    IC2 has many bugs in the 1.3.2 version 1.106. Mod authors try their hardest to put out only their best work, but they cant always do that in a timely fashion. I am freaking out waiting for mods (ie redpower2) to update, but patience is important. Pass the time looking for other mod updates, testing other mods, or even looking for progress reports on how development is coming. It will come, it just takes time. I would expect a release soon for most mods if the authors plan on updating to 1.3.2, otherwise the authors may just wait until 1.4, which is just around the corner.


    In other words, tomorrow. Just finished porting to the mod to 1.4, on to more bugfixes!

    My work is done for now, waiting on the rest of the gang to finish coding entity synchronization between server and client.

    Current bugs:

    *MGs are so bugged it's scary. Possibly will not see them in 1.4 update.
    *Planes and vehicles don't synchronize location with server. In other words, when flying a plane, it will revert back to it's original location after 10 seconds of flying.
    *Can't interact with plane or vehicle inventory when in air.

    That's it! We're getting so close to a release I can almost...uh -- fly it :)

    I just got an email from him yesterday requesting more help with updating to Forge v4. Also, regarding Modern Warfare, I'm already working with a few people on porting. Expect updates soon!

    1.4 only means MCP update, and MCP update only means a few method name changes. I doubt 1.4 is going to have such a drastic effect as 1.3 did, merging the client and server basically screwed every mod out there.

    As a FlansMod dev, I can confirm we're nearly finished with teams.

    AbrarSyed is currently working on key controls and their synchronization. He just finished gun boxes and planes.

    I'm working on implementing IC2 and BC support. Also working to integrate Calclavia's ICBM so that his missiles can shoot down planes.

    We also have Flan, who has been helping us with Teams.

    I expect there to be a stable release in the next 4 weeks, but don't hold me down if this doesn't happen.

    Needs some other type of ore for tools, some unique fuel that is better than coal, maybe some more magic items, more bows, maybe for materials already there? More types of tools and weapons (because my favorite part of the mod is a Paxel :D ) A greatsword that deals damage but is slow would be cool, could be made by putting two swords together, with some of it's material, and extra sticks. This is one of my favorite mods! keep up the work :D

    What is metadata?
    Metadata is basically a half-byte (4 bits) of data that is saved and loaded in blocks. A block's metadata can be between -16 and 15, and most blocks don't need that much information in the first place. Snow uses metadata for height, torches and furnaces use metadata for direction, wool and wood use metadata for color. Metadata can also be used to compress multiple block IDs into one, but that gets complicated. Items DO have their own form of metadata, but it's referred to as 'item damage' in the Minecraft source code. You use item damage all the time -- when you break a block with a pickaxe the item's damage is set exactly 1 integer higher.

    What if a block uses more than 4 bits of information?
    The Furnace is a good example of this. When you need more than 4 bits of data to store your block's information, you can use something called a Tile Entity. A Tile Entity is basically a bunch of code that runs alongside the block. The Furnace stores information such as how many ticks have passed since the current item started burning, and how many ticks until the Furnace runs out of fuel. Tile Entities can even be used to save and load a block's facing. However, unlike metadata, information in a Tile Entity is not saved/loaded on game startup automatically. You need to manually set the information your Tile Entity loads or saves. This data is then saved in NBT format, which is basically the stuff you see in your world/region/ folder. Complicated!

    How exactly does metadata work?
    Metadata is simply, as stated before, 4 bits of information.

    So, if the metadata is 0, that looks like this to a computer: 0000
    If the metadata is 1, that looks like this: 0001
    If it's 2, it looks like this: 0010
    3: 0011
    4: 0100
    5: 0101
    6: 0110
    7: 0111
    8: 1000
    9: 1001
    10: 1010
    11: 1011
    12: 1100
    13: 1101
    14: 1110
    15: 1111
    ...and so on.
    As you can see, once there are all ones, you're screwed. You've reached the maximum value of metadata, so you either need to compress your code OR use a Tile Entity, which theoretically could handle an infinite amount of data. Simple, really.
