The title of this thread is incredibly misleading. Nowhere in that segment did it suggest that this mod API would actually be coming in January. This is what was said:
"We can expect something [at] the beginning of January on where we can see things going and more of a timeline."
In other words, we're going to be given more details on the planned API, and an estimate of a future release date - NOT the API itself. This is pretty cool news in itself (I'm very interested in learning more about this API), but we're probably not going to actually see this API for a few months yet.

Hmm...try again, but this time don't use the Magic Launcher. I've never used that myself and I'm not experiencing any problems, so perhaps that's where your issue lies.

Try installing first Optifine, then these shaders. That's what I do and it always works.

My old laptop only had an ATI Radeon HD 4570, but was able to run this mod with FPS usually in the 20-30 range on normal/far. It seems that it's actually the higher end computers that suffer the most drastic reduction in performance percentage-wise (although overall their performance is obviously still likely to be higher than that of older computers, ie. a high end computer might drop from 200 FPS to 50 FPS whereas an older computer may only go from 40 FPS to 20 FPS).

Edit: Oh wow, there's a pretty cool natural cave in this jungle, with a stream running through it:
At first glance it doesn't seem to lead anywhere, but if you dig straight down at the very end of the passage you'll hit an enormous cave system, complete with mineshafts.
