Ok thanks for looking into it...

Oh yea just remembered there's paintings on the game... What if you used the same mechanic but used a command to retrieve the image on the map and create a temporary file to replace the standard painting images... Almost like changing the texture of the painting but in game.

you could also use screenshots to your advantage and have the normal images be replaced once with your last screenshot... You could also use this to take "pictures" of your standard world and hang them around too. This way instead of trying to make the game find and create the image itself you could have the code find the image in a predetermine folder where all of your screenshots are taken...

Not sure how possible this is as I'm just learning to code... Hope you figure something out.

With Notch's plan to add maps I think it would be a good idea if we could mount them on a wall to act as both decoration, and a sort of master map. Or using the same mechanics as a dispenser give each wall piece the ability to give out maps. This will help out a lot in SMP and will prevent you from losing all of your map progress as long as you frequently update the maps on the wall. By giving you the ability to mount them you can also view many maps much easier than if you had to individually look at each one.

If you don't want to read it basically said

Wall mountable maps that can dispense a new copy.

    Crafting Idea for mounting them
    [] :|: []
    :DBlock: [] :DBlock:
    [] :chestfront: []

    Where :|: = stick
    :DBlock: = string
    :chestfront: = map

People could then arrange these mountable maps ( that take up a full block size - no space on either edge) to create their world.

Hey, I'm trying to set up a server so I can play with one or two of my friends, but I keep encountering an error...two actually.
    1. When i try to open "minecraft-server", I get the message, "Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from blahblahblah"

2.When I try to run "start server", cmd prompt opens up and says "'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file. (next line) press any key to continue."

    Am I doing something wrong?

:Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: 's to whoever helps me :wink.gif:

The same thing happened to me. You need to download the latest java, and then set it as a path. Look on the mine craft wiki and search server setup or something like that. It'll show you what to do.
