posted a message on 2x2 Spruce Trees are not growing

As you can see in the picture, in the foreground I have planted a 2x2 set of Spruce Trees that have not grown. In the background, I planted several individual trees that have. It has been a month or mote in in-game days. They have only sky above them, I have use a stack of Bone Meal on them, and they are planted in my backyard so to speak. I tried planting other saplings in other areas but the result is the same. What am I not doing?

No. That laptop does have internet. I am using it now. The issue with the laptop is that it is old with a slow CPU and memory so it is hard to pay anything more than solitaire on it. Basically, it is a word processor. I do have Optifine of my desktop. I will check on that.

posted a message on Playing offline

I am not sure where to post this so... l recently, something happened to my PC and it will not connect to the internet. For many reasons, I wait playing on my laptop. The option is to play offline. And that is okay other than not being able to play multiplayer. However, I have also noticed that all the "Options" do not seem to work, primarily the light settings; it is way too bright even with everything related to light on 0. I can see Zombies from a mile way at night! Outside at night, the sky is black but at ground level, it is brighter than day. My question is, is that supposed to happen? I attach a screenshot.

posted a message on Wanting to build a city but I have no idea what world type to build it on!

I think an enormous city on a superflat world would be kind of boring unless you take the time to build your own hills and rivers. To be really spectacular, you need variety: bridges over rivers, mansions on hilltops, cathedrals on hilltops, stores in flatter areas, railroads crossing ravines, wall like the Great Wall of China...

posted a message on Do you make new world everytime new minecraft version released ?

I do like to build in survival. However, I am not very creative and aesthetic is a problem for me. I get ideas from others mostly. I have literally build a Woodland Mansion in one of my worlds. Since then, I almost alway create a map room in my homes. I do like exploring. My dream is to have a wall with 7x7 area of fully explored mapes.

posted a message on "Rainbow" effect

Recently (this week) I have experience loading issues where I can see through blocks, It used to happen but it was rare. How, it happens a lot. Yesterday, I started seeing these colored stripes. What causes them? Are the two issues related?

Tell me if I am wrong: It seems to me that biomes that have already explored do not change with updates. I know that when bamboo was added, my local jungle did not have any and I had to go searching for a new one. The villagers did not change their appearance although their taking jobs did. Having said that, the oceans did change. The bees did too. hmm

posted a message on Interesting Nether Portal

OK. This is super interesting. I have a Nether Portal Hub. I knew the coordinates of my target location so I divided it by 8 and started digging. I miscalculated and instead of 300 blocks, I went 400. In the overworld, that would be 800 blocks from where I wanted to be! It put me in the middle of the ocean, in a cave, and I think under an Ocean Monument! At least, I was attacked by a Guardian (it looked large and gray but Elder Guardians outside of the Monument?) I've already got a portal here, might as well do something with it but that is a future project.

By the way, the portal is at level 13!

The questions I have are: Do you think I should try to get to the Monument from below? How far up do you think I would have to swim? Is there a limit to how deep the ocean can be? I have the items needed to make a Conduit but not the Prismarine to give it power.

Take away the villagers' beds. You can make an alternative with wool and for headboard and/or foot board.

I see videos of people flying and building monstrous structures with total ease and control. We I try, I end up drifting. How do they seem to stop on a dime?

If you are talking about Creative (which I assume you are) where resources are unlimited, I would thing a plains biome with some amount of hills would be my pick. If you are thinking about Survival, because of the great availability of resources, some type of forest would work fine. There are a lot more that I would think are next to impossible: Jungles and Dark Forests to name just a few.
