posted a message on Making a Superhero Server, need Builders
I am currently building up a superhero server, and need people to help me build spawn. I already have a few of the major buildings lain out, as well as how I want it set up.

The idea behind the server is that players can be good or evil, and get one superpower each (Invincibility, Item-spawning (Of a single item), flying, kill aura, x-ray vision, super-pick, etc). Spawn will be a safe area, for RPing, trading, etc. Outside of spawn, anything goes. However, once in a while the area outside of spawn may have generic buildings and shops added to it to give atmosphere and random loot. There will also be lairs, which can either be staff or player made, that players can explore. If they are player-made, glorious battles of good and evil can take place. Although good players aren't allowed to steal, they will get a bounty from the defeat of supervillains. Eventually, there will be greater story-lines, but for now I'm focusing on building.

That's what it will be eventually, I have yet to set up the plugins, with the exception of WorldEdit.

Please fill out the following. If you are accepted, I will give you creative. You will not be OP'ed under any circumstances. This is an application for builders only. Any builders who help out well will start the game with two superpowers, if they decide they'd like to play.

View of the Cobra Island Volcano

    Story
The dastardly Cobra Commander is at it again! But GI Joe doesn’t know what, so they sent you, their top ninja Snake Eyes, to get to the bottom of it, alongside Shipwreck and Cover Girl. However, this island is not so easy to escape as it seems, and now you must escape before Dr. Mindbender can experiment upon and possibly brainwash you.

Springfield - A nice little town

    Gameplay
This adventure is mostly exploratory. With three paths to victory, and several bonus challenges besides, an emphasis is placed upon discovering the secrets of Cobra Island. The game won’t direct you to where you need to go to find the next clue; you need to think logically to figure out where you need to go next. Although many buildings have basements and other secrets you can find upon close inspection, much of the island is non-essential to the story.

    Rattler Hangar

    Rules
    1. You may break wood and dirt
    2. You may craft, but nothing that requires a crafting table.
    3. Do not place blocks that assist in parkour

    In Character

    Name: Oni
    Age: 24
    Gender: Female
    Class: Squire (Tier 1 Militia)
    Backstory:

Oni was born into a minor nobility in her home, the third of four children. From birth, she had always had destructive tendancies, and was scolded and punished for it by her father. Although her mother was gentler with her, she was detatched from her children and paid them no heed. As a result, they were brought up by a series of governesses, many of whom were driven away by Oni's antics. Oni had a tendency to break things, which she grew out of; and also to steal her siblings' and parents' items, which she did not grow out of.

When she was 12, her father sent her away to a boarding school. There, she formed a group that would steal from the professors. They didn't know what to do with the money, and gave it to various street beggers. This continued for a few years, and they expanded their targets to the nobility and merchants. However, it ended when she was 14, got caught by the city guard, and was expelled from the school.

She continued these activities until she was 17, when her parents disowned her after she was caught a second time. As she was leaving, her mother informed her that she was not her child, only her father's. Her real mother's name was a girl by the name of "Catherine."

Oni led a life of thievery and searching for her real mother, and grew a large bounty from her antics. However, when she was 24, Oni fled to Albion from her home to seek a new beginning, as well as to avoid the law. She used her experience dealing with guards and soldiers to become a soldier, and so far, she has managed to stay on the straight and narrow.

She decided to end the "stealing from the rich to give to the poor" before coming to Albion after witnessing someone she stole from get arrested for not having enough to pay his taxes. She had thought he was rich because of the coin he carried, but it had been his entire life savings.

Strengths and Weaknesses: She is a recovering kleptomaniac, as well as being a frequent (But very bad) liar. She is quick to the point, and has a kind heart. She tends to be a braggart and abrasive. She is a natural leader.

You are Detective Annika from Blank City. You were transferred to Calcium City because two groups of criminals have started acting up in the city.

    Extensive city-scape

CREEP is a group of supergriefers intent on annoying everyone and anyone.

BLAZE is a group of politicians and religous leaders [In groups such as Jebohvah's witnesses and the Church of Notch] who attempt to usurp cities for unknown reasons.

It is up to you to foil their plans... once you figure out what they are.

    Annoying villains

    Like, really annoying

So. This map is mostly solving crimes and finding clues. It has the prerequisite amount of jumpy puzzles necessary for a decent minecraft map.

However, the conversations are dynamic. Using BATCH code (.bat files), I have created dynamic conversations for you to interact with the characters in the game. They won't destroy your computer, promise.

Just type in the number next to your response (1,2,3, etc) and press enter.

You can right click on the conversation.bat files and select 'edit' if you want to see the code. If you can't run BATCH codes (I believe they are windows-only), just read the transcript.

    Dastardly crimes

Best if played on peaceful. It was designed so that one player may complete it, but it should also be fine multiplayer.

posted a message on Superhero Server, looking for Staff
The plugins and map for this server are all set up in the following download link; I just need somebody willing to host the server.

    Link

This server is a superhero server, in which every regular player will eventually be either a superhero or a supervillain. Yup, just like that episode of Darkwing Duck.

For this server to work, the whitelist applications have to be very hard to prevent noobs, griefers, and similar people from coming onto the server. See the whitelist application at the end of the post for more information.

While you are waiting to get hit by gamma radiation, you play as a police officer, a police chief, the mayor, a normal criminal, or a business owner. Of course, anyone can set up a shop in the shopping district.

    Here are some screenshots.

    Police Officers

Anyone can be a junior police officer. Make sure to put it in your app if you’re going to be one. The police chief decides when you become a senior officer. You cannot become a criminal if you are a police officer, you have to quit 3 days before.

Police officers can live at the station if there isn’t a home available, or they don’t have the resources available to buy a home. Their duties are to hunt down criminal scum, stop fires, defend against monsters, prevent fights, and maintain the rules as put down by the mayor.

    Police Chief
The police chief is chosen either by the mayor or the moderators. The chief must be at least a senior officer.

The duty of the police chief is to train new officers, and to deploy them against various threats. The chief also fulfills the duties police officers have. The chief decides whether junior officers need PVP training, and when they become senior officers.

    The Mayor
The mayor is either chosen by the people or the moderators. If more than 70% of regular players dislike the mayor, they may select another. Supervillains and criminals don’t have a say in this, but they are free to try and take over the town.

The mayor has several duties. The mayor acts as a judge, the rule-maker, the city planner, and the head teacher at the Business College of Minecraftia.

As judge, the mayor decides whether the criminal goes into low or maximum security prison. The jury determines guiltiness, but the judge can overrule this. The mayor may appoint a judge instead.

As rule-maker, the mayor decides the rules for the city. He cannot appoint someone to do this job.

As city planner, the mayor decides when to expand the town. The mayor also is who you need to check with to get a plot. The mayor may decide that plots cost money, and may even apply taxes. The mayor may appoint a city planner, but still gets the profits.

As head teacher, the mayor keeps the plugin tutorials up to date. The mayor may appoint a teacher.

    Criminal
Criminals are chosen specifically by the mods. They are players who are responsible enough to follow these rules for criminals, and behave with honor.

It is the goal of the criminal to survive without doing any actual work. They can kill and steal, but unlike the supervillain, they do not get to build an evil lair. Their bed is assigned to a jail cell in the courthouse after they decide to become a criminal. The judge may choose to send them to maximum security prison instead, but that is generally reserved for supervillains.

Although criminals are allowed to kill, they shouldn’t do it without purpose. Because criminals are normal, they don’t want to draw attention to themselves. Police are more likely to focus on a murderer/thief than a thief.

Don’t commit crimes unless there is at least one police officer/superhero for each criminal/supervillain online. If you do, you may lose your privileges as a criminal.

As for vandalism, only use it to get into or out of somewhere. If you really want to, you may leave a calling card sign of some sort.

If you are accused of committing a crime, but you did not, you may bring it to court. Otherwise, the court simply decides whether you are a minimum or maximum security prisoner. They may also assign your cell.

Don’t steal too much stuff; only steal what you need to survive comfortably. If you want a better place to live, you can always bribe someone to build it for you. It must be outside of town. You could always build it yourself, but the point of being a criminal is to reduce the work you have to do.

You cannot change your bed from your cell.

    Business Owner/Citizen
The default class. It’s fairly neutral between superheroes and supervillains, but superheroes protect them and supervillains steal from them.

They are allowed to get a home and a shop, if they’re approved by the city planner. Until then, they may claim a bed at the dorms.

    Superheroes/Supervillains
These groups have superpowers. They are very carefully chosen by the moderators.

The goal of a superhero is to protect the citizens from theft, murder, etc. In their battles, they want to avoid property damage

The goal of the supervillain is to live comfortably, probably at the expense of others. The rules for supervillains are the same as for criminals, but they are allowed to build an evil lair. Supervillains may recruit criminals if they wish.

    Rules
    No Griefing.
No Stealing Unless You Are a Criminal/Supervillain.
    Avoid PVP Unless Necessary.
    No Hacking.
    No Spamming.
    Be Respectful.

Note that the mayor may have some rules posted at City Hall. Not following these won’t result in a ban, but the penalty is usually death, unless you’re a criminal/supervillain. The rules are enforced by the police. If it’s a minor rule [IE, do not walk on grass] you’ll probably just get a warning.

    Whitelist Application
-This will be used for players, not moderators/admins. Mods/admins will usually be chosen from among the players

    General
    IGN: In-game name
Age: Must be 13 or older. Keep in mind that only players who can behave maturely are accepted.
What are some servers you’ve been on before: This is to ensure that they’re not a noob
Name 3 admins/moderators from among these servers that can vouch for your maturity if contacted: This is to ensure they’re not a noob/griefer
To your knowledge, have you ever been banned: This is to ensure they’re not a griefer

    In-Game
-This is actually to gauge maturity and intelligence; it’ll probably never be used again. Just like how RPG servers use backstories.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why:
Why would someone want to be a superhero/supervillain:

We probably won’t need any more admins/mods other than the server host at first, but you're welcome to apply if you wish to be one. If you do, include in your app 1 other server you've been a mod/admin on.

posted a message on Fortresses: Obby Tower

    Main Strengths:
    - Hidden Entrance
    - Obsidian walls
    - All the lava

    Main Weaknesses:
    - Secret passageway is easily found
    - Glass windows
    - Hard to hide

    Areas for Development:
    - Put a lava layer beneath the ground, so that it is impossible for anyone to try to dig for the secret entrance
    - Improve the security of the window that accesses the main base, perhaps by limiting the number of glass blocks that touch the outer wall
    - Move it to the nether, and have the secret entrance conceal the passage to the fort

    Any suggestions for more developments?
