Sep 15, 2014ZaffreAqua posted a message on [Official] Microsoft has Bought Mojang and a message from Notch.I had always thought of Notch as a good guy. He business wise acted like my father, who owns our family business. I had never thought Markus could do such a thing. He was an arrogant fool to do this. More and more indie companies are getting absorbed by money and power hungry billionaires... And the letter he left is rather confusing and infuriating too. I'm glad to at least see people like C418, Searge, Jeb, Dinnerbone, and others to stay at Mojang. What would be most optimistic and best for Mojang is Microsoft is merely there to fund them, and create marketing for them, whilst the Mojangstas keep working on Minecraft, Scrolls, publishing Cobalt, and making new games!Posted in: News

I'd also wish they'd fix the severe lag problems in 1.8, but I'll give them time considering they've been working on 1.8 for over 300 days, are putting out other releases for different consoles, and could use a break after developing 1.8 for so long. Other than that, it's an excellent update!Posted in: News

During 1.8's early development, Dinnerbone stated that he had a “master plan” involving the Endermites and the Dragon egg. That, and Notch in late beta WAS working on a sky dimension, but never made it and only had time to do The End. So I have done some thinking, and have come up with this:
Purifying The End.
How it will be done
Obtain the Dragon egg. (If the game detects no dragon egg after the dragon is defeated, it will spawn another. This is to ensure no griefers destroy the egg, there for rendering it impossible to purify The End without spawning a new one with /give.)
- The egg will remain where you put it. So it's probably a good idea to put it in an Ender chest to make sure no nincompoops do something with it.
What it will look likePlace the egg on the ground.
Right click the Egg with 4 Eye's of Ender.
Now, go out and cause some Endermites to spawn nearby, and they will home in on the Egg and enter it.
The Egg will now have particles emitting from it, and will appear to shake.
Shortly after, you will hear a noise and will be teleported to your bed/spawnpoint in the Overworld.
All you have to do now to see the purified End, is enter the End Portal.
The End's already generated single End stone island will still be there, along with any player made structures and obsidian towers. However, beyond the pre-generated and existing structures, there will be new islands generated infinitely in The End. For now they will have the same blocks as in the Overworld. However in the future I may make them out of some new blocks, and perhaps even 1-2 new ores and a few new mobs. Endermen will still spawn, but most of them will spawn on the main island. They still however, have a chance to spawn on the other islands, but the chance is quite low. Also, I forgot to mention that The End may have either a normal daylight cycle, permanent day or, permanent night. And that said, the sky will have the same color as it did in the original sky dimension, as the purple hue seems fitting. If you fall off the islands you'll be teleported back into the overworld and falling from the sky, so you don't lose your items in the void. These islands are populated with oak trees, although the occasional Sambucus tree is present. These islands may have overworld ores in them.

-Endermen will still spawn here, albeit less than they do right now.
-Occasionally a Creeper will appear.
Pigs will spawn here.
Blocks and Items
Okay sue me, I got a little carried away building other things. Also, the grass was supposed to be paler but being the derp I am I forgot to change the biome color stuff. Oh well.
Ethereal dirt and grass
These blocks make up the dirt and grass of the islands, respectively. The dirt is a bit of a grey, whilst the grass is a bright, and somewhat pale green.
Requires tools to pick up: No
Sambucus leaves and log
These are the blocks that make up the Sambucus tree. The leaves often drop Elderberries.
Requires tools to pick up: Yes, only for the leaves themselves.
Cloud
A white block that lacks opacity (In other words, sort of like ice) that negates fall damage, but does not rebound entities/players. Requires tools to pick up: No
Aerosand
This block has physics like gravel and the other sand blocks. But the key difference, is that instead of falling down, Aerosand goes up! This block will be able to carry redstone signals through itself.
Requires tools to pick up: No
Cloud bed
This bed is crafted similar to normal beds, but can only be used in The End. Normal beds will simply explode.
And if you die by falling off an island, you will have the option to respawn in your cloud bed, or normal bed. You will respawn at the cloud bed if you die by any other means of damage. Dieing in the Overworld or Nether will not respawn you in the cloud bed, but rather the normal bed in the Overworld.
Crystal
This glowing light blue block spawns in groups of others of the same block in crystal formations on the surface of the islands and in caves. These can be split into shards in a crafting table, and you can place down the shards on the ground as a light source. The shards can also be split into Crystal dust.
Items
Elderberries
These berries only come from the Sambucus tree. Each one of these heals 1 & 1/2 hunger bars.
Aerogel
This is an uncommon drop from Clots. I had an idea what to di with it but I forgot to write it down.
Ancient Trident
Has the lore “This trident was once used by a past individual who has since vanished”. This weapon has the same durability as Diamond swords, and does the damage of iron swords, just like the hammer. The Trident has the ability of extended reach, and also heal 1/5 of the damage you deal with it. If charged up (By holding right click) It can shoot a sonic charge that damages entities within a 3 block radius of the projectile. This weapon can be found in the sky bunker chests as a 1/300 chance. I heard Dinnerbone was interested in Tridents so I decided to add this. Cannot be crafted.
Lightning charge
This uncommon drop from Galestroms can be thrown. When it hits the ground it will summon a bolt of lightning.
Crystal dust
This luminous blue dust can be placed down similar to redstone, but does not mix with redstone when placed next to each other, and activates all redstone power compatible objects without a power source. If a power source is applied at one of the ends of the dust, the dust will stop glowing and will not power anything.
Gooey Coat
This is dropped from Beetles. This gooey liquid is used to brew potions of resistance.
Sambucus Tree
This small tree is only found here, and it's leaves will frequently drop Elderberries. Also drops it's respective sapling
Sky bunker
This will spawn on its own island, almost completely taking it up. 3 Giants will spawn in each of these. Loot is akin to that of Strongholds. Contains plenty of skeleton and zombie spawners, along with Automatons that spawn naturally.
Other
Achievement get: When pigs REALLY fly!
A new achievement that it is gotten by saddling and riding a Pigasus.
Eclipse storms: You've purified The End.... Well, at least most of it. Being a realm of some what Ethereal qualities, weather is always a concern. However, the remaining power of The End that is not purified, is amplified by the weather. Resulting in a phenomenon known as Eclipse Storms. During these tempests the power of The End causes things to work differently, creatures to mutate, and skies to darken for a period of time. Lightning is extremely common.
The folloiwng mobs are the result of Mutation from eclipse storms
Galestrom
-HP: 16 (8 hearts)
-Damage: No melee, but shoots Freeze shocks, which cause slowness II to entities and players that are near the explosion. Also summons lightning there.
-Drops: 1-2 Cloud blocks, and 1 Lightning rod.
-Temperament: Extremely hostile
-Description: It's similar to a Cirros, but instead of white it is a dark grey with light blue glows around its body and tail.
-Mutates from: Cirros
Mutated Beetle
N/A right now, more to come later
Cyclone
The Eddy's particles will turn dark grey/black. It will toss entities, mobs, and players 1.5x the height it normally does.
Endermen will become paranoid and attack any mob that can mutate or has already mutated. Will remain neutral to players.

Being automatically hostile is not cool, since having to defend yourself from it would mean aggroing other pigmen around you, and pigmen are strong mobs.
We already have Skeletons and Blazes in the nether forts, not to mention the ghast, so I don't think we need another ranged mob in what is literally hell.
Having it spawn with a flame bow by default is kinda OP.
A better name for it would be "Skeletal pigmen".

Using a player head on an armor stand will produce a model/statue of that player who's head you put on it. That could work.

-Minecarts are ment to be as a transport option, not a death machine.
-Wrestling with Minecarts in survival can sometimes be a pain. For example if you're trying to put together a group of carts, and they start bouncing back and forth, and also if you're messing with switches, that can be a problem too. I'd rather not be killed whilst doing a already finicky task.
-Minecart is the only good way to get a Villager transported to another location without dieing, or getting lost. Not to mention transporting other mobs, including hostiles. And getting mobs into these things with this suggestion is gonna be hard, because they're either die or not get in.
-Minecarts are one of the signature things about Minecraft we shouldn't make something as a Minecart for crying out loud more threatening than a Enderman or Zombie Pigman. Heck with that kind of damage on more complex Minecart systems, that's more damage than the Enderdragon! The Final Boss of Minecraft!
I may consider supporting later on if things are changed here and Minecarts are improved in Vanilla.
