It's not about performance, java or RAM, the 3d engine runs very smooth. It's the extremely bad network lag and glitches. If you don't know the difference between low fps, lag and position glitches, you shouldn't comment :)

But who cares, I got a 1.2.5 now again with a proper single player mode, other games don't have content updates at all, so I'm fine with sticking to that version. Runs fine and all mob glitches gone.

posted a message on Is this going to improve?
A while ago I thought I check out the new Minecraft updates and changes. Mostly I play those CTM adventure maps in singleplayer, as the multiplayer experience was pretty limited because of the many lag and glitch problems in SMP.

So I updated the client and loaded a singleplayer map, few minutes into the game when fighting the first mobs, I felt like in SMP, thought first it's some Java problems on my machine, but soon discovered that this bad SMP stuff has been taken as a base for SP now, too. My PC is high end, and performance is not an issue, so I deleted MC again because it simply got unplayable.

Now, some time later, tried lates update again - still the same problems. Ghost blocks floating around, mobs stand right before me but can't hit them..., that's not even just lag - mobs seem to glitch meters away and stay there until some magic location update happens (or not and you die first).

I don't want to complain, I had already lots of fun with this game for those few bucks, but does anyone know if this is going to improve significantly again?

And is there somewhere a release for download which has still the old SP without the SMP stuff?

I just found the map collection here.. looks pretty awesome, can I play them with Minecraft 1.0, or do I need to downgrade to a specific version , for some reason?

posted a message on Caves etc. are too large.
caves are nice, but *only* caves are annoying. like there would be only mountains on the surface. or only desert.

all that people want, are some non-swiss-cheese-areas, what could possibly be a valid reason against this? caving fans would still be able to find plenty of caves, they don't need to be *everywhere* !

posted a message on Can't dig 20 blocks...
Can't dig 20 blocks in any direction anymore without opening up another ravine and endless cave system.. not that I don't like caves, but I also like creating own mine and underground spaces, and this became impossible :sad.gif: Want to create a mobtrap below the surface, but can't keep up with lighting up all nearby caves because it's more or less *only* cave where I go...

Are the areas with "solid underground" completely gone in the game?

posted a message on Can we expect end of developer griefing with the upcoming release?
Since a while I took a pause from the game, as with every new "update" some new way of "developer griefing" occured. Like enderman mob came up which stupidly moved around lots of random blocks (awesome when some block is missing in a big redstone circuit). Or biomes and whole landscape creating changed, messing up everything. Or water physics destroying the function of traps and stuff. Insane amounts of exp orbs dropping on death, producing horrible lags on multiplayer server.

I wonder if we can expect some sort of compatibility, starting from the official release? I really like the new additions, but Minecraft is no quick game, it needs time to build up stuff, and recently it looked like with every new update every few weeks, you better created a new world...

When I see basic things like water physics and landscape creation changing in such a big way, it remembers me rather of some alpha version than beta, not speaking of a final release.

posted a message on Creepers were buffed to much
    lots of player boosts:
    - criticals while jumping
    - weapon enchantment
    - armor enchantment
    - potions
    - can block

so i guess it's fine when some mobs do more damage and have more hitpoints.

not bothering playing this game anymore until the official release. too many huge changes in every version lately.

i hope though the final won't look like a swiss cheese so extremely anymore. digging became useless.

    Quote from evileeyore

Yup. My thoughts exactly. Can't go more than 20 tiles in any direction without finding yet another cave/ravine/shaft to hell.

lol that's exactly what I was up to write in the forum here.. the whole map is now like a swiss cheese, can't find a mountain that has no huge holes inside, not mentioning the underground...

I hope Notch will adjust that part of terrain generation again as it's WAY too excessive, for my taste, and not looking natural anymore, which I liked so much in this game.
