Keep the door destructible, but allow the construction of diamond and obsidian doors. Make them take so long to dismantle as to be all but indestructible. Put your chest and diamonds behind a locked obsidian door in a small obsidian space (4x4 probably, taking about 28 obsidian blocks counting the one for the door... a lot, but not unminable). Trap the area outside the obsidian door - and all around it for clever monkeys that try to dig past the door - with enough TNT to level the continent, resting safe in the knowledge that your goodies are in an un-blow-uppable cage.
Obsidian should be used in arrows, like RL, its a VERY brittle stone, but is also very sharp. That makes it nice for SMALL knives and projectile tips. While diamond is harder, its toughness likely lies more in pressure than energy transfer. As is proven with overly rigid materials, if it cannot transfer energy well it will simply shear off.
Since diamond is a crystal i find it's life as a sword would probably be short lived, but Its not like I have enough to test :tongue.gif:
Metal swords are still far superior, when it fails, you can repair it with uber skilled blacksmithing. GL doing that with diamond.
Getting past lava is easy though, who needs lava suit when you can just not be a retard and avoid it. Seriously all you gotta do is cover it up -.-
Lets say you go around with absolutely nothing except a sword. You wouldn't be scared.
If you head down a mine with all your rare and good equipment. In the dark. Then You get paranoid, suddenly you hear a ****ing hst from the lava and you jump. Next, you see a vivid image of a creeper on the other side, with the sounds of zombies moans all around you. To top it off with scary music.....'Ave thou shet brix?
