I've tried to do it myself, but it looks awful. Probably because of my lack of graphic knowledge.

Guys, for fire, you might want to use the plant texture for it. I think it could work.
For torch, just have another wood block with torch painted on it.

posted a message on From Stone Age to Cities Project
This is currently on-hold, wait till the Rome Project is finished. The reason I posted this is so other people won't steal my ideas and I won't forget..

A map that will not reset. First, you build caves and basic shelters.. to a huge city with apartments, towers and huge buildings. This isn't a realistic history simulation.

    1) Stone Age
Make caves and basic shelters out of stone.

    2) Village Stage
Small huts with farms, and maybe fires

    3) Village Stage 2
More buildings like churches and libraries, more huts.

    4) Castle Stage
    Build castles

    5) Town Stage
    Houses, other buildings. Like this

    6) City Stage
Go to a city and you'll see.

    How this will work:
The transitions will not happen instantly. They will not grow instantly. I'll use a script to record a backup every 30 minutes or so and store them all. For example, when it is going to be Castle Stage, slowly the huts will be demolished.

    Grass
    Wood
    Tree Trunk
    Dirt
    Sand

It's like a infinite map that is bigger than earth, where you pay something like $5 a month to play. You can kill monsters, mine/trade resources, build buildings, raid other player's fortresses, and lots of other fun stuff in a persistent online world.

Basically, a texture pack used to build ancient rome for "The Rome Project". Check out this page, roofs are needed, so are the building materials (I'm not sure what that is, marble?)

Note: I posted this here so other people won't steal my idea.
Build a roman city in minecraft. This will require custom texture packs, I will host a server (if I can get it to work) and people can start building!

    Custom Texture Pack
Is anyone willing to make a custom texture pack? My graphic skills suck. You'll be listed as credits.

    Server
I'll host a server when we have a custom texture pack..

    Resources
    Ancient Roman Buildings & Homes
    Ancient Rome Daily Life
CivCity Rome Civilpedia (contains a lot of detailed information + art, strongly recommended)
    Wikipedia: Ancient Rome
Google Earth 320 AD Rome Strongly recommended

    Requires

    :opblock: :opblock: :opblock:
    :obsidian: :obsidian: :obsidian:
    :opblock: :wood: :wood:

    = heliblock

    Helicopter:

    :sponge: :sponge: :sponge:
    :sponge: :opblock: :sponge:
    :sponge: :sponge: :sponge:

Fuel: (right click when holding to fill)
    4x Coal

1 fuel allows helicopter to be running for 20 seconds.
If you're near a helicopter, right clicking makes you in the helicopter. WASD=move, space = fly up. If you drop down (fall damage) of more than 5 blocks, then you will get 0.5 hearts of fall damage per additional block including first one.

You can fire arrows in helicopter.

You will never regain health. Not from anything.

This means that if you get damaged by 2.5 hearts, you can't heal back.
