Alright, I updated my texture pack for 1.8 and for some reason spiders, cave spiders and endermen spawn white. Can any one give me a reason as to why so I can try to fix it?
Decided to make a topic about this black fog I was getting closer to bedrock. Now I was waiting to see if was as bad as people said with not affected by torches. Though today I discovered torches are useless now really as you can barely see in front of yourself. I think this feature should be toggle on and off for those like myself who find it just annoying.
I tend to agree. The fog only really gets annoying on the lower-most level. So you could just stay a few levels above, but I agree. It would be nice to make it a toggle option.
I figure this would be a common problem for many out there having a well developped server with a pre1.8 world. Search here on the forum did not turn up anything useful, so I'll take a shot here;
Is there a way to salvage the hard work people have done on their old servers and import that onto an 1.8 server to take advantage of the new terrain generation?
Apologies if this has been discussed already. A link would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I saw a reference to your pack in a Let's Play I've been following. The maker, just like me, never really liked the higher res texture packs (64 and up) because it somehow doesn't fit Minecraft very well. At least in our opinion.
BUT! This texture pack you have made is awesome! Especially the 128x one looks very smooth!
It turns Minecraft into a cartoon. Very, very impressive work.
The only nitpicky thing I have is that I do not like the glowstone very much. Would that have been a lantern-like block I think your pack would be excellent!
Keep up the good work! I'll be following your progress. :wink.gif:
I can't really remember where I got this reddust texture from, but it's somebody else's work.
I rather not put it up here unless I have permission from the original author to do so, eventhough I have altered the texture myself.
You see, I have been creating my own mix 'n match texture pack (combined with my own work and alterations) since somewhere during alpha. :wink.gif:
Eventhough I have kept noted in a text file who's work is included, some packs have ceased to being updated anymore. I suspect my reddust texture is from one of those packs.
But the concept it easy;
Take whatever texture you like and convert it to grayscale. The lighter the grey, the brighter the red will be in the game.
To make highlights on the grayscale texture use an off white or very light gray to make it glow bright red when it's lit in-game.
1.1.12_02 and the current beta 2.0.0-beta4) continue to work with 1.5_01.
Anyone else having problems patching 1.1.12_02 onto 1.5_0.1? Everytime i patch with the texture pack (x16) (which worked all the way upto 1.5) it works fine and runs, but when i go to place a block. minecraft crashes. it doesnt happen with the default texture pack, and i have no other mods running, so it must be down to the patcher? any ideas (i've tried clean installing)
That's cause you're using the old patcher version. It does not work anymore with the newest MC build.
Download the beta v2.0.0-beta4 patcher from post #1 of this thread and drop your Texture Pack into your .minecraft\texturepacks\ folder, instead of inserting the texture pack directly into minecraft.jar, like we had to to in the old days (and still could do up until now).
The old 1.1.12_02 still works, but only if you do not insert the custom water and custom lava files into minecraft.jar. The bare texturepack does load without problems.
So if you want custom water and lava and do not want the rightclick crash that results from using the old patcher with those custom files, you need to use the beta4 v2 patcher instead.
And why wouldn't you? It works without hassle and makes installing your texturepack easier as well.
The beta4 patcher works flawlessly afterall if you remember to place the custom texture pack into the 'texturepacks' folder in your .minecraft folder.
The old method of directly inserting the texturepack into the minecraft.jar file results in no custom water and lava being displayed.
1.5_01 works fine WITH custom water and custom lava when using beta4 patcher. Just use the 'texturepacks' folder method of installing your texture pack instead of the old method of inserting into minecraft.jar.
Yeah, I do. It works fine with the beta patcher, doesnt seem to be anything wrong with it.
Weird...
Do you insert your texture pack into the minecraft.jar (like the old method) or do you use the texturepack folder and the main menu to select it?
If so, where do you place the custom water and lava graphic files?
-snip-
Eventhough the patcher prevents the right-click crash in Minecraft it won't make MC use the custom lava and water textures no matter wether you select them in the options of the patcher.
So eventhough it patches correctly in the sense that it prevent the right-click crash (which you do get with the older patcher), it still isn't patching 100% because you will miss the custom textures for water and lava no matter what.
Seems to work just fine for me. You are talking about the MCPatcher BETA, right? Because the only thing you do with that is uncheck HD font [or atleast i do] then just hit Patch.
Then, like magic, after it does that, you can select HD texture packs just like you would with 16x ones!
Lava and water are fine.
Do you get the custom lava and water textures from your texture pack to show?
I don't. Minecraft just shows the default bright blue water (animated) in all my worlds instead of the azure blue tiles I have in my pack.
So... just use the beta patcher, since it lets you switch between texture packs, and you only ever have to run it once.
woah!

The patcher patches the game and prevents it from crashing like the original 1.1.12_02.exe patches does when you try to place any block or item,
BUT eventhough you select 'Custom Animated Water' and 'Custom Animated Lava' in the options of the beta (4) patcher, it won't patch Minecraft correctly and you will see the default water and lava textures.
They are animated indeed, but minecraft ignores the custom textures.
Same happens for me, but only if I use a custom texture pack.
Running it vanilla poses no problem, so I suspect it's got to do with something the HD patcher does that has changed from 1.3 to 1.5_01.
1.5 worked flawlessly for me too.

I think that might be the problem here.

The new MCPatcher version fixes this.

Zipping the texture pack and placing it into the texturepacks folder alongside using the beta patchers works fine indeed. Thanks!
