It has a mycellium farm and nether warts, potions, and plenty of storage. PM me if interested.
I used to play SC2, until I beat the campaign. I never really saw any reason to play it again afterwards.
I am a guard and I jailed someone for an hour... He spammed the whole chat and several people have screenshots. I think there should be a special jail for people that will get banned. Like to where it would have the region send-chat denied. It would be so much easier and better so that when there are no wardens/alphas on we can jail them forever and wait for a warden to ban them.
I have suggested this before (man the things I have suggested) as well, but it doesn't seem likely for it to happen.
Now this is a great idea. We could make the jail name "ban" or b so it's easy to remember. He should also not be able to see what other people are saying. Remember when Noakii had that silent library, like that. It should be a pitch dark room made of bedrock.
Again, already been suggested but doesn't seem likely to happen due to it being easily abused.
Just a little update with plugin updating or adding. Viper won't be on till the weekend (I believe this is what he said) so until then a few notes I wanted to point out:
Mines aren't auto since the config messed up. This means, inevitably the mines will be empty more frequently.
No plugins can be added or even thought about by viper, unless he does check the forums.
Plugins like x-ray blockers are bad for a big server such as ours because of all the blocks it has to hide
This is a note primary on the 'lack of wardens' statements I've seen flowing around lately.
After auto mine reset and the promotion of alphas there is actually no need for wardens beside reverting scams or banning offline people and other mandatory warden-only permissions stuff. A while back before plugins were added (The ones we have, not plugins in general) wardens were needed a lot, ranking up, mine reset, hackers etc. The plugins we have pretty much cover all of these. Anti-hack plugins have been added, a somewhat spam protection has been added (Its not the best, thats my opinion too) and things like auto mine reset have been added. With the small team of wardens we have I actually have no clue on what we'd need another warden for, the only thing I could think of is guard apps and I'm starting to become more active on here.
The things that I can think of that a warden can do at the moment are:
1. Teleport to players, and players to them.
2. Plot permissions.
3. Events.
4. Knowing why the server is down if it ever is.
5. Flying/building new things.
6. Events.
7. Fixing broken signs, etc.
8. Updating the C Foyer.
9. Events.
10. Refilling dispensers.
11. Having fun with the players.
12. Events.
You still love them.

I personally cannot remember a time when you have hosted an event. What I do remember, however is when you had your pig skin. I also remember the day that I logged out in the A Bank that previous night and logged back in while you were redesigning it. At first, I thought, "Where am I?" Then I remembered. I asked you if it was okay that I was in there. You then said, "Yeah, it's not like you're going to die or anything :P."
Hey everyone. I think that the maximum jail time should be increased for combat logging from 30 minutes to 45-60.
Why? So that we can discourage loggers.
Long has PvP logging been an issue on Convicted. Each day, more and more people turn to the dark side. (Logging.)
It is annoying to have to wait for them to feel like coming back to the server a week after their log. It is a time waster to have to wait on them for extended periods of time.
By then, you will usually forget who it was that logged. That is what they hope to achieve by logging.
I think that it should be a discouraged practice on our server. 30 minutes is not punishment enough, after having to wait on them for the next few days.
Alphas got fed up with it as well, to the point of temp-banning the repeat offenders. However, this was recently discontinued due to it not being fair for them to have to wait from 3 hours to 3 days to log back on. I do not blame the Alphas, this was indeed fair punishment, in my opinion.
Back to my point, however. I do not believe that 30 minutes is fair to he Guard that had been logged on, to constantly search out the logger. This is especially true when one must go inactive for extended periods of time.
I feel that an increased jail time would be good enough for us Guards. Perhaps 45-60 minutes for the repeat and well-known criminals.
I have not been logged on recently that I can remember. I was inspired to post this due to the alleged claim that Aldron jailed a logger for an hour. If this is true, I do not blame him.
While I would never do such a thing like that myself, I feel that a rule change is in order for combat logging.

I think that IGN should be spelled out in the Guard and Ban apps. People seem to be confusing this with the IGN website, or just do not know what it means. This can be resolved two ways:

B.) Format: IGN (In-Game Username):
It just seems like more and more people are confusing IGN with other things. Just my opinion.

That's messed up, seeing as how I was just a Trainee for a month.
