Lol gay server. I make a remark on one of the buildings and i got banned.
This griefer glitched his way out of our spawn area, then after trying to entertain him with a glass maze, he gave up, respawned, glitched out of spawn area again, then proceeded to run towards our buildings with TNT in hand that he obviously spawned without admin powers.
Vanilla is not what flavor we are.
But seriously, all jokes aside, it's a term used to explain the natural/normal way a game is supposed to be played. In our server, Vanilla means there are no infinite item spawns. Yes there are Teleports and warps. But this is only for the higher ranked members who dont focus on building like an average player. The people with the special permissions are ONLY here to HELP you in the case of something going wrong/griefing problems.
WE ARE NOT A WHITELIST SERVER
When you join the server you will join on a [BUILDER] rank. This comes with a gray name. You will spawn in a region selection zone, but you might notice you cannot edit anything in there. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CANT BUILD! We have simply protected our spawn area so that other people can join in peace. When you spawn, youll see a lot of squares with different environments. You will learn what those are at a later time, the best thing a new player can do is enter through the nether portal we have setout. There are further explanations of the rules in the tunnel.
If you want to be promoted from the gray [builder] rank to the white [regular] rank, just leave an application on this forum post and it will be accepted 99% of the time within an hour or two. A Regular gets an extra permission of the DeadMan'sChest. If you die, a chest and sign will appear at your site of death! Thus holding tightly all of your belongings. A [builder] can still use it, but must have a chest and sign in their inventory previously before the time of death, a [regular] will have it happen automatically no matter what.

We claim to be a vanilla server, and we are. But due to SMP bugs and lack of content, we have quite a few plugins purely for server benefits and grief-proofing. (server benefits as in specialized spawn area etc)
Although it's not a plugin, I can personally watch the server from anywhere I am with an SSH client i have on my android phone. So if i'm busy or out of my house, i can constantly watch the server console if there are any issues.
