    You should be able to do this with Optifine though by making sure connected textures is turned on in Video Settings->Quality and using an appropriate resource pack.

    I remember hearing about a new method to trap laser light, but this isn't an amplifier, it's a memory device. It's application wouldn't be in power generation, but rather quantum computing (or other light-based computers). And even if it were an amplifier, amplifiers don't make a signal stronger without taking power from somewhere else, so you could have a power beam and a signal beam and the crystal could amplify the signal beam using energy from the power beam, but without that power beam the crystal couldn't amplify the signal.

    You could process clay (kaolin clay -> aluminum silicate) instead. Wouldn't need to add a new ore then and you'd make clay useful for something other than bricks.

    You should be able to find more info on this through the Global Village Construction Set, which will eventually include an Aluminum Extractor.

    Actually, they'd probably be delighted if you got some of their machines working in Minecraft and let people know where they came from, and they should have 3D models you can use too.

    Marcin Jakubowski gave a TED Talk about this project that you might want to check out.

    In Minecraft we have several different kinds of dust, but only one of them (redstone) is placeable. There are mods for placeable gunpowder and glowstone dust, but what about the rest of them, and what should they do?


    Here are my ideas:


    Dyes

    Dyes placed on a dyeable block should dye the block beneath them when rained on or washed away by fluids.

    This would allow you to lay out a pattern, then, when you're satisfied with your design, flood it with water to dye the wool/hardened clay/whatever beneath.

    Sheep crossing a dye trail are dyed.

    Make a ring of different coloured dyes and breed your sheep in the middle of the ring. As the population increases, sheep are pushed out, crossing the dye, then killed outside the ring for coloured wool and mutton. Or lure them across the dye with food or sugar.

    Not for lapis, bonemeal or ink sacks.

    Lapis and ink sacks aren't powders silly. Go find those flowers.

    Bonemeal

    Occasionally applies additional growth ticks to nearby plants.

    Applies many growth ticks at once to nearby plants when washed away by rain or water.


    Sugar

    Animals follow and consume a sugar trail (without breeding).

    This would allow you to lead an animal to a pen by laying out a trail from the pen to the animal.

    Blaze powder

    Any entity that tries to cross a blaze powder trail is set on fire.

    Protect your base. Cook your critters (sugar trail crosses blaze trail). Encircle a skelly spawner and be bombarded with fire arrows.

    Also:

    Sugar block

    Made from 9 sugar, this block lures nearby animals, but isn't consumed.

    Put this at the end of a sugar trail to keep critters where you want them. No more glitchy fences.

    I noticed there's no way to add a block with a facing direction (like a dropper or dispenser). The closest you have is pillars (like logs).

    Could you add this? I'd like to make an eye block that actually looks in a particular direction.

    Why ingots and powders? I'd expect the redstone ore block to go through, but not redstone dust or iron ingots.

    I'm getting an entity ID conflict with your mod. Not sure which one the other culprit is. antiidconflict really didn't help; I'm pretty sure it doesn't work on Linux.


    Apparently, entity IDs can be assigned dynamically in recent versions of Minecraft. Could you check that your mods are taking advantage of this feature?

    This mod isn't working on Linux. You've used backslash ("\") rather than forward slash ("/") in your config file paths (and probably others), which only ever works right on Windows.

    You could do all your taint stuff in a separate dimension, like Amoma1997's Dimensional World or a UtilityWorlds dimension.

    With MystCraft this would be a no-brainer. Kinda like to see TC5 taint vs. unstable world.

    You really need to spell check your comments. In Firefox, spelling errors are highlighted in red when you're editing something and the spell checker is on. If you're not seeing any of those red underlines, right click on the text you're typing and turn on "check spelling" in the menu that pops up.
