Apr 7, 2014The world's longest continuously running laboratory experiment is the Pitch Drop experiment at the University of Queensland. The experiment commenced in 1930 and is currently located in the school of Mathematics and Physics in the Parnell Building, named after the professor who started the experiment. 8 drops of pitch have fallen since the experiment began, the last on the 28th November, 2000. A live view of the experiment can be seen on this page http://smp.uq.edu.au/content/pitch-drop-experimentPosted in: General Off Topic
Mar 19, 2014Hello, my main SSP world has suddenly developed huge lag spikes making it unplayable. They usually begin to occur after having the world loaded for 5 minutes or so, and pretty much always happen when I place redstone, torches ect. My frames drop to 0, and everything becomes unresponsive, including pressing escape to get to the menu, and even the actual menu once it is opened.Posted in: Java Edition Support
I have tried using the minecraft region fixer, but it say's I have no errors at all. I think my world is corrupt, but I'm not sure. This world was created in Minecraft 1.2, so it is a little old, if that makes any difference.
I have tried replacing the level.dat and other files form a working world, but this does not fix the problem.
Any help would be appreciated thanks

I agree, whats the point of making stuff in minecraft if there's not struggle making it?
Oh yes, making a huge highly resource and time intensive mob system plus a fully automatic sorter is no struggle, but making 164 iron blocks, THAT is a struggle...

Hi, what is your budget for building a new system this will allow me to work around that and see if your system is any good for your budget also will you require an Operating System, Monitor, Keyobard and mouse in this budget or not?
However looking at that current system you have done a pretty good job I would probably change that motherboard because for a $200 motherboard you can get better than that consider something such as a MSI Z87-GD65 it is about $220 and a stunnig board. Your GPU is pretty good only thing I would do is change it to a MSI TF N7702GB/OC its cheaper than your GIGABYTE delivers the same performance is cheaper and would colour match the suggested MSI board.
My budget is $2000 maximum excluding monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS, but i would prefer it to be less than $2000, and I am very happy with the current price.
The MSI motherboard you suggested is about $260, which seems like a lot to pay for a motherboard, although I'm not all that clued up on motherboards and picking one has been giving me a bit of grief, so I think I'll need to take another look at them and see if I can find a better value/better quality board for the price.
The MSI graphics card is $40 more than the gigabyte one, and is only clocked at 1.10 Ghz while the gigabyte card is 1.14Ghz, so to me it seems like the gigabyte one is a better card, although I certainly may have overlooked something I'm not aware of and could be wrong.
Dec 28, 2013So, I am looking to build a computer after I move in the new year, and am trying to decide on what system i want. It will be mostly for gaming, but I also do a little photoshop stuff and lots of multitasking (hence why I chose an i7 over an i5). This is a potential build I have come up with, and want some opinions on whether it is 'any good', or if i could get similar performance for better value using other parts.Posted in: Hardware & Software Support
My budget is $2000 at the absolute maximum for the computer itself, excluding monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS. Even though my max is $2000, I would really like it to cost less than this, and I am rather happy with the price I have come up with for this potential build.

Oct 6, 2013I've decided that basically, I want to get myself a real treat and finally upgrade from a laptop, as it is starting to have a few problems with new games. So i want a desktop, and this is what I've come up with. Now, I'm certainly no expert, so I was wondering what kind of performance I would get from this, and if there are any blatant incompatibilities that I have missed.Posted in: Hardware & Software Support

I may also consider overclocking this, so would the cooling be sufficient to accommodate for this?
Aug 7, 2013If you left click and drag items across the crafting table, that stack of items will automatically evenly distribute itself into the crafting grid. You can also right click and drag to only place one item in each crafting grid square.Posted in: Discussion
Aug 3, 2013Well guys, here it is. The biggest Minecraft survival build ever, over on planet Minecraft. A wool pyramid with a shoddy smooth stone interior, in a world loaded with mods.Posted in: Survival Mode
Yeah, you are trying to create way too much hype for this, it is an eyesore.

I agree, this does not make zombies harder to fight, it makes them an unstoppable nuisance. Why is Mojang trying to make mobs harder and harder? Every single update has had "Let's make zombies/skeletons harder!!!" It's just like the skeleton rapid-shooting you at close range. A player can't do that, why should a skeleton? Also it doesn't make the skeleton harder to fight, it just makes him more annoying. A group of skeletons at close range can easily kill you now. I was killed in a survival games because of a frigin trio of skeletons!!!!! How embarrassing is that?!?!?!
You say that the changes don't make skeletons any harder, only more annoying. But you died from the new skeletons, therefore they are harder.

This is my storage room. It certainly isn't the most efficient use of space, and it is a bit awkward having 2 item frames for three chests, but i do like it. It is better than my old junkie storage room anyway...
