posted a message on "Minecraft is Dying" posts NEED TO STOP.

Minecraft is not dying, the huge hype of it has just slowed (one reason being everyone has heard about it, ask someone back in 2010 if they had heard of minecraft and I'd bet money they hadn't) and a lot of the spotlight has moved to yet another game (fortnite for example). Welcome to the world of gaming. These "big youtubers" are the same reason minecraft is stereotypically looked at as a childs game now because of their ginormous fan base of young teens and pre teens that prosperously brought in an insane amount of players from around 2013 to present. And watch, in 2-3 years fortnite will no longer be the "cool game" . Ask me how I know? Well I started playing when Minecraft classic (bet you've never heard of it) was being updated and was the newest version. I've seen the how the game has changed and grown and let me tell you its far from "dying"

posted a message on When did you start playing Minecraft? Which Version?

oh yes I am! Well sorta I haven't really played much since Notch left. All the old stone age communities I played with dried up. decent reliable (not going to shutdown) Private multiplayer servers were too difficult to find. It's like everything revolves around places like Hypixel or thehive i'm shocked, its not the mc community I remember. I type 'minecraft' into youtube and its nothing but these dumb music parodies of the characters and they all have millions of views. Sad.

Idk why it took me years to create a forum account I just never felt the need to reply to something...

still miss the New icton videos I remember those were really entertaining. Sucks minecraft is filled with a bunch of 8 year olds now. Community used to be really good and now its blah

Yeah I wouldnt consider random examples like "ilovecola' "ChristmasMan" to be any type of rare. especially if it has numbers. when I originally created this thread I meant things that people would really want or really desired. Sure there can be 1000s of names with the word "chris" in it but they are all of variations like "chris1234" "xchrisx1" etc. Things such as "Chris" or "Five" or "G" are the types of names I was implying were the rare names when making this. Sure technically every name is rare but if youre commenting saying "quartzwartz" is rare then youre missing the point of this thread. (No disrespect to anyone commenting just voicing what Ive noticed)

I remember making this thread a long time ago back before name changes. now many of these rare names were unseen now theyre everywhere... I really like the name checking websites because you can see past username history to find if the account is the original holder of the username. Heck I remember I had around 30 usernames registered to my email address back when you could play /login with multiple accounts under the same email and when the name change came i lost all those names.

you missed exactly what I just pointed out lol. None of those Id consider rare at all IMO

interesting story haha. I remember when I screenshotted the picture of that name I couldnt believe such a name exsisted but yet it did. and that was 4-6 yrs ago I screened that I cant remember when exactly but the point im getting to is that rare stuff like that was a lot more common at the time. Then the 2011-2012 account creation explosion happened where minecraft got really big and famous and those names dissapeared. Now with name changes original unchanged rare names are even harder to come by !

    I just saw '___' on Mineplex (that's 3 underscores).

It's funny because I remember infoing account names on the Fcraft classic server and seeing the player "____" listed on there.

I screened this about a year or two ago http://imgur.com/hOJg9rL

dont forget a lot of those cool names you see can easily just be nicknames if you cant tell the difference. If i were to guess many of the ones you guys listed were probably just ./. nick or something.

    My username is - 2x8

    i think thats pretty rare

thats funny because before when you could still register accounts without buying premium or using an email ( like you could play classic not prem) I had a username called "2_by_4" or something like that.

and yes to anyone saying every username is rare technically yes I know that you all say it every third post haha. I created this thread before name changes so it used to be a big deal now its whoevers changed their name usually...

I can't even tell you how old that is. I have a 2 letter account which I made before the 3 character limit. But ever since I had started playing it was always a 2 then 3 character limit. I looked "G" up on a name checker site and it is legit. So thats probably the first single letter name ive ever seen or heard of that was legit. He mustve created it back the first month of the game.

posted a message on Question about capes

This should answer a lot of your questions on capes:

    http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Cape

Basically the only capes that have been given out so far at winners of competitions, people who have helped improve parts of the game such as translators , and a few other random ways. But yeah check that link youll understand what I mean.

The player "G" was most likely just someone setting their display name on the server to G. Since I don't believe it was ever allowed to have 1 letter names. Just 2 at the minimum (then letter changed to 3 minimum around late 2011, early 2012). However there are some videos of usernames containing "." (periods) and other odd symbols in the very early stages of minecraft such as the earth video on youtube which is like 6 or 7 years old now.

mojang basically abandoned classic a few years ago. the game got so filled with bugs its unplayable..its a shame because it used to have a real thriving community before the bugs

As of now you need at least 3, and I have seen nowhere online that suggests it was anywhere below that, but I have seen the opposite. I couldn't name the site, (though I probably could find it again) but they stated that it started at 4 characters, but was lowered to 3.

EDIT: If you saw someone with a one letter username, they must be an old player. I just checked on the name changer to see if 1 letter (and 2 letter) names were available. You simply cannot change to something below 3 characters. It might have been different when Minecraft first came out, as I started in mid beta, but I'm not too sure.

That's what I was saying, I forgot to add that you cannot change to a 2 letter name but if you previously created an 2 letter account back when you still were aloud to then it got grandfathered in..I own one myself if thats enough proof I guess.

Actually up until I think late 2011 maybe even early 2012 you could still create a 2 character minecraft username, they're definetly a rarity to see but they're out there. However as for single character usernames I believe you were never allowed to create them but correct me if I'm wrong. I for one have never seen or heard of a 1 character name

Oh really.. I wonder if 111 was a change from something else. I forgot about the minecraft name change update and that a lot of these names being posted now are changed names and not originals... :( but still very cool to see them
