    Hi everyone!

    It's been a long time since I left the modding scene for minecraft, yet I still have the odd person get in touch with me on almost a weekly basis asking me if I could return. As fun as it was, I've long since moved onto other projects and developments.

    A question I'm frequently asked is if my mods could be used for this or that, etc...
    Any and all of my work related to minecraft is free to be used or manipulated as anyone would like. Rei's minimap is a good example of this since it was started with my minimap's sourcecode lol.

    The 3000th reply only seemed fitting, lol.

    But yeah, I'm glad others continued on with my work; I feel sorry for lahwran though, I was going to give him the original source when he took over the mod, but I'd lost the original source and he was forced to work with a half obfuscated copy.

    Same with creating new areas, they're both saved on stop/restart now to help minimize hard drive writes that hang the server.
    Saves like half a second of lag, but it's still something.

    Probably hanging periodically when the area data is saved, I'll get a fix out today.

    - Quick fix, recommended update
    - Improved data redundancy
    - If a data line is corrupt, only that line is lost
    - Area backup saves disabled (working on fix)
    - Offline player promotions are logged

    Hey Zan, I'm confirming the area backup bug. Checked the logs, it's a total server crash on my end. No log, the wrapper just locks up when trying to backup huge areas. Tried it on my test server, it deleted everything in the area data file, and the logs don't even show anything. The wrapper just locks up and stops recording. If you need an exact measure, let me know, and i'll pop my map into MCEdit and give you a chunk count for size. May take about a day for me to respond though. Hope this helps, even without a log file to report.     I think I'm going to have to create a new file format specifically for the area backups to better handle huge amounts of data.

    Have any details? How large was the area, did it crash on creation of the area, etc ...
    I've been using it for a few days without issue on mc.dstrike.net , so it might be difficult to track down the cause.

    If a spawner is near grass, it'll still spawn pigs, but they're not real, they're client-side only and vanish on relogging.
