posted a message on Can you use TNT to mine Blocks/resources?
Lets say you dig a 2x1 shaft strait into a mountain.

Then you start backing out, placing TNT every few blocks until you are back outside.

You ignite the TNT and cause a explosive chain reaction.

Would the TNT explosion result in dropping blocks AND exposing/mining whatever resources was in the blast? Or would this simply destroy the resource?

    Agreed.

Spiders shouldn't be the ONLY source of string.

    Bump Since Boo Update.

This is suggestion would work especially well, in regards to many players' dissatisfaction with current mob spawn rates.

    Quote from Drakona »
The way to increase danger without increasing tedium is to not allow the player control over it.

If you tell the player that the deeper he goes, the more likely monsters are to spawn NO MATTER HOW BRIGHT IT IS, he'll just get scared. Which is what you want.

Then, at that point you are taking away the feeling of "control over your world" that's been a staple of Minecraft.

I agree that the mob spawn needs to be tweaked to be a little less ridiculous. It's approaching boarder-line "not fun" territory.

You don't need to get rid of creepers, per say. I actually proposed that Creepers and any future destructive mobs be part of their own difficulty level.

    Thanks for your input.

Yes, I agree that the Creeper's destructive quality is minimal, and an annoyance at worst, I think this is an important opportunity to set a precedence as to how it will affect gameplay in the future.

With future monsters in mind, I feel that there needs to be a different setting than just Monsters/No Monsters.

Destructive creatures should have it's on categorization.

That way, the player can choose what kind of survival mode they would like:
    -Survival to your health
-Survival to your health AND creations.

    EDITED: For post-Halloween Update

It would be nice to have an option in addition to the difficulty settings to turn off destructive mob s such as creepers (or future mobs) or at least turn off their TNT affect.

I don't want to play on peaceful, because I really don't mind the other hostile mobs in the game. That's a level of risk that I feel adds to the fun and generally enhances the gameplay experience.

Note this inst a "complaint topic" regarding dying.

    -I don't mind dying.
    -I don't mind being 1-shotted
-I don't mind the occasional loss of items, either.

I'm simply showing my personal view in terms of game concept and design. I know some people like creepers and the creeper has become a significant part of what minecraft is. I also know that more destructive mobs may be implemented in the future. I just think there should be an addendum to the tiers of game difficulty

    Peaceful: No mobs :Bench:
Normal: Mobs spawn and harm you. :Skeleton: :Spider: :Zombie:
Hard/Destructive: Mobs hit harder and some can also destroy blocks. :SSSS:

    My reasoning for this is:
In a game that allows creative freedom to flow with some level of risk to enhance the experience, making a mob specifically designed to inhibit that creative fun is counter-productive to the intent of the game for some players.

If you have to stifle any creativity in response to a feature or content in the game, there's going to be some friction, there. Some players, such as myself don't feel like having to make compromises creativity simply because we can't do anything about one annoying mob that doesn't seem to represent (if I may be so bold) the game's theme. The theme being a Sandbox Survival, Exploration, and creation game.

Skeletons, zombies, spiders, are all great for the survival aspect of the game. Creepers, those just don't fit in with the creative-freedom theme, I think.

It's the game equivalent of a bully who kicks kids' sand castles at the beach. To some players, there's simply nothing fun about it.

So to recap, I would humbly suggest an option to either change the destructive mobs to a separate difficulty mode, or a toggle to turn them, or their destructive effects off.

Thanks! And I look forward to any constructive criticism or opinions.

TL;DR: Allow destructive mobs to be toggled or listed in its own difficulty level.
