DETAIL! PLEASE! One sentance isn't a suggestion, it's just a fleeting thought that passed through your head.
And from that sentance, Here are my positives and criticisms/opinion:
Aerial vehicles would be nice, but to me aeroplanes and other heavier than air vessels seem to me to be too out of the scope of Minecraft. Because you simply don't have the technology to mkae it. Firstly, you would have to craft wool/string into thin sheets (How?) and stretch them over a wooden frame (Which you fitted together precisely, and by some miracle got it right) before fitting them both onto the side of the body (Both precisely opposite AND strongly enough to the body so they don't fall off during flight), there is then however you're going to balance it, (Which must also be made PERFECTLY balanced) ALL built on a metre square surface.
Okay, so you've got past that, now there's the issue of propulsion, any engine you made would have to be light enough to be lifted along with the frame which is relatively heavy to the lift, so, that's that. Without some magical explanation (Such as redstone) it's not happening.
Great, that's the realism argument gotten rid of, now onto gameplay mechanics. For a plane to move at a believable speed, it may well break the chunk loading. Also, it makes travelling absolutely 100% RISK FREE. Even if you were flying low to the ground, no skeleton could possibly hit you moving that fast.
That's most of my disapproval of this idea, now onto the potential improvements:
Making the aircraft lighter than air would help a lot. It would make it a lot more believable, as would making some sort of air-mob that can and will only attack flying players. That would remove air travel being easier and simply make it a alternative. Potentially even a fun alternative if said air-mobs dropped items unobtainable elsewhere, or that were simply harder.

Right now planes would be gliders with wooden wings that glide! Really look at Minepedia!
Since theres been no post about server's (or anything in this thread) i was thinking of joining a multiclan server until we are able to get our own up and we can use that chance to get to know any of the other clans so we know who to make alliances with and who we should stay away from.

On Topic: I do not know what to say other than I like it and I do not. Earlier I posted an idea to make Minecraft more realistic. It failed like a person getting roundhouse kick by Chuck Norris. I believe we should add a mode called Realistic Mode where there are no monsters but bats and you can not change resources like wood to planks unless you make cut stone by smashing two stones together and etc.
