I'll go ahead and mention that I plan on doing a multiplayer let's play on a private server once my viewer base increases. So if anybody is interested, go ahead and send me a forum PM here and I'll keep in touch until then.
Constructive criticism on videos until then would be nice though!
I've recently decided I'd try out the whole commentary/gaming YouTube scene, since it's always something I've wanted to try, but never had the motivation too. So earlier today, I decided to start! Granted I won't be doing only Minecraft, but rather many other games as well, both new and old. But my starting video is of Minecraft, and is the introduction to my channel, and the Minecraft singleplayer Let's Play series that I'll be doing.
Again, I'm completely new to this so I apologize for any mishaps or imperfections. So with that said, here's the video, hopefully you'll enjoy it and possibly subscribe!
Yes. But hey, PS3 is proven to be better then Xbox…
MOJANG, PLEASE! PS3 MINECRAFT!
Can we stop with the entire "XBOX IZ B BETTER ZEN PS3 BLEEHHARHRHRGG" argument? I personally have both, and they have their pro's and con's. It's all opinionated.
Anywho, back on topic. Awesome look at the Xbox version of Minecraft, can't wait to try it myself! Might take a little getting used to the controls though, 'eh, who knows!
Oh wow! I just noticed this as-well! However I don't like the fact it seeps through every last block.. It'd be nice if it was only for things such as sandstone, dirt, cobblestone, grass, etc. Not stuff like iron, etc. But none-the-less, it's still pretty cool! It'll add a little more detail if anybody is willing to make sewers!
You can set the number of slots in server.properties to a number as high/low as you want.
Alright, sweet! Thanks for the answer! Now myself and the tech-team'll just have to work on upgrading our hardware to support the community of 1000+ "Minecraftians" a week or two after our initial launch. >_>
Boy will I hate to see the bill on this..
I should also probably mention, if anybody out there/here is an experienced custom plugin developer, willing to be paid actively for his work, contact me!
We're also probably going to be looking for free-laboring staff. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :wink.gif:
No, no, no. That's not what I'm asking, ignore the part with our current server specs.. Not sure why I put that in there, I'm tired and I'm not thinking right I suppose. Anywho, I'm asking if there is just a general limit to the amount of slots a server can have.
Ignore all possible specifications, but is there a limit to the amount of slots you can set your server up with? For example, some multiplayer games only allow you to have servers with a maximum of 50 slots lets say. Is Minecraft the same way? Or can you have as many slots as you desire, regardless of whether or not you have the hardware to actually support it or not.
I'm absolutely not a "newb" by any means, I've ran a server in the past, it was very successful, but this time around, we're going to be working with a MUUUUUCCCHHHH larger playerbase. We're going to be starting out with the following specs:
Intel Xeon E3-1230
8GB ECC DDR3 RAM
500GB SATA2 Harddrive
100mbps port (upgrading to a gig-line very shortly after the launch of the server)
CestOS 5.7 64bit
5gb NAS
and MySQL 5 database software
I know the average amount of players that could generally support, but I can't for the life of me find out if there is a limit to the amount of players a single Minecraft server can hold, or is it literally just an unlimited amount?
