posted a message on Blocks won't load in custom maps
All of a sudden I've encountered a rather odd issue. When I install custom maps, the blocks won't load. This isn't the "invisible blocks" glitch that many users have been reporting. Rather, when I load a custom map there are no blocks whatsoever and I fall infinitely. The old saves I have still work perfectly; this only appears to affect new maps (maps I create with the "start new map" option also work fine).

    Any solutions?

Just saying, even with the best designers people don't usually download without a preview. So considering the, erm...graphics quality...of your avatar, I'd say you definitely need a preview. And lots of clear pictures in said preview.

Not trying to be hurtful, just honest.

Uh...you can't link to files on your computer. You have to upload them to a filesharing website first. Try imageshack.us

No offense, but the skin kinda looks like someone who has never used paint before but wants to make cool art anyway so they just put colorful brightly-colored lines in geometric patterns.

posted a message on So I just "wasted" 6hrs
Terraforming is an important skill when making large structures. I cleared out a huge space for the city on my server and had to manually smooth out almost the entire surrounding area. Looking back on that I wish I'd noticed WorldEdit's "smoothing" brush...

WorldEdit. Seriously, it's completely essential for building large structures. Plus, it has this awesome brush that lets you smooth out areas to make them look more natural - it even does things like adding sand when smoothing an area down to water level where there is a water body. Speaking of which, get Essentials too. And I recommend getting EpicZones so you can allocate certain areas where people can or cannot build on a per user or per group basis.

You can't do it with just stacked sticky pistons because they can only retract one block, no matter what. Instead, try this:

posted a message on Randomizing redstone?
connect the pressure plate to a variable output that is hooked up to a clock - every X amount of ticks the output of the pressure plate shifts between the dispenser and nothing (output leading nowhere) then the randomness is created by the fact that the time at which someone steps on the pressure plate is not based on any sort of timer, so it's impossible to tell which output the plate will be hooked up to at any given time.

    Schrodinger would be proud...

posted a message on Flying/noclip mods
    Quote from Eggsor

me and my friends play on a small brohoster server,
and we have been trying to get these mods for a while but all the ones we can find either dont work or dont work the way we want, we want to be able to do a noclip sort of flying such as the one in single player commands or zombes mod pack(which we cant figure out how to install) so if you know how to help us or know a flying mod that works please describe and post links.

if I'm not mistaken, flying and noclip mods are handled locally, as in you just install normal flying mods and then enable the use of such mods on the server.

posted a message on EpicZones enter/exit messages with child zones?
I'm using Epiczones to set up certain areas of the town in my server (EG: no enemy mobs within the city limits, slow health recharge at a hospital, building perms on players' home plots, etc) but I've noticed a small issue: if I set a parent zone to have an enter/exit message, the message is delivered when entering a child zone. Is there a way to have the message only played when going from the parent zone to either no zone or to an unrelated zone?

I've used my server's world in ssp before, no problem.

If you start the server on your laptop and then just connect to localhost wont it let you play offline?

I don't get claustrophobic, but low ceilings really bug me. Also 1-wide hallways. The only place where I have 1-wide hallways or 2-high ceilings are in my underground redstone tunnels or in the prison on my server, where I had to make the hallway smaller to fit everything in an aesthetically pleasing way. (I am obsessed with aesthetics)

posted a message on Printing Out Minecraft
I've always known how to export minecraft worlds into my 3d modelling program, and I've been printing objects for almost a year now; I can't believe I never thought to print out any of my minecraft creations! Then again, while many things I make are awesome, most of it wouldn't look very good as a print. I'll have to change that!

I think the best (looking at least) would be pistons pushing iron blocks. That would look like a bank vault and be sorta secure-ish

posted a message on How do you make the piston contraption that pushes the sand?
basically you make a clock (a 32 clock maybe? Or a 16 clock - some multiple of 4 with enough delay for movement) that has 4 splits (places where the repeaters are separated by redstone dust) and each split is connected to a subsequent piston. That way the pistons are triggered in order in a circle.
