posted a message on Server not starting??
I didn't have this problem with the 1.7.10.exe, but I picked up the 1.8.1.exe because there were some major bug changes and fixes, but I can't run the server at all for some reason. I'll double click the .exe, and the window will flicker then disappear, and none of the files that are supposed to generate in the server folder will generate (except for eula, logs and server.properties, the latter of which has nothing in it). What am I supposed to do??

posted a message on World Textures Disappearing?
Hello, I've re-downloaded Minecraft this evening, while also buying the game for my friend. She's been able to set up the game, and download both 1.8 and 1.7.10 without having any problems whatsoever. We're both playing on my port-forwarded server.

Before she even started playing though, I tried out the game myself and noticed that if I ever held anything in my hand (such as breaking a block and grabbing it), my textures would suddenly glitch and then disappear, so that all I could see was the ocean, lava, and mobs.

Alternatively, when I load up 1.8, I only get black textures no matter how long I sit there.

My drivers are up-to-date, as is my Java. And like I said, the game plays normally until I hold an item in my hand, and no matter how many times I exit the game and log back in, the world will load up then disappear. I have to manually delete my .minecraft folder from %appdata% and re-download the files again.

    Any fixes?

posted a message on I randomly found 3 Eye of Enders on the ground. What does this mean?
My friends and I are playing on a SMP world, and there's only three of us playing. No one has used creative mode, and no one has been to this area of the map where the Eye of Enders were found. We searched below, but haven't found a stronghold yet.

Is it natural for these things to just be randomly sitting on the ground...? And this world has been up for several days, so shouldn't they have disappeared? I'm just confused.

So whenever I start up my server, I can log on and actually make the shelf, but when I try to click it to put it in my inventory, I get Connection Lost: End of Stream. Am I just not putting files in the right place or something?

did you download the latest .exe?

The latest .exe or the latest .jar? I'll go try the .exe file, but I didn't think that would change anything. OOPS;;;I got it to work! Thank you guys so much. :biggrin.gif:

So wait, are you saying I don't need the minecraft_server.jar file inside my server folder? Because when I delete it, I still get an Outdated Server error.

So I'm still pretty new to the whole Minecraft update process. I know how to force updates, replace old .jar files to go to a previous update and so on. But how do I update the server I'm hosting? I figured if I just redownloaded the .jar file from the minecraft.net/download page it would work, but it hasn't. Could someone tell me how to update it, please?

There's still a Hamachi problem. Another friend of mine can't connect via hamachi either. I know I can't be the only one having this problem. Any help?

    Okay, a small update.

I was able to make a Hamachi server, but now my friend can't join me. He's getting the same java error when his java is fully updated (note: he has windows vista 32-bit). It's the java.lang.nullpointerexception

I've seen this error all over, but does no one know how to fix it?

    Okay, here's the deal.

I created a server via port forwarding back in late October. The server ran fine with no problems whatsoever.

In late December, I moved the folder I created for my server files (Minecraft Server folder) from the desktop into another folder specifically for Minecraft things (New Year's cleaning and whatnot).

The server didn't work anymore. I originally got an error message saying java.lang.nullpointerexception and an error log file inside of my server folder. It was a .txt file.

The error was originally just a java problem, but after saving my world folder (to save the map) and deleting the old Minecraft Server folder, I started anew. This time, however, the error message I got said connection refused: connect, and other variations of it.

The tut I followed was OptimumForge's on youtube, and it's the one I followed originally. A bit off-topic, but I had to restore my computer to factory settings today so everything is brand spanking new inside here. When I visited the setup page via browser for my router (which is a Belkin btw) the Minecraft port forwarding settings were still there, obviously.

But is that why my game is refusing to connect, even when I have a brand new .minecraft folder as well?

Both the %appdata%/roaming/.minecraft and Minecraft Server folders are new and with a clean slate, yet I can't seem to connect to my server even after port forwarding, turning off public firewall, and doing direct connect in Multiplayer.

I've searched all over the web and haven't found a single answer to my problem, since there is seemingly NOTHING wrong with my setup. Does anyone else know what I might be doing wrong?
