For those who find tundras fun and exciting, please do not read this thread! Well, you can of course. But your probably going to throw a biased comment.
Another note:
Not everyone of these ideas has to be added. Just throwing them out there.

IMPROVING
TUNDRA'S/
TAIGA'S
My take on improving tundra's:In minecraft it is fair to say (opinion wise) that tundras are the 2nd most boring biome (under oceans of course.) There is snow and maybe some trees and yeah, you get your occasional mountain. No villages or any structures at all. No biome specific mobs at the least.
While in real life, its so much different. There are arctic foxes running about. Eskimo peoples hunting wild caribou. Igloo's being built, trees being depleted of leaves due to the howling wind. Some even believe that in the deep of the tundra, yetis walk about.
The whole reason that i have made this thread is to try to bring some of exciting nature of the real arctic to minecrafts boring tundras. You be the judge on how good i am at it.
Structures
Igloos:Igloos will be small houses made out of snow. They are found in groups of 3-5. Most igloos have nothing in them besides snow. But sometimes you will find a chest with items in them. Igloos are also uncommon to find.
Tundra Inhibitors inhabit these cold homes, and when not hunting at day, are safely inside there home. Cuddled up with others. Also, not every igloo has a wooden door. The igloo community is safely protected by wooden fencing.
Hard to see? Sorry. Oh and bigger than how they will actually be.
Bandit encampments:A bandit encampment is an encampment....for bandits. Basically its surrounded by logs as a fencing (tree wood that has not been "refined" into planks.) The ground is made up of dirt. But in the middle of the encampment is a big structure (kind of resembles a tree house the way it stands and how you have to use a ladder to get inside.) made out of wood. That is were all the bandits inhabit. There are always multiple chest inside containing food, weapons, or tools (compass, flint, map piece, etc.) So even though bandit encampments are a rare find, they are worth it. (If you can make it past the 2-4 bandits!)
Front of an encampment (no bandits yet) and smaller than actual size.

Terrain
Leave-less Trees:This is the arctic for crying out loud. Why does every tree have leaves? This isn't a necessary update, but why not? It would add a feel of actually being in the cold.
Quite realistically, there should be only few trees in some parts of the tundra. Looking at pictures of real arctics, there are parts that look like a snow-desert.
There should be some part of the tundra that has snow deeper than just ankle deep. In real life snow can vary from 1 foot to 20 feet. Honestly, this would kind of be exciting. You would have to watch your step or have to dig your self out of snow.
MOBS
Tundra Inhibitors- The native people who inhabit the tundra's and the igloo community's. Like villagers, they will trade with you. They mostly trade raw material (leather and such) for dyes and other things they wouldn't really find in there home biome.
Unlike villagers, if you attack one, it will attack you back. So yes, there neutral. (The whole village will try to kill you and they will become permanently hostile.) They have 7 "hearts" of life and fight with cobblestone swords and bows and arrows. (Can be tough to kill.)If you kill them, you get some of there things (whatever they were willing to trade to trade.)
They occasionally leave there homes, and hunt once in a while. (They will not stray to far away from there homes.) They hunt whatever animal they can find. Igloo community's hold 3-5 Tundra Inhibitors.
Arctic Fox-
Common passive animal. Fast, and has 5 "hearts" of life. White coat of fur blends in with the snow. When its killed it drops up to:1 fur (i'll get to that later) and 1 piece of fox. (Eaten raw it restores 1 "food icon", cooked it restores 5.)
Penguins-
These flightless birds are only found by frozen lakes/oceans. So there pretty rare. Found in packs of 5 and passive. Can also swim in water and belly slide. When killed it drops up to: 1-3 feathers or an penguin beak (i'll get to that.) You can saddle a penguin and ride him. He will slide on his belly and can swim through water. He can only transport players on ice or water. (Idea by SkarmorySilver.)
Penguin
Penguin Sliding
Penguin Swimming
Walruses-Big animal found only by frozen ocean (rare.) Found in packs of 3. Neutral. When attacked all other walruses will help it try to kill you. Slow attackers/movers but strong, they do 5 damage of health. Upon death it drops up to: 1 walrus meat, (raw it restores 3 "food icons", cooked it restores all.) 1 walrus tusk (i'll get to that.) Or one piece of walrus blubber. (I'll also get to that.)
Viscous Wolfs-
These wolfs, unlike there neutral cousins are hostile and cannot be tamed. Same stats as wolf but drops 1-3 fur. Brown to black in color. Viscous wolfs hate normal/tamed wolfs. If they see a player, then they see a normal/tamed wolf, they will switch targets to the wolf. (Idea by SkarmorySilver.)
Viscous Wolf [looks pretty scary]
Polar Bear-
These animals are found commonly in this arctic biome. They start neutral, but once you get 5 blocks away from it, it will stand on its legs and roar loudly. Get any closer and it will attack. It does 6 damage of health and has 10 "hearts" of life. Polar bears will often attack Eskimo's and other mobs. Upon death the bear will drop 1-5 fur.
Caribou-
Big, furry, passive, and common animals of the arctic. Travel in packs of 3-5. Upon death drops either 1-2 fur or 1-2 leather.
Also, if you connect a lead to a minecart from a Caribou, the Caribou will push you around at the speed of an horse. Cannot jump though, so not a good idea when at mountains/hills. No need to tame Caribou. (Idea by SkarmorySilver.)
Caribou
Bandits-The thieves of the tundra. They are rare to find and live in bandit encampments. They are hostile, and live in packs of 2-4. Like Eskimos, they will occasionally hunt. (Best time to find them.) Use wooden swords, walrus tusk swords, or bows and arrows. They have 7 "hearts" of life each. Drops either: 1 piece of used fur armor (i'll get to that), 1-5 arrows, used bow, or a used walrus tusk sword (i'll get to that. They are not wearing the fur armor, they just drop it.)
(Just an idea for now, tell me if i should use.) Yetis-
Tall, rare, neutral, mysterious, and furry describe this creature. Roams from day to night. White coat of fur helps it blend with the snow. Try's to avoid the player. When seen will try to sprint away from player. But if attacked, will do 3 damage to the player and it has 5 life. (Easy kill.) Upon death it will either drop 1-4 fur and it will always drop an yeti eye (i'll get to that.)

Just like a normal fence but bright orange. It is also blast resistant. Path Potion:
Add the yeti eye to a brewing stand and water bottles to make this potion.
When consumed, there will be a light path that you can see and no one else can see. It last for 20 minutes and leads you to the nearest structure.

Items lost in snow:This is an idea for those who are crazy about realistic-ness in the game. Its simple, when you drop something into the snow, you will have to dig up the snow you dropped your things in to get your things back. Its just an idea to think about.
