I'm trying to figure out how to create a new AI engine to experiment with a genetic algorithm to develop an AI. I realize the thing will have to run for quite some time, but that is not an issue. Right now, I can say I've reverse enineered enough of the code to know that the following file http://pastebin.com/02H1C4E7 has the bulk of the passive mob AI. While I can continue to reverse engineer this, I'd much rather not and focus on doing cool experiments. Would anyone be able to direct me to any helpful resources or offer advice?
I don't know if this would be workable right now, but I would like to implement an adaptive AI for villagers in minecraft. Looking at the decompiled code, it is rather hard to track interaction between classes. Right now, this is purely for academic purposes, but could bear some interesting results. Could I get some documentation or direction for this project?

Note: I have already read the following:
http://www.wuppy29.com/minecraft/modding-tutorials/modding-1-4-7-basic-mob-part-3-ai/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1105939-123-advanced-mob-tutorials-adding-ai-behaviors-to-mobs-and-adding-spawner-eggs/
These are woefully inadiquite for what I want to do.
