-- We have made it into Minecraft 1.7! --
My main goal with this post was to make the community interested in more biomes so that Mojang would prioritise that aspect in their busy schedules. And it seems we have finally made it happen! Additionally we also got 2 of my suggestions into the game, which of course is fantastic.
---------------------------------
Blossom Grove
Now put down your guard and enjoy the moonlight in this mob free but oh so rare environment. Unfortunately, the underground isn't as peaceful. If you are lucky you will also encounter a deserted old vineyard for some delicious grapes. This rare fruit replenish only 0,5 hunger each, but they are all eaten at the same time, making it the quickest but most expensive food source.
Rumours say the farmers have noticed crops grow faster.
Old version:
Oasis
Take your horse and embark on a journey to discover the Orient. These warm and barren deserts might contain a scarce amount of watering wholes, a common place to find various merchants with donkeys full of goods to trade. Make sure to have your wallet full, for these rare goods cannot be acquired elsewhere.
Fungi Biome
The luminescent mushrooms proves to be a perfect, yet mystique light source in the deep caves of the underworld. Rumours speak about small glowing angler-fishes that thrive in nearby underground lakes.
Thanks to Hansentale for the inspiration.
Tropical Islands
Palm trees grow on the beaches of these plant rich atoll islands located on the great oceans. Breaking palm leaves spawn coco nuts, which are an essential food source out here.
Savannah - IMPLEMENTED IN 1.7
In the never ending terrain of the African wilderness, animals thrive in the shadows of the acacia trees. Clay is commonly found in nearby watering holes.
Wild West desert - IMPLEMENTED IN 1.7
This arid landscape consists of a new reddish stone, and a new matching sandblock*. Lone wanderers need to watch out for the vultures, for they will attack any trespasser carrying raw meet.
*)The sandblock is not present in this screenshot since it's very time consuming covering the grounds.
Autumn forest biome
A colourful forest arises as you continue your exploration. No one in these woods will ever starve, as the ripest apples fall from the trees and the ground is covered by mushrooms galore!
Frost biome
A cold breeze caught the landscape by surprise, which immediately froze the tiniest straw of grass. Make sure you wear some armour, or you will soon be history.
Darklands
The sky darkens as you enter this gloomy realm. A great challenge awaits the one who seek to face the death. Now grab your diamond equipment, you will need it.

Regular_Hexahedron posted a message on Tourney Swords - Swords That Deal 0 DamageWhat if you want to have a friendly duel with a player, or whack a mob to move them with a knockback effect, but not kill them? Allow me to suggest tourney swords.Posted in: Suggestions
Creating a tourney sword would be easy, and would simply add 2 pieces of wool to the wooden sword crafting recipe. It would effectively be a wooden sword covered in blunting felt.
Although tourney swords could still knockback targets, it would not cause the target to lose any hearts and could not damage most armors. This makes it ideal for moving mobs about and for play fighting.
If you're dueling a friend, how do you decide who wins? Tourney swords would be able to damage one thing: leather armor. So if you wear leather armor and battle, the loser can be whoever had their armor completely break first. -

Daun posted a message on 1.2 New AI!I decided due to lack of extra time to only read about the 1.2 snapshot features and never really tried any of them out. So hopping into it was a completely new experience to me. What I want to talk about is the new AI that has been implemented.Posted in: Discussion
Obviously things are a little different now, what with the whole system being completely overhauled. The one thing that I can say is definitely good is the monster pathing. They seem a lot smarter (but maybe a bit slow and pokey) about climbing up and down things for the most part. What surprised me was none I've fought so far avoid hazards. Not that I would expect that from zombies or skeletons, but I would think a creeper would think to avoid fire and cactus.
Their behaviors are somewhat new as well. I'm not going to get into the fun fluff like creepers being scared of cats; that's just the beginning of great additions I'm sure and the possibilities haven't even begun to happen in this patch. I'm going to look at it more from a combat perspective, because lets face it this is how players interact with monsters. From what I've seen some of them don't put up a fight the same way as they used to.- If a skeleton has a clear shot at you in the open, he'll just stand there and pump out arrows even if you get right up in his face. He won't try to move away from you or zag around, making him an easier kill than before since he doesn't move around.
- Creepers still do a fakeout explosion from time to time, but when they begin to tick they used to circle straife around making it harder to know which way to run and avoid their detonation. Now they just stand there, and the way to avoid is an easy choice; just fall back.
- Quite impressed with spiders so far, but I need to find some in a cave with lots of crazy terrain to see how well they do in those situations.
- Zombies are pretty awesome at what they do still, but maybe spend a bit too much time clambering down a hill carefully to try and eat your brains.

Drainal posted a message on Extreme EnchantmentsExtreme EnchantingPosted in: Suggestions
Enchantments to me, when they were first added in MineCraft 1.0, seemed like a joke when I first experienced it. All the diverse enchantments and all the diverse types astounded me. So, here I propose maybe the best overhaul for Enchanting. I will also upload some of my sucky pictures :\ so you can get a better idea on what I'm actually talking about.
+Add Enchantment Books that will sometimes be given as loot in Dungeons, Abandonded MineShafts & Strongholds with a spawning chance changed due to location and only 1 book per chest(s).
Spawning for these locations will be as follows.
Dungeons - 50% chance of enchantment book(s), 1 per chest(s)
Abandonded MineShafts - 65% chance of enchantment book(s), 1 per chest(s)
Strongholds - 80% chance of enchantment book(s)
*When you obtain an enchantment book, the name of the Enchantment(s) possibility is noted on the book, for example:
NOTE: This was an extremely rough draft of the picture as I couldn't find some of the needed textures to complete it in the MineCraft.jar file. I'm going to try and find the Enchantment Tint and overlap it onto the Enchantment Book item so it can be noticeable. I might provide a Default texture pack version, also. I'll even try to re-size it, because I accidentally took the picture in FullScreen mode... Again. Then I'll join all of the text together so it looks like an official enchantment item. :wink.gif:
+Add the ability to store these Enchantment Books into a bookshelf and the possibility of getting that enchantment increased by 30%
*You may only store 1 book in a bookshelf and you may store/retrieve it by right clicking the bookshelf - Exactly like Music Input/Output for a Jukebox.
+Add Bulging Bookshelves; When Enchantment Books are stored in a bookshelf, the bookshelf should bulge graphically, but having no extra space of a block added (Basically it will look like there's a book bulging out of the bookshelf, but it doesn't take up a block and you can walk through it, like reeds)
Enchantment Books will DECODE the Enchantment(s) from the Enchantment Book(s) stored in the bookshelves near the Enchantment Table; like this.
And don't think I forgot about the Enchantment Book spawning percentages too. Also, all the Enchantment Book enchantments have the same percentage of gaining them in an Enchantment book compared to getting them for the Tool/Armour/Weapon without them. You have a 33.% chance of getting either a Tool Enchantment Book, an Armour Enchantment Book and a Weapon Enchantment book. I hope all this is clear enough, comment if you have any questions.
-Abandoned MineShafts will give you a 65% chance increase of obtaining an Enchantment Book for TOOLS; Pickaxes, Axes and Shovels. (17.5% for Weapons and Armour)
-Dungeons will give you a 65% chance increase of obtaining an Enchantment Book for WEAPONS; Swords & Bows. (17.5% for Armour and Tools)
-Strongholds will give you a 65% chance of obtaining an Enchantment Book for ARMOUR. (17.5% for Tools and Weapons) -

FireHawkDelta posted a message on Better than DiamondYour logic is wrong, it makes no sense.Posted in: Suggestions
Your logic: if you use more diamonds in a tool, it'll be stronger and more durable.
Real logic: if you use more diamonds in a tool, it'll be bigger and heavier, like trying to haul around a feulless car.
So, if I use a very long and fat sword, is it really 9 times as sharp as a knife? -

FireHawkDelta posted a message on Harder mobsPosted in: SuggestionsQuote from the next techy
i would not like to see this in the normal game. if skellys can break glass then why have windows at all?
if you want this or harder mobs go play hardcore mode or get a mod.
If the minecraft team put this in the normal game every thing would be just about imposible there already working on harder and new types of mobs, in the latest snap they will run for cover when it is morning, notch has already recently given zombies armor points, we need new mobs not really annoying impossible to defeat ones. we need new mobs that we can really think against like the blaze it has a weakeness already 3 fire balls and it is out of ammo.
Did you notice he said hard mode only? People who actually play on hard will like this, it adds challenge.
I thought of some more things:
Zombie pigmen group in a formation, it's very simple, they try to surround you. Once they've prevented escape, they all charge at you and overwhealm you.
Ghasts purse players, if players hide, they leave, since they can't target them.
Spiders only climb when it's nesessary, otherwise they'll descend.(No more spiders trapped on cielings!)They also go around things.
Silverfish should pierce armor in all difficulties, right now armor makes them harmles. -

Jherrick2 posted a message on Biome Specific TownsOkay, so after perusing through the forums for a while, I decided I wanted to share my ideas as well. Though I am hesitant to do so, as I have not scoured every inch of these pages so as not to post the same idea as someone else. I am usually found giving support to those whom I think need it. I do not flame others for their ideas. If they have a nice idea, yet a poor presentation, my post is almost always a suggestion to that person as to how he/she may improve upon it to make it more understandable or more easily accepted. Expect to see me posting quite often on all different areas as I have many suggestions and Ideas.Posted in: Suggestions
First off on the list of these is one that recently hit me. Biome specific NPC villages. I am almost certain someone else has posted this same idea already, but as I stated, I have not looked through all the posts.
What these are, simply put, are exactly what they read as. A biome specific NPC village. Meaning an NPC village found out in the desert would be made of sandstone, not wood and cobble. A village found in the taiga would use dark wood. And then we have the already in use villages for the plains and forests.
I wish I could explain it better than that... but I dont want to ramble and repeat myself. So there you have it. Short, sweet, and to the point. If you support it, please click the little green button, if you do not support it, please dont flame, merely offer your opinion as to why this would be a bad idea, and if you are so inclined as to do so, explain how you would improve upon it. I would do the same for you, and have done so for others already. We are a community after all, and communities support each other.
Thank you and have a nice day. :biggrin.gif: - To post a comment, please login.
