If you have the ModifyWorld plugin from PermissionsEx, this would do exactly what you've explained assuming you haven't given yourself/your group the permission nodes to do such things in the world. If you're having an issue with the spawn area protection that comes with the vanilla server, enter your name in the ops.txt file in the server directory. You can alternately just set the spawn protection option in server.properties to 0 if your issue is the ladder.

exactly my point, this is a perfect example of one of those lazy people i mentioned

if you are too lazy to research mods that will help reduce griefing and hacks, and take the steps to ensure an experience that suits your server's design, then you are an incompetent moderator and deserve whatever bad things happen to your server

Don't pull things out your ass if you're unwilling to back up your statements.

I own the server I play on, and spend more of my time 'researching' and reading about possible hacks and looking for if they can be currently prevented on my server. I've yet to find ANYTHING that can catch a player using X-RAY, other than basic assumption my mods can only make when they catch people directly digging into hidden chests, diamonds, dungeons and etc. Other than mods/plugins to prevent people from fly hacking and speed hacking to an extent, that's all I think there really is at this point.

Right now, I can only advise and hope my players will play fair and not use a mod like this or use a transparent texture pack. :/

Sorry for this being so ugly, but I hope it helps. I know I skipped some, but these are all pretty obvious.

The grass and leaf textures are 1, 49 and 50. I think 104 and 105 as well? All grayscale for the biome colors. I'm going from what I know, and assume. I don't make texture packs so forgive me if I'm wrong. :biggrin.gif:

Did you recently upgrade it to 16GB again tonight? If not, you're false advertising because the server has been 8GB WITH lag for a couple weeks now.

And seeing as you only decided to kick me and Lios from the team tonight, I don't see you upgrading the server so quickly.

Make sure you spread some actual light on the situation, and not just your version. You threaten a kid for theft when he says he was going to return donations to those who donated to the server so they could make the choice to donate again if they wish? We worked hard to get Minerealm out of the gutter you left it in, even if you had more players on. You ditched the server and only now that it's got a better name for itself do you forcefully take it back with bogus reason. People said they like me and Lios more because we listen to them, and work to fix issues instead of ignoring everything like you do. You cannot trust your mods and thats why you severely limited their actions, and it shows in the previous Minerealm thread from the numerous bad reviews and mods/users quitting posts.

You should not be trying to run a community when you don't care in the least about the community, how they feel or what they have to say.

And just because I said that starting all of this over the spawn floor being 'unacceptable' was pathetic, you banned me. Does that not show immaturity and abuse of power?

Also, you removed the per-player-warps that were PROMISED to users if they were to donate, then as I said earlier, threatened Lios with legal action if he were to refund players their money because of this.

Have fun with your server. :smile.gif:

If you and lios stayed in the Head Admins positions I was going to quit. You say that you listened to people, from what I've seen, you never did. I've tried to ask lios numerous questions while in-game to ask him about a few things. He never listened to me. And no offense to you yuushi, but I just see you as somebody who just joined the server and getting admin because you were Lios' *** friend, leaving the word out for certain reasons. The first day you got mod you didn't know anything about the server.

You guys did manage the server a lot more, but something didn't feel right. I'm not trying to say anything bad about you guys, but that was just how I felt. Also, you post in the most uncivilized area, the public forums. Saying terrible things about the abuse of power and and other things. Which you are over exaggerating about. In my opinion, that is pathetic.

I will miss lios, and have full respect for him. But if he did stay, I probably would of quit.

Excuse me? You were hardly ever on at the same time as me so you have to place to say I never listened to what players had to say. I did nothing BUT listen to players, welcome new players and try and sort issues out. I gave up all my free time to sit on the server trying to help. :/

Lios' actions in no way reflect on mine on the server, so if you had an issue with him not listening to you, don't assume I'm the same. I answered everything people would ask me, but again... you were never on to see that.

Also, don't know how many times I've said this but I was on the server before Lios even took over as head admin. It's your own issue for not noticing me beforehand, and the issue of any others. I'm not at fault because I stayed in the shadows. Before I even got mod, and had no power to do anything I tried to help as I could, relay information and issues to Lios.

I'm not trying to say anything bad about you guys, but that was just how I felt. Also, you post in the most uncivilized area, the public forums. Saying terrible things about the abuse of power and and other things. Which you are over exaggerating about. In my opinion, that is pathetic.

You're truly blinded, aren't you? Assuming what you called me earlier when referring me as Lio's *** friend, I can only guess what word it is, so you're a hypocrite for saying that last part of your post. :smile.gif: Not trying to say anything bad about us? Re-read your post.

Nothing of what I said was exaggerated or lies. Again, you're not on enough to know any truth of what happened, so you have no place in the issue.

As Lios said, I likely cared more about the server than him. While I sat on the server trying to deal with the many issues there were, he was playing other games or busy out doing things. Minerealm was my priority simply because I was the only active admin. Where was Intelli? He wasn't gone, he works from home and wasn't in the shadows. Yet there I was, alone in what had to be done for the most part. I never denied, and openly said to people that I was learning as I went when it came to using linux. But I was in no way new to running a server. Watch how you judge those you know nothing about.

I have nothing against Minerealm, and I love the server. I love the community and all the colors of players that come with it. I can't turn back time to change what happened, and I'm sorry I couldn't do more. I tried to do as much as I could with the little time I had off work to deal with the server. I don't feel I was a bad admin, or that I let people down. This issue wasn't because of how I did my job, but started because of a spawn and just escalated. I'm sure anyone involved feels some regret for what happened, but what's done is done. :]

No, because too much of the server was being pointlessly burned.

I get the hint that you don't agree with the changes I made. :/

I talked to Lios before I even made an changes on that scale, and he was getting tired of how people were going around the server looking for the next forest to burn just for the hell of it.

This wouldn't have even been an issue if it was small patches, but I spent too many hours putting out fires and I had the help of a plugin on my side. Other users even tried helping put out fires when I wasn't on I heard.

If players cannot handle the ability to use fire, then there's no need to have it.

People can still have their fireplaces and such. Fire still burns, it still does damage, so nothing has changed there.

Either way, so far you're the only person I have seen that's so bothered by it, while many others were very happy about it?

Anyways, made a big leap closer to a map update. Made a post about it on the minrealm forums for those who want to know more about it. :/

So!!! Minerealm's survival server *still is* a PVP server but now we have to be careful that we dont scratch any sensitive creative builders when Seuter is logged. :sad.gif:((

:"<msg>(raisky) OK!!! I'mm destroying the enemy's walls! I hope they are not Creative Walls.. those are the most dangerous! OMG!!!! (pickpickpickpick) there i notified you now you can watch and gawk or go do your job as moderator and find some real greifers! :)"

    - - - ((Meanwhile other "creation" in raisky's yard had been destroyed... (A mile high dirt dungeon disguised as a modern non-minerealm high rise tower made of diamonds.) with a chest full of wooden shovels!!!! THe incident was labeled as "greif" by misguided amateur wannabe investigator players turning eachother in to the authorities... Raisky was pleased to see the 3 skeletons in traps when he returned after the server had been brough back online and labaled the incident as a success...))
Sorry, but there's no need to be sarcastic in that manner. :/

Seuter is worried about widespread map destruction practically. Mass world flooding pushes that 'grey area' of griefing in survival, since covering the entire landscape in lava or water really isn't needed.

As he said, each mod their own. Each server mod will have a different opinion on what's what in the survival map. I'm sure though if you have an issue you can contact one of the admins through the Minerealm forums and they will look into solving it if they can. :/

In my opinion, Seuter needs to realize that destruction of peoples work is a part of survival multiplayer, and there's no point in trying to stop it. It steals from the point of protecting your structures, hiding them so no one can find them and being resourceful. I wouldn't have an issue with a mod present, but so long as there wasn't interference.

Just give the server admins time to lay out the rules to what can and cannot be done in the Survival server before jumping to conclusions. :smile.gif:

    Quote from Monkah_Boy »
Personally, the only reason I would NOT want to join this server is douchebag mods, which Seuter seems to be.

It's a survival server, if your not going to stand for it, then sit down and shut your mouth. If people can take the time to make a giant "oh mah gawsh" sculpture, but can't take the time to hide it, theres creative mode for a reason.

I know I haven't exactly been on this server yet, but it's just plain common sense anyone should know. If your playing on a survival server, hide your stuff. Put it inside a hill or such. Is that so hard? The people that will disagree with me here are creativists at heart, who have gotten "greefd" one too many times.

The beauty of SMP is that nothing can last forever. Think of a year old server, walking through the valleys and seeing ruins of houses, half of sculptures, etc. Think of the tension and entertainment the game could bring if you knew the house your in could be mounted with TNT traps.

Again, no need to jump to conclusions that this is how the survival server is going to be like. PvP isn't even going to be enabled I thought I read somewhere until Notch irons it out?

    Quote from Gekkonidae »
^ I'm about half and half on this. While i've been in the pvp world since i first started online gaming about 15 years ago, ive always kept the same mentality... don't destroy it if there's no real reason to. I mean really... why go blow up a huge sculpture and waste resources if there's nothing really in it for you? SMP and the recent introduction of PVP says 1 thing to me. We can get to where we want to be quicker by killing other players and looting their chests/corpse drops, etc. Theres no point in build a bunch of tnt and and blowing the hell out of an entire city when there's nothing to gain out of it aside from making an eyesore. It's just stupid to me. While people like that are blowing stuff up, i'll be busy raiding houses, killing players and stealing their stuff and eventually stealing the guys stuff whos blowing stuff up and hoarding it all for myself and my teammates :tongue.gif: It isn't necessary to blow stuff up unless you know for sure there are chests hidden beneath the floors/in a cave, etc.. and the chances are somewhat slim. Even if thats the case, i would rather get a diamond axe/shovel and find them rather than wasting tnt.

So that brings me to feel somewhat to and fro on the whole "AMGGZZ GREEFZ!" thing. i don't destroy nice structures because they look cool, but furthermore because i really dont have any business or have to gain by doing so. now if i see the builder trying to build... he's a dead man and his chests will be emptied. but im not going to waste my time blowing his stuff up unless it looks like a heavily reinforced fort. And no, that doesnt mean a wooden house or a stone house they are obviously building as just shelter or a simple above ground town. Use good judgement. it's easy to see the difference. Towns to me arent really much of a threat unless they are heavily reinforced or are underground. then you KNOW they are probably building them as some sort of base used in war. Other towns that are obviously built just to house people or are used for social gatherings usually have chests that are in plain view and people to kill. there isnt a point to destroying them.

I don't know. I don't think i'm alone in having a better focused goal that both caters to peoples creations to a degree, but still harnessing the raw destructive killing power that people possess :tongue.gif:

I guess the only real foolproof way to make structures last would be to protect them, but even then you dont want to protect so much that there is no room for development in the world. that's why i had suggested picking 5 cities to protect scattered through the world and having new people randomly spawn within 1 of those 5 cities. that would at least allow them to come into the server with a nice view/not falling 20 feet and losing half their hearts as soon as they get in. Or just have newcomers spawn randomly through the world so people dont spawncamp and pk them.
Definitely agree with the bolded. :]

And you said you've got backups of the servers so we'll be able to keep all of our old stuff? Does that mean our /homes are still set correctly?
