posted a message on OptiFine HD (FPS Boost, Dynamic Lights, Shaders and much more)

    Dear Great Optifine Creator,

I am the creator of the mod New Frontier Craft, a new adventure in old Minecraft. It is a mod for Beta 1.7.3 to improve the experience of Minecraft according to how the game once was. But... It is Beta, so the code was definitely more inefficient back then. Your mod for when it was for Beta 1.7.3 (I'd probably like "OptiFog + Optimine 1.7.3_HD_E_MT") would be a great benefit to use in NFC, where I'd make peple required to download and install your mod first then boot NFC with it (NFC is massive, so it modifies a lot and I cannot simply make it "compatible"), but your downloads to those old versions are broken. There is still a mildly active Beta community, and it is generally known your links are broken. So fixing at least Beta 1.7.3 downloads would be nice, as that is the most popular Beta version...

Or... it would be nicer if I could simply integrate Optifine into NFC, and I would not mind giving you something in return for the ability to do that. Since that would have people not go to your adfly, I would not mind paying you a few dollars a month in return. That's worth a few thousand clicks, and the community for NFC is only around 100 people atm. Or if you are looking for something else - like putting "Optifine Included" in the main menu, I'm flexible to make something work.

It would be really nice either way.

Do you remember this old Minecraft ad?

Let's give it a new twist, shall we?

    WELCOME TO NEW FRONTIER CRAFT
A new adventure in Old Minecraft!

To begin explaining this mod to someone who may know nothing about Beta Minecraft is like trying to explain Minecraft to someone that has never played Minecraft. This mod is unique, it is intentionally built on an old version of Minecraft. Why Beta 1.7.3? Because that is considered to be the golden age of Beta, or for most, the golden age of Old Minecraft in general. We believe someone has been lost as the game has developed, and part of the goals New Frontier Craft has is to revive those aspects of the game that has faded... Yet is also has intentions of bringing something new to Old Minecraft, to make you feel new again to the game. I could go on, but I would just be repeating the front page of the wiki. Interested? Check it out!
The front page also includes stuff like the download, how to install, a ton of information on the mod, servers, the YouTube channel, the Discord chat, and all that good jazz.

    New Ore Generation
After a conversation with Youngy, I really got to thinking about the ore generator. NFC's original reasons for it's large veins was to make you grind a bit to rebuild work ethic and give you a sense of accomplishment when you finally found the mass loads of ore in a vein. Then with this rebuilt work ethic you build like a mad man as you've been thinking about what you're going to build in all those caves and now you have all the supplies. It works well - on a few people. At the moment, this is one of the things I have added to NFC that has a lot of mixed opinions, either people love it or hate it. Or get use to it. Another interesting side effect of this new generation is once you've explored and trenched through multiple caves and have all you need, after building a lot people seem to say I'm finished and leave NFC for a little while. So I thought I need to mix two concepts - for those who like to explore caves and find specks of ore here and there, and for those who like the large veins. Also for the reason to keep NFC mining interesting as to painful.

Then it hit me - that's it! Concentrated ore, but not all as one vein. Watch this video if you haven't already yet:

I got one of the ideas from an older mod I saw back in the golden days, I can't seem to find it again. During my search for it, I also found this: http://customoregen.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Cloud
Give him some credit for the idea, but I already had something like this in mind, this just helps visualize it way better.

Now the amount of ore generated in one of these clusters would be lower than the large veins in NFC currently because they'd be a lot eaiser to find. I still want to have a working aspect to this, but I will attempt to remove the grinding bland aspect as caves now are quite blank without ore until you find source. With these clusters/clouds, people that like doing branch mining will also be able to use that again in this.
But which do you like better? Vote: http://strawpoll.me/4172168

    A New Catch Phrase

So currently the phrase commonly seen next to NFC right now is "The Answer to your Minecraft Nostalgia", which fits well except for that gives the portrayal that we have it all, everything is done and ready for you to experience Old MC again with others. The problem with that is we don't have that yet, NFC has a lot more developing to do and is still sorta in an early stage, but's community is becoming a bit more stable. Believe me, NFC is going to be a massive mod eventually, in the style of old MC to really try and regenerate that feeling. But it's still rather far from that, so maybe a better phrase would be "Rebuilding Old Minecraft". But we aren't really focused on older versions, so maybe it should be "Rebuilding Old Minecraft with Something New" or "Rebuilding Old Minecraft Together" or I don't know, give me some ideas for this in the comments, I won't have a vote for this.

    1.8.4

So which do you guys want to see first -

Documents: A mixture between a book and a sign, where you can put a page of information onto a block in the world, and you can sign it. Once you sign it you can still edit it, but only YOU can edit it. You cannot copy a document.
Spreadable Mossy Cobblestone: Self-Explanatory, but with a new block "Grassy Cobble" as a transition, or 2 transition blocks. Would require cobble, seeds or already existing mossy cobble, and water to spread.
    Or...
    The new ore generator?

Plans for the Next Few Weeks

    In Chronological Order:
Code 1.8.3_01 - Removing the need for Modloader and multiple performance updates to counteract the lag created throughout developing NFC
Make NFC THE STORY - The Nostalgia Begins
Stabilize server inflow with a proper whitelist process
Make a large effort to spread NFC
    Begin coding 1.8.4

    During all of this:
Begin posting a stable, constant series on the channel of us on the new server
Keep up with school work, might slow down the process here and there.

posted a message on New Frontier Craft - Remember the Alpha/Beta days?
Remember when you were new to Minecraft? The Alpha and Beta were so much different than the modern versions we have today. Some may think both are quite different games but like both, or you might be like me where you really don't like the modern versions at all. You might be loaded with nostalgia and not know what to do with it.
Either way, you probably think those days are dead. You either have come to accept it and just play modern now, but occasionally old Minecraft versions. Or you are like me where you feel as if you live in the old versions of Minecraft, where a sense of great community, constructive abilities, actual adventure, and ideas were formed. Now you play those old versions, by yourself...
    Alone.
Maybe you've found a few old servers that people hosted and still host, but they are barren and the subscribers on that channel is inactive. Or their server simply shut down not long ago. Yet again you find yourself...
    Alone.
I found myself like this and knew there could be something done. There should be something done. Something that would bring the old community and old spirit back that we all felt in Minecraft. At first I thought that feeling existed just because I was new at the time but over time I noticed I still played late Beta with the same feeling even though I had played for a little while by that time. That feeling started to die around Beta 1.8.1.So there must be a way to revive that feeling.
I noticed no one was going to do anything about this. Then it began, I should do something about this. As I searched deeper, I found that community still exists, waiting to be awakened. But that community is broken apart throughout the internet.
For a while I hosted old Minecraft version servers, mostly Beta 1.7.3. That feeling came back for a short time, but it was not stable. I noticed to truly bring back the old days, I'm going to have to do more than just host some servers. As our channel grew, I dug REALLY deep into what Minecraft was and how it created everything we felt and built in it. At the same time I learned to code in Java. After a year, I knew I had the knowledge and power to create something beautiful.
I dedicated a lot of my free time in the summer to develop this mod that I call New Frontier Craft. It is developed on the code of Beta 1.7.3, and it's where I create my own versions of Minecraft the way I think it should have been developed, what it truly needed instead of the Adventure Update and all the rubbish following it.
This is not just what I think though, this mod has truly worked, my deep digging really payed off. Nearly everyone on our NFC server has told me I really have brought something back.Something they never thought they would experience again. As NFC is developed and the server grows, the Old Spirit only seems to grow more.
Your nostalgia finally has an answer.
So don't just subscribe, help us expand the community of the Old. Don't just make a post somewhere, tell your friends that played Old Minecraft too. This mod has the potential to make the Old come back.

    So let's make that happen.
