'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command.
Click me Windows 7 users/X86 users
Common Problem: Minecraft console displays 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command.'

    • This is usually caused by a bad java installation, and has two fixes.
    A. Reinstall java.
    B. Do this method.

The links for 'Windows 7 users' and 'Common Problem' do not work anymore. They take you to a non-existent thread.

It's a shame because I'm having that issue where "java is not recognized as an internal or external command." I've done all of the above to fix the issue too and non of these solutions are working. I'm hoping these links can be fixed so my issue can (hopefully) be resolved.

So, I've been trying to make my own minecraft server for me and a few of my friends to play on together. I've been reading tutorials and they all first start out with this version of Java that I've got to have before I do anything with minecraft. I follow the steps, type in cmd to open run and check the java version by typing in "java -version".
Well when I type this, it comes up saying Java is not recognized. It told me in the tutorial that if this comes up, I'm supposed to go to the Java website and download the latest version. I did this...I don't know how many times. It even told me "This version of Java has already been installed, continue?", I clicked yes on that anyways to be completely sure I had it downloaded. Yet it still tells me in cmd that java is not recognized. I thought, well ignore it since my computer did say the version was already installed. It tells me next after downloading the server files to open the "start server.bat" program and the first thing it tells me is that the version of java is not recognized. I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong here, my computer refuses to recognize java and I can't really start a server with this in the way. I'd appreciate all the help I can get!!! :SSSS:
