Nah, just found a mod that combines beta and modern Minecraft, it's called Modern Beta

Well maybe it would be pertinent to say that next time in the original post instead of cryptic idiom + dots.
    Cool.

posted a message on Add the ability to claim beds.

When bringing a villager to your base, more likely than not, the first thing the villager is going to do is claim your bed. The only way to get around this is by breaking your bed, then placing the villager's bed down, waiting until they claim it, and then putting down your bed again. However, villagers count your bed when making babies, so it's likely that your bed will be claimed by a little villager.

A way to prevent this would be to add the ability to claim beds.

You claim a bed by shift right-clicking. When a bed gets claimed, it shows the green sparkle particle effect and shows the message, "You have claimed this bed." Villagers can't claim a bed already claimed by a player. You can only have one bed claimed at a time, and whatever bed you claimed before will be unclaimed.

I think that this would be a good addition to the game and would be a worthwile quality of life feature. I hope you agree with me, and thank you for reading.

This would lead to village home beds being occupied indefinitely by players, when the villagers obviously own the village. So I'm going to say that villagers should also be able to claim beds.

Some posited that the membrane should be used to not only repair the elytra, but also used to craft it.

It is difficult to go about this one without making it a broken feature

but then making the elytra a non renewable item wasn't a smart move either, there are some multiplayer servers where the elytra would be almost impossible to obtain, because of all the closest end cities being raided by players who got to them early, this gives those players too much of an advantage over those who had just recently joined. One of the reasons why I am against non renewables in most cases, another being, it's possible for a glitch or an error to completely erase part or even an entire inventory or ender chest of valuables, although uncommon, it can and does happen.

But making the elytra craftable early game isn't a good solution either, players should still be required to go to the End to obtain an item of some sort in order to craft them. While this doesn't solve the early game use problem of membranes, it does add another use for them.

    Guess what?

Why don't we just have it so that the fletching table creates copies of elytra, given a base elytra to model with, and some phantom membrane?

Could do the same with saddles, and for smithing tables with horse armour and CDs.

But it won't happen, because it'd still be too easy.

posted a message on [OPINION] Why I think that 1.20 should be the final version of Minecraft.

If you want to blend shooter and horror, try Doom 3. The FPS genre isn't typically one of my favorites, but I did like Doom 3 way back when for its tension and atmosphere. Funny enough it's sort of the Black sheep in that series.

I haven't even beaten the original DOOM, so I'll have to wait- I'd rather play the games in order, but thank you for the recommend, I'll see to getting to it sometime. Too much to keep up on now lol

What is this, you loaded a 1.14 world in Alpha 0.8? You applied a 0.8 texture to 1.14 and then edited the F3 or edited the screenshot?
What are you trying to say with this enigmatic sentence?

    Quote from Agtrigormortis»

And balancing the game with modifications to mob behaviour is hard for Mojang because on the one hand people don't want survival being too easy, on the other hand, if mobs are given too much destructive griefing power, they would raise the ire of people who like to collect resources for building, but still have hostile mobs spawn for various reasons, perhaps because some hostile mobs have exclusive loot that cannot be legitimately earned in peaceful. And without Endermen, ender pearls are no longer farmable except from Villager trades which are also not immune to nerfs.

The only solution here is to introduce a different tier of survival mode that enables hostile and neutral mobs to simulate a griefing player, and add more customizations to worlds so that players can better tailor the experience to individual desires, without gamerule commands, bringing back custom worlds would also be helpful, adding in the ability to turn mob spawners on or off, changing the enchantment system on world creation etc, with a system like this mods will no longer be necessary for some people to play the game how they wished with their friends or on their own.

But as far as Endermen go, they're fine as they are, minus the glitches with them in bedrock edition that haven't yet been patched, as you say it does take a long time for Endermen to cause issues and there are ways to stop them from removing blocks by checking cave systems to light them, as well as making sure player base territory is thoroughly lit above 7, failing that, use of bottom half slabs, trapdoors, farmland, dirtpath or transparent blocks is advised.

I think it would be nice to have a 'legitimacy' or 'toughness' scale to every world. Make creepers unable to explode, it goes down. Allow them, it goes up. That way a lazy player can have a world where sheep can graze but villagers can't farm and so on.

Basically, every parameter is individually determining the 'difficulty ranking' of the world, for people to judge each other against.

    Quote from Agtrigormortis»

Plus without the glitches with them in Bedrock edition, Endermen would only attack players for looking directly at them or hitting them, if a player ends up dying because of that, that is their problem. Plus 2 block high holes can be used to evade them entirely, Zombified Piglin back when they were called Pigmen Zombies, they were way worse imo, while they were a neutral mob too, if a player hits them even by accident, there is nowhere to hide unless you used a solid block or iron door, on hard difficulty they can bust down wooden doors just as regular Zombies can.

In addition to that, Baby Pigmen Zombies were fast as well as being armed with a sword dealing high amount of damage.

Due to the Nether update which revamped the Nether biome generation system, you won't find Zombified Piglin everywhere, only in Nether wastes and Crimson Forests I believe. otherwise they'd be found in the Overworld if they or any type of Piglin come through Nether portal.

Even with the quirkiness with them aggroing players for using their own chests, because Piglin don't really care if it's your chest or theirs you are opening, Piglin aren't half as annoying as they once were, Piglin in Pigmen Zombie form would routinely get in your way while you were mining blocks in the Nether and it made no difference where you were either, because we didn't even have Crimson Forests back then, all of it was Nether wastes, containing the only structure being the fortresses in some. 1.16 did bring some good things to the table for us though, the Bastions are worth raiding, if you take your time you can get past the Piglin and their brutes easily, if there is lava at the bottom, disable the Magma Cube spawner and bridge the lava, problem solved.

Portals can still spawn zombie piglin on the overworld side. This has happened to me semi-frequently on one of my servers where we were in peaceful mode, I dumped a portal on my roof, and then the server self-swapped to normal and I kept finding piglin up there chilling out every session.

As for endermen being easy to deal with, yeah, if you expect them and have time to catch up to one before you lose sight of them. It's easy to make a small 2-high shelter to fight them with, so long as it's not made of a block they can grab away and use to get to you. I make my builds, temporary or permanent, out of cobble and deepslatecobble for this exact reason.

In a pure "does it add to difficulty" sense, sure it's not a big deal, but that's not merely what Minecraft is. Being a sandbox game though, it becomes broader than just that.

To me, this behavior notably becomes an issue if you stay in areas for long times. They "moth up" the landscape unless you always sleep (and even then this doesn't stop it underground or in other areas where they can spawn when you're around). I don't see how alerting me of their presence is a positive when you only see it after the fact. What good does knowing one WAS there once upon a time do for you? Nothing, really. It merely stands out as an ever worsening eye sore once it accumulates.

This particular thing is something I see as a major design flaw on the mob side of things. I don't think any other mob has a behavior that bothers me so badly that I want to use data packs to change it (I even disabled mob griefing entirely beforehand to avoid it, even though that also lost me damage by creeper, ghast, and wither explosions, which I did not like, but it shows how much I disliked the enderman being able to do this). The only other honorable mention of a mob I would explore using data packs to change is the warden (and accompanying related things, like sculk stuff), but that's because I want to explore making it do MORE (and be harder) rather than disabling something it does now. I see the warden as having more potential for my own tastes, but not flawed in a broad sense as it is now. So I'm fine with behaviors with all other mobs as it is, even if some could stand to be improved. The exception to that is the enderman ability to move blocks. I see it as a pretty substantial design flaw.

Also you're missing out on the goats then. Lovely little things.

I agree that endermen make severe messes of places, but it takes a while for them to do so and I've never noticed it being that bad personally. Unfortunately Mojang has yet to split up the mob griefing behaviours up, maybe because it would be too easy to pick and choose.

I have only seen goats a couple times and I'm aware they can ram you off cliffs if angered. I don't know what angers them, plus mountains already mean frosted snow (ugh), snow hiding lava (UGH), and huge falls (AHHH). So I'm not tempted much to go explore them for coal or emerald or whatever. I can get by without.
