it's not like the pre-releases are mandatory updates.
three things aside from that:
- the pre-releases are helping them pump out the official, and probably more importantly, a cleaner, release faster. their reason was so that they would have a bigger pool of people telling them the bugs. the sooner they find it, the sooner they fix it.
- they could have released the official version and keep updating it, forcing bukkit to have large hiccups in their updates just like now.
- whether or not they did pre-releases, the official release date would have been a minimum of what was mentioned, Minecon.
you've offered no valid points so far. so what i'm going to do is consider this thread a plea for people to correct your thoughts on the update. come back next time.
How old are you?:not relevant. but im old enough to know that griefing is for children. Whats your in game name?:banra Why would you like to join the server?:i dont know. no reason really. i just think it'd be cool to get to know other people. i have my own server with a small group of people. What other servers have you played on?:my own, and spent less than a couple hours total on others as well. When did you start playing minecraft?:1.4 or 1.5. yeah still a nub. What do you like to do/what are you good at in minecraft?:i'm good at building. nothing too huge, as i'm usually on my own. but i go into lots of detail when i do.
Minecraft Username:banra

Have you ever been banned for griefing?: no, that is for children
Are you on MCBans? If so, explain: no idea what that is.
i just wanna see how things look, what the builds are like. and see if i can contribute.
stop picking on OP, everyone. we all have our propensities to complain and have everything just PERFECT without having to move a few files into the minecraft directory. who the hell would want to click a few times?
seriously, if you really felt strong feelings toward the game, you would have better arguments. you just want something to complain about.
Is anyone else having difficulty connecting to the 1.8 vanilla? I've been trying to get on for days. Still isn't working. Might just be getting on at the wrong times, I guess.
hmm. i and a few others got in fine. ano mentioned the port :7070.
i find it amusing when people have the propensity to blurt out what kind of hardware they run. if you're not having any problems running minecraft, no one actually cares what you run (unless you run minecraft off of some NASA grade computers). OP is the one with the problem... i personally am not having any issues running minecraft, other than the seemingly small problem of my cpu fan running and higher than normal speeds. so it's pretty apparent especially in mine and OP's case that 1.8 takes up a lot more resources.
but yeah, my friend's laptop has trouble running minecraft (since he got it) but his laptop doesn't have an integrated GPU. it's actually a fairly beast computer as he runs WoW on full settings with no problems.
I feel like It should be changing from decreasing damages to actually damage your sword,
so then when you get attack a lot you might lose your sword, then you get attack blablabla... etc.
That's probably one of the best suggestions I've heard. I mean... maintaining health is hard enough with the hunger and poison and only 9+ hunger allows for health regen over time by half a heart.

so it's not always a hardware problem.
