1. Open Minecraft and navigate to “Options” then “Resource Packs”.
2. Click “Open resource pack folder”.
3. Download the version of the pack for the version of Minecraft you’re playing and place the zip in your resourcepacks folder.
4. Go back to Minecraft (you might need to exit the resourcepacks screen and re-open it).
5. Click the pack to enable it.

The Aether, it's a great mod, and I have never found anyone who can deny falling in love with it while playing it. It is O.K. if you like the Aether mod better than this mod, and that is completely understandable. The Aether mod is bigger, more complete, and has been designed with professional textures that pull you right in. There is just one problem, the Aether fans do not seem to know what "helpful criticism" is. They seem to only know what "ranting" and "insulting" are. If you truly do not like the mod, that is fine. This mod is made for fun in the spare time of a Minecraft-and-Programming-loving 14-year old boy. If you do like the mod, then that is wonderful! It brings great joy when someone says "great" or "awesome mod" on the post. If you don't like the mod, then you can always post ideas and helpful criticism to enhance the mod.


Thank you for reading this, and I hope you consider what is written before posting. Thank you to all who have given ideas toward the mod!

This is a dimension-adding API that works on both the client and server. It is simple and straightforward for modders to use, while at the same time it maximizes the possible customizations they can make to their dimensions with a comprehensive library of hooks and features. The following are some of the features which modders may utilize by adopting this API:

-- Custom portal blocks and items for your dimension; you may create as many as you wish until you run into block ID limits. You can also easily use other methods (such as entity interaction) to trigger teleportation.
-- For your portal(s), you may define:
- a custom Teleporter
- a custom entering/leaving message
- a custom achievement to be triggered upon entering the dimension
- whether the portal acts immediately or after a delay (as well as the length of the delay)
- whether it displays the Nether portal animation
- in which dimensions it can be used
- to which dimension it returns the player
- whether it can be used for fast/slow travel (and by what factor)
- a custom portal texture, and a custom overlay when about to teleport

-- It also adds various hooks related to sky rendering, biomes, and other features, which you may use in your WorldProvider file.
-- In your WorldProvider, you may define:
- a set of biomes to be generated; a biome may generate normally or as a sub-biome of a larger biome, like an ocean, like a river, on the border between two biomes, or after all the other biomes have generated
- a custom edition of RenderGlobal.java, as well as:

- additional objects to be rendered in the sky

Dimension API no longer requires any other mods to be downloaded before it can run. Make sure to install this mod AFTER ModLoader or ModLoaderMP. Also, please only use the alternate download if the regular one does not work for you.

Mod Review (The Real One)

Okay so I played in Caelum for quite a while and here are my thoughts. Like before, my previous thoughts on the environment stand; the landscapes are really empty. I believe aesthetics will go a long way in setting your mod apart from others, especially since many people think this is just another Aether (which I disagree).

Initial Reaction:
I enter Caelum and quickly find myself aestus. I found myself in a valley filled with large veins of aestus, which is not necessarily bad; fuel is good. However, by the time I finished mining after 2 minutes, I already had over 45 aestus on me, and I had only just entered the world. I suggest reducing the size of the veins so that it motivates us to mine more and more. When too much of any resource is given to us, we lose any incentive to mine for resources, which is a vital aspect of the minecraft game.

Aulephants:
After acquiring aestus, I found a large group of Aulephants ahead, made myself an austone sword and hacked away. I collected all the loot, and was surprised to find that I had looted about 20 jade shards, 2 jade rings, and alot of austone bricks. I think this goes back to the aestus problem; the resources are way too easily accessible. Already within the first 5 minutes of the game, I had amassed all this aestus, jade shards, and other materials. I feel like I had already acquired in good number half of the new materials in your mod. The best thing to do is create the best balance you can; I know that right now, the mod is not extremely large where there are large amounts of new content and material, so in this case, I suggest that you make things a little rarer and scarce. This will expand the time it takes for the players to enjoy discovering your dimension.

The other thought I had was why Aulephants dropped jade shards and austone bricks. I think that if any mob is to drop something, it would be loot that the mob would possibly hold. For example, skeletons drop bones because they are skeletons, and they drop arrows because they have bows and arrows. If you kill a chicken, it will drop feathers and meat. But I don't understand why the Aulephant drops jade shards or austone bricks. It would be interesting if they dropped Aulephant Skin, or Aulephant Meat, or maybe even Aulephant Trunk. They could be used for food, or to make certain items and armors. Since Aulephants drop jade shards, I feel no need to mine jade or heat them in the furnace. Perhaps some Aulephants have tusks that when killed can drop Aulephant Tusks, used to make Aubone or Aebone weapons and tools.

Mobs:
At night I am constantly under attack from jade spiders. I think some variety of hostile mobs throughout the land would create some diversity. Caelum is a sky dimension, so what kind of creatures might possibly live up there? Perhaps certain trees are home to hostile nocturnal birds called Windbreakers or Airslashers that peck you. When you kill them, they may drop an Aerofeather, a special addon that makes your jumps slightly higher and reduces fall damage for 10 uses. Or perhaps there are these small beetles called Baetols or Baetles that rarely drop Baetle Thorax, which when cooked can be eaten. They may also drop Baetle Blood which can be a craftable item. Perhaps there are these rare large Queen Spiders that drop Jade Silk, or Jade String. These items could be used to craft a powerful bow, or craft a durable armor.

More on Mobs:
Perhaps there are these eagle-like mobs that cannot fly. A name for them could be the Aegol or Aegle. They run really fast, and can fight back if you provoke them. They drop eggs, feathers, and perhaps a rare item. I think Caelum could use small harmless birds that fly around; after all, this is a skyland filled with giant trees. It definitely could use birds and other inhabitants. Maybe there could be rocky creatures called Aegeos sort of like the pokemon Geodude(only not angry) that inhabits the more stoney areas of the land. You already have the ignis, which is this strange animated object that shoots fire, so rocky creatures would fit.

Addons:
What would be interesting is if addons were craftable and rarely obtainable. (Read more on Dungeons and Pyramids). Addons are another item that are too common.

Dungeons and Pyramids:
I tested out some of the dungeons and pyramids and was disappointed. Yes, it was fun fighting the ignis and the spiders, but there are sooooo many chests filled with loot. I can just grab them and dash and be fine. Again, I feel like everything is laid out for me, nothing is truly presenting a challenge. There's little sense of crafting, except when crafting tools, weapons, and armors. I think that each dungeon should only have 1 chest with 1-3 loot items. Right now, I can find a lot of jade shards, jade tools, addons, and weapons in these dungeons. Instead, the chests should have craftable items and rarely a good weapon. Perhaps the dungeons and pyramids should have items that can only be found in the dungeons and pyramids, but no where else. The moonstone tools already do this, but I found the sword, the shovel, and axe in one dungeon alone! Perhaps a dungeon should only rarely have one of the tools. A really rare add-on could also be found there, or craftable pieces that can craft an add-on. I felt like I already beat 75% of the mod going through one dungeon. :[

The architecture of the dungeons and pyramids could use some more integration to the environment. Right now, they feel plastered onto the surface or the sides of islands. They don't seem to belong in the world. Perhaps vines could be growing on the sides, or the dungeons could be ruinous. Who built these structures? Why? Where did these builders go? Perhaps these questions could fuel some story or plot quests and give a little flair to Caelum.

Biomes:
I feel like Caelum could really benefit from biomes. There could be mountainous sky islands, or giant waterfalls that fall down to the overworld. There could be small clusters of islands that are connected by fallen tree logs and vines (Pandora from Avatar movie for example). Or maybe there could be desert skylands.

Textures:
I think the grass should not be so blue-greenish. It appears very Aether-like which is probably why many people say it's "another Aether". I think the grass would look cooler if it were more yellow-green or darker green like this. The red ignis bricks are a little too saturated I think; it seems really out of place. Perhaps it's really red so that one can see it from afar, but that gives it away. Let the player explore and discover on their own. Perhaps a color like this would be more suitable instead of this.

Mod Bug:
I am able to explore and play in Caelum. When I exit Minecraft and reopen Minecraft, I cannot for some reason play on my save. I believe the save becomes corrupted. Once I click play, the loading screen appears with no text, and eventually turns to black. The only way I can play your mod again is to make a new world and not exit from Minecraft.

Overall:
I think overall it's all a matter of balance. Right now, items and tools in Caelum are in excess-there are too many items of everything and it's too easy to find these items. The environment needs more diversity, from aesthetic plants and trees, biomes, to new mobs. Dungeons need not so many chests. And overall, there needs to be more crafting involved. Anyways, I hope this review and critique helps and I can't wait to see how this further develops!
