posted a message on Searching for current Steve skin.
Hey everyone. Going about making a skin for myself relevant to the current Steve, and I realized it has changed. The current Steve appears to be wearing a shirt with some lacing in the front and some other minor changes. Could someone find and present this skin to me? This would be much appreciated.

If you haven't seen the skin I'm describing, disconnect from the Internet and check it out offline in singleplayer.

If this skin is in the .minecraft files, direction on finding it would be appreciated, but an actual PNG image I can save directly would be best.

I continue to see use of a lot of extra wood when mining. I definitely need to get into this habit, it seems to be a necessary one. I usually just bring along what I feel is needed; however, as some may have noticed, I can get sidetracked fairly easily, causing me to run out of materials. Thanks again for the replies, everyone. I hope newbies take a look at this to try and avoid incidents like these altogether.

Also, I apologize. I did not mean to waste your time. However, it was your choice to decide to read this, and I seem to have kept you entertained enough to read it all.

posted a message on Excellent Singleplayer Survival world, simple seed. (1.2)
Hey everyone looking for a sweet seed. After 1.2 came around, I decided I needed an awesome world. I started typing in elemental words, i.e. "fire", "water", "air", and eventually got to "earth". "earth" granted nothing special, so I tried a synonym, "dirt". dirt is the best seed I have ever had.

To begin, make a test world, named "test" or something, and go into Creative Mode. Go to your advanced world options, and in the seed area, type "dirt" with no quotes. Just "dirt". You'll spawn in a forest biome. Get up and out and look for an open grasslands area near the forest. You should spot an NPC village. The NPC village is at x=187.9, y=70.6, and z=356.6.

Crafting a map at the NPC village and fully exploring it will reveal that the forest/grassland spawn area is a peninsula, cut off on 3 sides from other areas by an extensive river system. At the top mid-left of the map is a desert biome. At top left is a jungle biome. Top center has grasslands, top mid-right has a snow biome. Top and far mid-right of the map has another jungle. Mid far-right of the map has another snow biome. The bottom left corner of the map has another snow biome. Between this snow biome and the main grassland/forest peninsula is a forest/marsh area.

This map is heavily populated by wolves, cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep. The NPC village is a small one, with a church and 3 or so houses with a well, but can be expanded upon. There is plentiful water from the river system that spans the whole area around the spawn. Underneath the NPC village is a cave system that is enormous; I got lost in it yesterday and had to panic-dig out. However, this system holds a few diamonds, not plentiful, a lot of redstone, some lapis, quite a bit of gold, and a ton of iron. I collected over 2.5 stacks on a recent mining/spelunking trip, of pure iron ore.

Remember, the seed is "dirt", no quotes. You probably want to explore in Creative first to get a feel for where the NPC village and all the other biomes are. Thanks for reading, enjoy this epic seed.

posted a message on What new Mob Would you like to see?
The only mob we have needed since Minecraft began; horses. We need horses, and need to be able to craft saddles (horse saddles; we can keep the old saddles for pigs, pig saddles).

posted a message on What have you done recently?
Got lost in a massive cave system yesterday. I found 2.5 stacks of iron ore, 20 gold ore, 8 diamonds, and had to punch my way through 10 or so layers to save myself after my pick broke while panic-digging. Scariest experience on MC I've ever had.

So, I made an enchantment table, finished my house, expanded the NPC village I live by, and made an Iron Golem to protect my NPC buddies.

My seed is "dirt", no quotes. Best seed I have found so far. Spawn near a small NPC village in a forest/grassland, surrounded by a river system, 3 arctic biomes, 2 jungles, 1 swamp, 1 desert, all within a 1064x1064 block (i.e. a map starting at the NPC village shows all of these biomes).

Thanks to everyone that left a comment! I'm glad my adventure/nightmare entertained you. I will definitely be taking a lot of emergency materials (like wood) when I go mining and spelunking now. Also, the idea of placing foreign blocks was a nice suggestion, I'll be using that.

Yeah, well an experience of mine isn't that great, but me and a kid from school had done so good in my server legit. We were in the Nether collecting Glowstone, I was using cobblestone blocks and the crouch technique so I wouldn't fall, I accidently pressed E and then bam, I lost my diamond pickaxe (enchanted) 40 iron ingots (20 gold ingots) torches, wheat porkchops and many more valuables. That was so sad.

Yikes, that would be pretty upsetting; and in the Nether, at that. Feels bad, man.

posted a message on Just had the scariest, most interesting, and one of the best experiences on Minecraft.
Hey everyone. Sit down, grab a comfy chair, some cookies, and a glass (or bucket) of milk. Kidding. Just wanted to share an experience with everyone. Before I begin, I have been playing Minecraft since 1.2, January of 2011. Don't be fooled, I purchased a new account because I felt a name change was needed. So, I have been playing Minecraft for, oh, a good while. And this was definitely, as the title states, the scariest, most interesting, and one of the best experiences I've ever had on here.

To begin my mini-adventure, I start at my world in Singleplayer. For 1.2 I found an excellent seed (just type in "dirt", all lowercase, go into creative mode, and take a look around. Small NPC village, all of the biomes within 1000 blocks of each other, tons of resources-and a massive cave system under the village) and built myself a nice home on a small hill overlooking said village, a day or two after 1.2 came. Since then I have been expanding the town (added 3 NPC houses, 1 smith, 1 tavern, plan for much more) and increasing my wealth. I have/had a personal farm, a mob-proof house, and a lot of iron, a bit of gold, and a jukebox to my name.

I made myself a nice little mine near my house. I planned to go to the beloved layer 13 in search of diamonds. I got down to layer 40, and found an underground well--nice! Continuing down, I eventually hit lava at layer 13. Dismayed, I branched out...and found a massive system of caves. Nothing new for Minecraft, I had been there before. This cave system branched out a nice ways, and I collected tons of iron from it, even some gold. I was happy--iron is my favorite ore(diamonds I only like for jukeboxes. :D). About a week ago, when about ready to create another mine, I noticed that the cave system had areas I couldn't reach. So, I started on some stairs.

Going up there led me to more caves. More pathways. And more riches. So many riches. I found lava, redstone, lapis lazuli, gold, and especially iron. I still wanted some diamonds, though. That brings us to today, an hour ago. I opened up Minecraft to find myself still underground, near some really nice waterfalls. I climbed up those waterfalls, this being about layer 20 or so at the tops of them. More caves. I spent about an hour spelunking with some iron pickaxes. Forty minutes ago, my last pickaxe was near breaking point and I had 30-some gold ore, 8 diamonds, and 2 entire stacks of iron ore. And so began my nightmare.

Now, normally, I love spelunking. I usually roll on peaceful because mobs are annoying, and so is hunger; I like to switch back to Hard on ground level so I can make some mobs eat flint. Anyways. I ended up running out of torches (went in with 32. Still not enough for how massive this cave system was), my pick was near death, and I had lots of valuables. Not a problem though, I figured I could make my way back out; I was nearly wrong. I ran around for 5 minutes, and ended up back where I started. I started to worry because I couldn't remember where I had entered the area I was in.

As I said, I ran out of torches, and I was at <level 20. I kept getting confused by lava spills that were everywhere, thinking they might be a torch. 15 minutes of searching and I was starting to panic. I has crossed lava pools, climbed up water, jump-stacked my way to higher caves, and still couldn't find my entry point. At this point in time I actually felt somewhat panicked--not even an onslaught of creepers had ever made me feel panicked in Minecraft. I always felt pretty confident in this game; punch trees, make shelter, make tools, get rich, be happy. Not then. I had NEVER had to panic my way out of a situation, ever.

And that's what I had to do. I dug for my life, straight up (like an idiot), nearly being crushed by gravel 2 times. My pick broke at level 50, so I punched through a few layers of stone until, finally, reaching the surface. I have an idea now what actual miners who get trapped in mines must feel like when returning to the surface again. I came up in a jungle biome--and my panic had not ended. I was free, but the jungle biome...to me, it honestly seems just like being underground. You have to dig your way to freedom a lot of the time and you can't see much at all.

Maps were added into Minecraft for a reason, one I found out tonight. I had made a map of my area and fully filled it in when I first made the world a week or two ago. On that map, there were two jungle biomes, three snow biomes, one desert, one swampland, one tundra, and my home, one grassland/forest, right in the center of it all and separated from the rest by a river that surrounded 3/4 of the peninsula. I remembered this, and climbed a tree (a nice part of jungles--tall trees and vines to climb them). I spotted a river nearby and sprinted like Usain Bolt back to my forest. I found my NPC village and returned home.

Total profit: 1/2 stack gold ingots, 2 1/2 stacks iron ingots, 8 diamonds, 1/2 stack coal (I usually avoid coal because it comes in huge amounts), and a saddle and two more buckets from a dungeon I found along the way.

A few lessons learned for me tonight, or a reinforcement of them. First, always bring as many torches as you can when exploring or even just mining, because coal and wood are easy to get, you really don't need to conserve torches because of their ease to obtain, and torches are some of the most valuable things in the dark. Second, just because the things meant to be scary in Minecraft, like the mobs, falling to your doom, burning alive, or the Nether, are not scary, that doesn't mean the rest of the game is a dandy experience. Finally, don't go spelunking too far or into too complex an area, even if diamonds are a possibility, unless you are as prepared as you possibly can be or you have a perfect memory.

I probably didn't tell the story good enough to make anyone reading this fearful for their sanity or profits, but honestly I just wanted to share this experience. If you read, thanks for reading, if not, that's fine too. Have a good night (or day), everyone.
