I am running 1.6.4, I have also been having this problem on both of my computers... so it's not the computer.

For some reason I keep on getting a "Failed to login: Bad Login" error a lot. I have changed my password multiple times to fix this, but am fed up with constantly changing my password to fix it. How can I fix this long term?

It depends on what OS you have.

    Windows 7 Instructions:

    1. Click the start menu.
    2. Click on the search bar on the bottom of the start menu.
    3. Type in "%appdata%" then hit enter. You should be in a folder called 'Roaming'.
    4. You will see a folder called '.minecraft' you want to delete that folder.
(Please note that if you have any mods installed you will have to re-install them also with any worlds that are saved in Minecraft will also be deleted to save those go inside of '.minecraft' then go into a folder called 'saves' and you will find your world saves.)

    5. After you have saved your worlds and deleted the '.minecraft' folder launch 'Minecraft.exe' wherever you have it saved to. (It doesn't matter where it is saved to.)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Windows 8/8.1 Instructions:

    1. Click the start button on the bottom left corner. (Or hover over it if you have Windows 8)
    2. There should be a down arrow on the bottom under neath all of the 'tiles' click it.
    3. After clicking it search "File Explorer" then after it launches locate your hard drive where Minecraft is installed on.
    4. After you have found which hard drive Minecraft is on mine. For example mine is on 'C:\'
    5. Click a folder called 'Users' open the folder of the current user you are on right now.
    6. Then you want to click 'Properties' on the top of the files explorer.
    7. You want to open 'AppData', then open up 'Roaming'

Sorry I don't have a Mac so if you have one I can't give you instructions on how to delete it.

Just checked that. Even with my firewall off its still doing the same thing. And my antivirus' web blocker is off. That's what I try to do. I type the IP address in and check to make sure that its correct. When I hit enter it pops up on the list, but it will keep saying 'pinging' and do nothing else. Even when I use direct connect, it will keep saying 'logging in' and nothing else. I'm at a lost.

Well I don't really know what to tell you, sorry. I guess you can try making sure your Java versions are up to date. Which can be updated here.

Be unique... don't go and make another faction server. Make a server that has never been done before! Make then want to come back online to your server.

You have to add the server IP and/or port manually to connect to servers that are not on your local connection.

You log in with your email address if you purchased Minecraft after November 2012, or migrated your username to a Mojang account.

I think that is will be in the US, Europe or Canada. Just my opinions. I don't think it will be in Australia because the majority of the Minecraft player base lives in the Us, Europe and Canada.
