Are all versions of this map compatible with Minecraft 1dot7dotX or no?

Most of them should be. I'd advise against the most recent ones. It has been years since I dropped the project so I am not sure, but I would check out the different versions with a vanilla install first before adding any mods if that is what you're looking for. I know, I'm months late.

Kudos. Hope your depression gets better.

Thanks. I look forward to the day it gets conquered, and I hope some projects of mine turn out for the best.

Looking back at your old posts and thinking "wow, what was I thinking?" is a positive experience because it shows how much you have grown as a person during your time on the forum, and personal growth is very important. Looking back on my oldest posts here brings a lot of shame, but I'm grateful for how much I've been able to grow over the last decade. If you consider how your posts were back then, and how they are now, then you can imagine the next 5, 10 or 15 years of growth too, and even if you don't feel great right now, and even if you can't imagine feeling great any time soon, there's evidence right in front of you that growth is possible.

You've certainly been a positive contributor to the forum, and although I can't speak on behalf of every member here I can say that the forum appreciates your contributions here, as do I :-) If you consider how many people 50,000 is (it's enough to fill the Liverpool FC Stadium) then based on one of your contributions alone you've positively impacted more people here than most people will ever have a chance to.

Anyway, good luck with everything, we all eventually outgrow our interests and have to make the right decisions for our wellbeing. I haven't played Minecraft in a long time. I hope that when you do feel like visiting you know that you're providing value to others by being here. Thank you for your contributions :-)

Looking back at it, yeah, I have indeed changed over the years a lot. Can't say I'm exactly proud of my old posts, but I'm glad that I'm better today. All for the better, too.

As far as contributing to the forums goes, I guess I just feel this way comparing myself to some of the other veterans of the forum. Can't exactly say I know much of anything regarding the skills of a bunch of other users here. I was pretty excited to learn that my city project got that much attention, to be frank. From said project I've learned a few things about planning and structure, which has proven to be useful in my other projects, although I still encounter a few problems that mostly seem to be tied with mindset.

Thank you for the kind words. Chances are likely I'll hop on every now and then to see how things go. Hope I didn't derail this thread train too much.

This isn't an official leaving, but I've been having a difficult time trying to stay on here for a good while now. At this point I'm kind of ashamed that with all this time I just don't feel like I've contributed much. It's often feels more like a chore to come on here sometimes, but I do it because the servers whose forums I'd use to cruise on are dead at this point, and if I want to talk to anyone about anything MC-related, this is the only place I can really do so. Even then, I'm considering moving away from the forums for a little while to shut out extra exposure to Minecraft. I just don't enjoy the game anymore, and it makes me even more upset knowing that. I've been battling depression for a year and a half now and I don't think it's making my experience, or anyone else's on here any better, and psychotic mood swings are not helping. I don't even want to think of the posts I made when I first started. Good gosh they were bad.

To help with the problem of island heights, what if we had whirlwinds that'd carry you upwards? If you want a better visual, think the ones from the original Spyro trilogy. Plus, have we introduced a way apart from Frores to traverse more difficult areas in the dimension? Falling 30 blocks into damaging liquid nitrogen is a bit harsh for a non-progression-related dimension.

I forget if we're still devising ways to enter the Frist. I have a suggestion to offer: Finding portals in the Nether that lead to this dimension, then with materials from the Frist to be able to make portals near their homes in the overworld.

Their spawning is still tied to insomnia, however the latest snapshot changed the phantoms so that they despawn in the daytime:

    https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-18w09a

Hm... I probably should have rephrased that. To clarify, I meant being able to spawn freely at night akin to other mobs and roaming, instead of spawning around you and swarming around you when you have insomnia. That way explorers and builders aren't punished for doing what they like, yet the Phantom would still be something you'd encounter. Because if the # of days without sleep was just pushed to a really high integer before Phantoms begin spawning, it'd likely suffer from a similar case that the poor Endermite does (I forget it exists sometimes). Sorry if there's still some misunderstanding. Putting my mind into word is not one of my strong suits.

It is kind of a shame. I don't want to be driven away further from what MC is about (digging holes, building things, and exploring the world around you), yet at the same I don't think it's very fair to just shove it aside. I'd be able to get behind a suggestion on the minecraft suggestion site or subreddit regarding moving its spawning to night time instead of being tied to not sleeping.

posted a message on Is Bow Spamming an actual strategy?

I consider it to be a "legit" strategy, mostly if you are not equipped with other weapons. If you have a biw and another person is bow spamming at short range, just pull yours out and deliver fully charged shots. You'll take them out whilst they miss most of their shots, while any damage they'll deal will be negligible. Well there's that, and if you have a shield you can tank them until they run out of arrows. Just watch your flanks for their buddies or any mobs.

posted a message on Minecraft 1.13 Update Opinion Thread

The underwater ruins are neat little additions. I just thought they'd spawn in more village-like formations (unless I just got unlucky). They'd fit well in the old game. A little strange that there's magma blocks around them, though. Buildings don't exactly turn into volcanic vents. :P Makes it easier to spot them I suppose.

For more minor things, I'm surprised the salmon don't change when they're in different biomes. The swimming animation looks pretty cool.

Thus far, with more stuff yet to come, it really looks like this is going to be a solid update to the oceans.

To be frank each of the other mobs would have been great for other themed updates.

    Mob A - Aquatic Update

    Mob C - Cave Update

    Mob D - Nether Update

It actually makes Mob B the misfit that is far more random than the others.

If it wasn't exclusive to spawning when a player hasn't slept, I'd say B/Phantoms would have fit very well into 1.9, what with the end updates. They'd fit well in the end, and apparently they're capable of spawning there already if you haven't slept.

It'd be quite neat if the Mob Xs were actually a sort of snapshot into the future on content updates.

posted a message on "Update Aquatic" (Now 1.13): All Information We Have So Far

I eagerly look forward to seeing fish in-game, even if I just hop on for a few minutes then go leave to play other games. Ever since I first played Minecraft 6 years ago I wanted to see them in the game. An aquarium or pool that isn't just squid will at long last be an option.

EDIT: Silly me. They already are in game. Still awesome!

I like this a lot, more so than the rod. But instead of taking the player to a Misty Seas (which is a barren and relatively boring biome only useful for the excess nitrogen) maybe it should just send the player falling down the sky? When they are falling they have a hidden effect that grants them 100% fall damage reduction. Spawning at the nitrogen ocean would mean they'd have to build 64 blocks up to get to the actual content. A compass is interesting, but to keep it with Woodland Mansion how about a map?

Speaking on which, even though Minecraft updated from 128 to 256 blocks they haven't taken advantage of it yet, mainly because the Overworld had already been set up and they didn't want to ruin old worlds. But with an entirely new dimension, what if the Frist's surface was at 100? That ways caverns can be longer and we won't have 75 blocks of just air.

I like both of these ideas. But to build atop of the latter, why not have some biomes and towers stretch further into the sky? I never got around to commenting on your texture. Looks great.

I'd prefer not to have any boss in this if it can at all be helped.

In general, I'm alright with the idea of a nocturnal hostile flying mobs in the overworld, but not with the fact it only spawns when you haven't slept in a while. Kind of hoping they periodically spawn in mountainous biomes and the end. I think they'd fit very well in the latter.

EDIT: and spawns continuously and follows you around.

Cannot believe I've missed this thread. Atrocious notifications...

I think what needed to be said has already been echoed in this thread. However this should really not come as any surprise considering Mojangrosoft's track record. Whenever we get a large update, it feels like they always just have to put in one somewhat atrocious feature that isn't balanced too well, and for Update Aquatic it's looking a lot like the phantom is going to be the lemon.
