Some time ago I came across a zombie with a piece of diamond armor. I believe this is my second encounter with one in all of my years of play, though I am not sure. For a long while I thought that mobs spawning with diamond armor was a hoax.

I have had a handful of full diamond armor zombies show up in my giant grinder on a server before. That was within the past 3 years, though. I haven't seen them anywhere outside of the grinder.

posted a message on So what do you guys think about the new 1.14 textures?

I don't like them at all. I "grew up" with the old textures and they are very iconic to most people. Being only 16x resolution, another thing I prefer about them is how "crisp" they look compared to the newer ones which just feel soft and plastic-y. I would much rather prefer that they just make some small improvements to the current textures rather than create entirely new ones.

posted a message on Enderman occasionally attack without provocation? (1.13)

So I have been playing 1.13 for a while and sometimes, while in the end, I have found that enderman will sometimes attack for seemingly no reason. Often times I am about 20 blocks or more away from one, and I'm not doing anything that should aggravate them, such as looking at them. Is this happening to anyone else?

I agree to a certain extent, but at the same time I do enjoy the "fantasy" aspects of the game. I would still prefer more ores and stuff like that, though.

posted a message on Very strange problem on (mostly) vanilla 1.12.1 server

I have been playing on a nice SMP server for 2 years, and it recently was updated to 1.12.1. I played for a while, then left for the night. The next day when I came on, my game got stuck at the "loading terrain" screen for about 10 minutes, and when I finally got on the server I had 0 bars in the connection. Ever since then the server has been unplayable since the same thing happens. I can't open chests, place blocks, use chat (literally takes 20-30 minutes for a message to go through) This only happens in the survival world, and on worlds like creative I have 5 bars and am able to do everything normally. The server owners did a traceroute and at first thought that my ISP was the problem, but I went to a few different places that had different ISPs and had the same problem. I tried getting on the server with an alternate account, and I had the same problem. Now we think this is somehow a server side issue considering how I have a good connection and it just started, but we are clueless as to what could have caused this. Since I have 2 years of work into builds on the server, I really would like to fix this and be able to play again. Does anyone else have this problem, and a solution?

posted a message on What are some stupid ban/kick/jail reasons you have seen or experienced?
    Quote from Sodalite1»

After having an absence from playing the game for a while, nearly a year perhaps, I went back on my game. It was on my laptop instead of my PC, so I had to make a new server list (hopefully less cluttered than the last). Decided to join one of my old favourite servers, I think it was Mineplex. Joined. Well, nearly.

'Banned'. My account was hacked while I was gone, apparently. Banned me from all the popular servers. One of the server bans was 'Banned: Alt of TapTrapp'. Presumably that's the hacker then.

But the hacker must be REALLY clever. I've never known a TapTrapp. Never shared my passcode. Honestly, some people are complete jerks..

Doesn't matter too much though, I've found less popular but more fun servers now. Don't really care about the likes of Mineplex and such anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Mineplex will sometimes unban you if you appeal for a compromised account, have you tried that?

I dont have a problem with either combat system, they're different and one is better for people who prefer action and fast-paced fights where you have to think quickly, and one is better for people who prefer slow, strategic and timed fights. As I said, I don't mind either.

But boy oh boy, do I love how the new combat fanboys try to find excuses as to why an optional old combat toggle shouldn't be added. Just because you like a different combat system to them, doesn't mean you have to stop them having the combat system they like. You can still play 1.9+ combat however much you like. And then they complain how people who prefer the old combat (which isn't a choice, it's a personal preference based on how much someone likes the new combat) are "stubborn" and "don't like change". As I said, I'm pretty neutral on the actual combat issue, but I strongly feel mojang should make both sides happy and add individual toggles such as:

    • Remove the attack cool down completely
    • Revert tool damage (including axes)
    • Make the shield function like the old blocking (shields wouldn't completely absorb anything)
    • Disable sweep attack and axe stun thingy
    • Other combat changes which I forgot

This way, people bring back the features they liked while adopting new ones they like too.

I still don't understand why they are so against a gamerule. Hypixel and Mineplex would finally update and both sides would be happy. If you have been reading the past few pages, you will see that some of the pro-1.9 members don't want one simply because they believe that it has absolutely no skill required, it is stupid and boring, and nobody should be able to use it.

People love to complain, even if what they're complaining about is practically nonexistent problems. It feels good to be "right," even if what you're talking about has no basis in reality. And it doesn't really matter that what you're complaining about is something that doesn't matter whatsoever.

Uh, what? The opinions of people who prefer older versions matter just as much as people who prefer newer versions. Also, kind of ironic how you say that if feels good to be "right" and that doesn't matter in reality, when that is pretty much what you are doing right now.

I really wonder, how difficult would it really be if Mojang added in a gamerule to revert the combat, but ignored rebalancing the game? I mean, think about all the other gamerules, do they rebalance the game at all to accommodate for what they do? And really, a lot of what you can do to revert it manually takes more work than what it would take Mojang; I mean, if we had a gamerule to disable the cooldown, it could theoretically be done with a line to see if the gamerule is false and another to set the remaining cooldown to zero every tick, which I would say is far easier than dealing with all the headaches command blocks bring, especially if your not familiar with them.

Exactly. I still don't see why a gamerule or some default option to remove it is that big of a deal. There is peaceful mode which disables the hunger bar so I don't know why a gamerule would be the end of the world.

Part of me can't believe this thread is still kicking.

The other half of me is not surprised.

The best thing I can think of to do about 1.9 combat is not to remove it like many say, but to have a "Combat Update 2" which would add some things desirable for PvP, which would make servers want the new things and at least try out the new combat system. But that's never going to happen.

I personally think a gamerule to revert to the old system would be better (heck, the community has been asking for one for over a year) because that way the big servers would be able to fully update without loosing their entire playerbase.

posted a message on Showing scoreboard to players only in a certain radius

I am working on a multiplayer minigame on my Multiverse server. The game runs entirely off of command blocks (don't have the resources or patience to make plugins) and it has a visible scoreboard. Unfortunately, there are no plugins available to keep the scoreboard from showing up in the other worlds. Because of this, I just want to make the scoreboard visible to all players within a certain radius. How would I go about doing that?

The majority are running on 1.8/1.7 because they falsely believe that 1.9 is bad, or there are benefits like mods that they wish to hold onto. Just because the majority believe something does not make it correct.

Falsely? People have reasons other than that "they just cant stand change". I still think 1.9 is bad because of the slowed down combat (and don't try telling me that 1.8 required no skill and is stupid) as well as the fact that combos are gone (but then again, that could be a good thing depending on how you look at it) and all that other stuff. This is the same reason the largest servers in the world (mineplex, Hypixel, etc) still haven't updated, because 98% of their playerbase prefers the 1.8 style combat.

I still don't understand why they can't just add a gamerule to revert to 1.8 combat. Literally every single problem would be solved, and nobody would be forcing each other to use one or the other.

posted a message on Please revert this 1.11 change

So 1.11 introduced a new mob mechanic: zombie villagers and zombies are now separate species and so this means that a zombie spawner will no longer spawn zombie villagers. It's the same way with skeletons and wither skeletons. Skelly spawners no longer spawn wither skeletons in the nether. This was the only way to get enough wither skulls to fight a wither without spending days in a nether fortress trying to get even one skull. With the zombie spawners, some players (like me) make nice trading halls full of cured villagers that are connected to a spawner. Now, building one of these in the new update would be very tedious and slow.

So I want to ask, what was the point in doing this? Spawners working this way made the game a lot more fun and engaging. Now it seems Mojang is just trying to ruin the game (removing infinity and mending from bows, really?) and now this. Is this planned to be reverted in a future update?

posted a message on What is the new combat system in 1.11.1?

I just tried the new 1.11.1 snapshot, and in the list on the Mojang website I noticed this paragraph:

"There is also a new (potentially controversial) change to the combat mechanics. Without revealing what it is, you will most definitely notice the difference when you try out the snapshot. We anticipate much feedback."

I tried the snapshot and started fighting creepers with a diamond sword and didn't notice anything. Is this something that will only be in PvP? I just hope they haven't made the combat more tedious and frustrating than it already is.
