The title of this thread is incredibly misleading. Nowhere in that segment did it suggest that this mod API would actually be coming in January. This is what was said:
"We can expect something [at] the beginning of January on where we can see things going and more of a timeline."
In other words, we're going to be given more details on the planned API, and an estimate of a future release date - NOT the API itself. This is pretty cool news in itself (I'm very interested in learning more about this API), but we're probably not going to actually see this API for a few months yet.

I've got the latest, 1.2.5.
I've just managed to get it to work by deleting and re-downloading the bin, this time leaving the texture as default and not using the HD texture fix, so it seems that mcpatcher was the problem - it causes the game to crash when used with this mod (even though by itself it works fine, provided I don't check "custom water" or "custom lava").

Step 1: Downloaded AudioMod 1.2.4_01
Step 2: Dragged all the files from AudioMod into the root minecraft.jar folder
Step 3: Downloaded ModLoader
Step 4: Dragged all the files from ModLoader into the root minecraft.jar folder
Step 5: Downloaded moCreaturesMod v1.5.zip
Step 6: Dragged all the relevant files into their respective folders (ie. the .png animal textures went into the mob folder, the class files into the root jar and the sounds into the resources folder)
Note: I didn't delete any META_INF folder simply because there was no such folder in the minecraft.jar for me to delete - I'd previously run mcpatcher (I'm using a HD texture pack), which does the job for you.
Step 7: Started up Minecraft, and was greeted with a black screen.
What exactly did I do wrong?

I'd like to know just how common this problem is, and if there are any known fixes (I'm not a server admin by the way, just a player). Thanks in advance.

I just tried to install Kahr's patch above, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. My settings were tile size 128 x 128, and everything ticked except Animated Fire and Texture Pack. Upon opening up Minecraft, I get the Mojang logo, and then a white screen - the patch log shows:
########## GL ERROR ##########
@ Pre render
1281: Invalid value
Mind you, it's okay when I change the tile size to 16 x 16 and uncheck Custom Lava and Water, but I'd like to be able to use the larger tile size (since there are some certain HD texture packs I'd like to try).
Edit: Aha! I know what the problem is now - I just spotted Redwuff's post on an earlier page, and followed their advice.
Deleting the Minecraft bin, putting the HD texture pack in the texturepack folder, selecting it on the 'Mods and Texture Pack' menu and THEN running the patch worked like a charm. Thanks Redwuff. :smile.gif:

I have had this problem in the past with other texture packs as well. Are you trying to run it by putting the texture pack in the texturepack folder, and then selecting it from the "Mods and Texture Packs" menu? If so, that's probably why - you can only run this if you've dragged the files into the minecraft.jar folder, and installed a HD patch.
Edit: Actually, it turns out this isn't necessarily the case, and it can be done via the Mods and Texture Packs menu. I followed this series of steps to install the pack:
1. Download the HD patch, but don't run it just yet.
2. Delete the Minecraft Bin file (to get rid of any alterations that have already been made to it by the HD patch, if you've already tried it)
3. Download the Okami texture pack, and put it in the texturepacks folder
4. Run the Minecraft exe (it will automatically re-download the Minecraft Bin)
5. Click 'Mods and Texture Packs,' then select the Okami file - at this point, the game may crash, but don't worry! If it crashes, I think it's because Okami is a HD texture pack that needs a tile size of 128 x 128 (or 64 x 64, depending) in order to work, whereas the default Minecraft tile size is only 16 x 16.
6. Now run the HD patch, choosing the options as outlined in the OP. The reason why we're running the HD patch now, instead of before selecting the Okami texture pack, is that the chosen tile size needs to match that of the current texture pack for the patch to work (at least, that's what I've gathered, anyway).
7. Try running the Minecraft exe again - hopefully it'll work this time.
Hope that helps.

I do have a suggestion - what do you think of making lionesses as well as male lions (since in real life, lion prides tend to consist of mostly females, with one or two males)? They would basically be the same, except maneless. I suppose you could also make slight differences in their attack style and health as well, I guess - since lionesses do most of the hunting irl, perhaps extend their "sight" range to 5, while keeping the male lion's at 4?
Great work. :smile.gif:

For instance, right now I want cherry blossoms in my game, so I've set my texture pack to the February option. However, when I do this, the trees are all green, rather than the advertised pink. It's rather odd, since when I look at the terrain.png file in the February folder, the pink tree graphic is clearly there. Is anyone else experiencing this problem at the moment? Any fixes?
